Looks like I was behind on reality. I use REX 2.0 and I am happy so far. If anybody tell me/us what is the difference between REX and AS 2012 that would be awesome. Thank you.

yea sam e here waiting for the latest rex update b4 i make my mind up to whether to change or not hopefully the rex essential wont be far off

From what I have read about rex update doesnt mention any graphical updates, just gui and weather funcionality, am I wrong ? whats the big change I am not sure.

$40 without VAT. Kind of like buying ASE again but hey, its comes with textures and its better then $80!I just finished installing and playing around with the textures so far - I'm impressed! For a guy who has just recently upgraded from ASX to ASE and has been using Carenado's Real Sky Color (which they stopped selling in 2009 I believe lol) its like a whole new world! I especially like the new ashpalt runway textures - looks like the real thing and it really boosts the Orbx airports and blends in nicely. The new strobe and runway halos are great too. Tommorow I will do a test flight with a loaded flightplan and textures.

Have Rex 2 + ASE, downloading now, can post some screenies and opinions later (2.2Mb / sec), might not take too long :)

1st flight done.Really really amazing approach into Stockholm Arlanda.. COMPLETELY different feel to the simulator. nothing like I have experienced before. I felt the wind shake the aircraft, The fog and visibility on final approach made me think I was int he real thing. The runway lights loomed on me, and then more of the aerodrome.Fantastic so far, look forward to some day rotations tomorrow!

And are you using the reg version of FSUIPC and if so did you do anything to the settings in there?

I haven't done any theme creation yet so, I haven't uninstalled REX so the textures on my system are still a lot of Rex'y stuff!I am looking forward to sharing a discussion with people, on how they have set up etc. Basically I am just testing the weather engine today, flying around Scandinavia with 737's :D

More than knowing about the textures, I would like to know if there are improvements as to the weather engine and if we can still say that the weather in FS is unrealistic.

And for ASE+REX owners is it really an improvement ?

Thanks OK, I already have FSUIPC installed so guess I'll just have to start playing with the settings but I don't think that will be a big problem because I'm a long time HiFi customer and their support and willingness to help has always been top-notch!!Sounds very familiar...flying around Scandinavia in a 737 These days I'm doing all my flying in 'Freja Viking' (737-800WL) between the airports she flies to in real life like Oslo, Copenhagen but also London, Dublin, Frankfurt etc etc and after buying addon airport scenery for all those airports and in combination with Aerosoft's AES service on the ground FS has never been this fun before

Richard,Nothing to play around with. Make sure you have at least FSUIPC (beta) 4751a, disable all weather settings (button on first tab), set AS2012 to DWC - that's all. You may have to change one or two settings in fsx.cfg, but it's all explained in the documentation.
