December 23, 201114 yr Make sure you set FSX config to the followingCLOUD_COVERAGE_DENSITY=12TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=4096Here is a sample.. Craig Hustadt Windows 7 64 bit OS - Intel 2600K @ 4.8 GHz RAM 8GB - Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 @ 1920 x 1200 Intel SSD 250
December 23, 201114 yr I haven't actually tried this myself, but in theory, it should be possible to manually modify the settings files to set the CLOUD_COVERAGE_DENSITY to the value you want, and then use the 'Load settings' option to change your configurations on the fly. I think that would prevent the value from being reset. Give it a try and let us know if it works.I have tried it now and it seems to work. The files saved by Options>Settings>Save are stored in your C:Users<user>DocumentsFlight Simulator X Files and contain only a subset of the FSX config settings, but do include TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD and CLOUD_COVERAGE_DENSITY and can be loaded again with Options>Settings>Load.Save your settings as low_alt.cfg, make a test flight and adjust your settings as usual. Save your new settings as hi_alt.cfg and exit FSX. Edit low_alt.cfg and hi_alt.cfg and change TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD and CLOUD_COVERAGE_DENSITY to 4096 and 12 in both files. For you next flight, start as normal but then use Options>Settings>Load to load your low_alt settings and when you reach cruise, use Options>Settings>Load to load your hi_alt settings. After you start your descent, you can use Options>Settings>Load to reload your low_alt settings. [if all of that seems like too much trouble, you could save up and upgrade your machine so you didn't have to keep changing the settings  ] Paul Smith.
December 23, 201114 yr REX can also use weather influenced textures but as it took me significantly longer, I tended to just keep using the same theme over and over.I agree the textures are only comparable to REX, not superior however the main reason I upgraded to AS2012 is because of the much tighter integration between weather engine and texture library. FS2024 • PMDG 738, 77F • FSL A321 • A2A Comanche, Aerostar • BS Baron, Bonanza, Caravan Pro • JF Tomahawk • TAOG H500C BeyondATC • GSX Pro • ChasePlane & Flow Pro • TDS GTNXi • FSUIPC • AutoFPS • RealTurb 9800X3D B650E • ROG OC RTX 5090 • 64GB DDR5-6000 • VKB Gladiator, STECS, T-Rudder • Tobii 5 • ISP 1 Gbps
December 23, 201114 yr What is the differnce between Wx Influenced vs. the Install buttons? Brad Rich
December 23, 201114 yr Install installs the currently selected theme, Wx Influenced installs what is needed to depict the weather you have selected. Paul Smith.
December 23, 201114 yr I broke down and bought it a few days ago. Here are my thoughts-•Freed up some space on my computer•Combined two programs into one•I can now turn off my FSUIPC wind settings and not get S-turns in any aircraft. (with the ini and cfg settings it tells you in the manual)•Excellent hard surface textures. Ability to pick the color and details of the runway separately. Freakin awesome snow runway textures!•Most realistic weather effects from any weather program I've had so far compared to RW. (Take it from someone who flys a 172 quite a bit on bad weather days :()•Awesome sound replacement for cockpit rain, outside rain, and thunderstorm sounds.Overall, I couldn't be more impressed. This thing is a perfect match for my NGX and will make flying in FSX a whole lot more realistic and fun. If you are still not sure of whether to get it or not, I definately recommend it!**EDIT**Maybe I'm missing it, but the only thing I wish there was (I'm sure it will come with an update) is dirtier looking runways. I'm a fan of tons of tire skid marks and black grime on my runways!Merry Christmas All! Thanks!Nick CrateChief Executive OfficerFedEx Virtual Air Cargo

That is no hazzle for me to do as you described - I'll use that if the OC is not enough...That computer guy has had my rig for a week now - I'm starting to discover just how addicted I've become to FSX, NGX, Bergen, Oslo, Trondheim and Stavanger from Aerosoft - and all that combined with AS2012... Arrgghhh... That rig better be finished before new year!Mas Martin Jensen
December 23, 201114 yr Well, I found AS2012 to work great with the NGX.I could restore all turbulence settings in FSX and FSUIPC to the defaults, and could even increase turbulence effects beyond the defaults without facing any S-turn issues. So I get nice bumpy rides where it should be :)Overall I'm very satisfied with AS2012. December 24, 201114 yr what you saying in that with AS2012 you don't get a full overcast sky?I know with REX you don't, you only get bunch on clouds , but still you don't get a full gray overcast sky.that is what I was hoping AS2012 would change/add.could you shed some light on this with AS2012? is it still bunch of clouds (with gaps in between them) or you can get a full overcast sky?one of the most annoying thing with REX (which made me hate REX b/c of) was the fact that when it was raining and supposedly overcast sky, you would fly between clouds with large gapsin between them and you see the rain fall from the blue sky.is this the same with AS2012?i'm with you on that...and supposedly the Essentials update addresses this...waiting patiently steve d Win7 Ultimate x64 i7-2600k @4.8GHz Asus Sabertooth P67 Mushkin Redline 8GB EVGA GTX 570 SC Corsair Force GT 240GB SSD CoolerMaster SilentPro 1000W PS PMDG737NGX, PMDG747-400, REX2.0, GEX, UTX, MyTrafficX, EzDok
