The problem of course is that you don't know what an "unnecessary" service might or might not be. Several tweaking guides at the time we released the J41 advocated disabling a bunch of "useless" services - well, one of them was actually used in the FMS and led to problems until we figured it out at support... Trust me guys, saving 1MB or 400KB of RAM by shutting a service down is going to make absolutely no difference on a modern system that has 4GB+ of RAM. Just because something is in RAM doesn't mean it's actively using the CPU either - most services just sit waiting to be called - that takes basically zero CPU to do.

I think so. I haven't seen what it's supposed to look like. Maybe inline with the 8f and not the Dreamliner paint.Pete Mac PaintPMDG Graphic Designer

pete, just a quick question:will you do the 747-8i boeing paint as soon as it will be presented?thanks

That's how I look at things. If it isn't an obvious resource hog I don't mess with it & most of the time I can't tell any difference when something is running vs. when it's not. Better off playing it safe & just closing the stuff I know is an issue manually.

Since there are a lot of 737 arm chair experts here. Can anyone tell me how you would tell the difference between a 737.300 vs the 400 and i am only talking the outside. not the avionics or engines.

And number of overwing exits. ie: '300=1 '400=2Not always easy to distinguish with length at certain angles...

also if it's a southwest aircraft then there's a very high probability it's not a -400 lol :biggrin:zach akoh and i also am betting this release will not be compatible with some if not all vr-insight products if the saitek panels are not compatible. is there any plans for cooperation to have some functionality like say for instance the m-panel?thanks,

Even easier to spot is the tail skid. Only the 400 has a tail skid but try distinguishing between the -800/900, a bit trickier there.

Gamebooster is a total placebo effect unless you have a billion background apps running (which you shouldn't on a well set-up system). It can actually cause problems too because it shuts down services - we've seen a lot of people at support have their J41 suddenly stop working or de-register because of GB killing the licensing service on it's own. *******'s tool is good and does improve things, but again I'm talking about running stuff like an FTX region with one of their high detail airports at near max sliders, 100% UT2 traffic, REX2 4096 textures and so on all with a high end addon aircraft. Any system is going to be able to do SOME of that, but I'd be very surprised to see a laptop doing it all at reasonable framrates and high resolution with high AA/AF that makes it actually look good.
Having a dell laptop, i tend to find gamebooster shuts down a lot of dells third party apps plus other things such as google talk e.t.c, all these little things add to more ram and more CPU speed. I think gamebooster itself and also all the little teaks such as Bajotes guide and the frame rate limiter really make the difference, i also run REX 2, World of Ai traffic and other add ons such ORBX YMML and they run pretty decent on the laptop. My setting is not set at max by any means, more on medium-high which is quite acceptable :)AdnanSomewhere near YMML
Exactly. A real 737 pilot (or probably any airliner pilot) could spot it instantly and possibly be annoyed, but for the average simmer who only sees wing views from the coach section when they fly it looks more real. I always wear polarized lenses when I'm driving my SUV (bad analogy, I know) so there are zero reflections in the windshield, but I remember growing up thinking how annoying those papers were that my dad kept on the dashboard. When I take my glasses off now I can even spot the dash vents reflected in my windshield, so it looks good to me when there's some sort of reflection in the NGX. Not enough to distract me or block the view, just enough to remind me there's glass in that thar cockpit! I think PMDG has hit a great balance on this.
I agree. It makes the view more "closed" as if you are real inside. That is why I think the VC of the MD11 (great plane) looks a bit 2D/flat.The way it is done in the J41 is perfect.Eric

Im going to let you guys thank me.....I have just personally sped up the development of the 737NGX by placing myself in a situation that means I wont have the cash to spend on it the moment it comes out. This is a sure fire way of making it release !!!I decided to bite the bullet and join a flying school :( Years of poverty are afoot

If you really have the time just count how many windows it is from the middle emergency exit to the back. The 900 obviously has 25 i think it is (not including emegency exits) and the 800 hundy has 22 i believe it is.Jack Colwill

Hello!I have a question as regards the systems in the NGX.Are you going to implement the new landing method called GBAS (or GLS) into your NGX?with regards,^_^Ensar B.
