Of course there is going to be an FS2Crew for the 777.

It's a 777 not a 172 after all... it requires more than 1 pile-it  :P

Voice control for sure.

Button control... depends on the users.

If they scream loud enough I'll probably cave and also do a button version...

Bryan, this is me screaming for a button version!!

Looks beautifull, but, I dont see a 2D cockpit mentioned, I assume VC only?

Not sure about that. PSS' 777 works the same way - minus the fact the cursor wasn't there, that's very exciting that they've managed to do it though. The guy that did it for PSS is actually part of the PMDG development team if I'm not mistaken.

Alex did indeed code the PSS 777 but this is different - your normal FSX cursor disappears and the mouse is literally controlling the onscreen cursor. If you had a trackpad for your mouse, it'd feel exactly like the real thing.  This isn't the normal FSX cursor selecting things on the display like a normal gauge - your cursor becomes part of the ECL screen.  It's extremely cool and the only other thing I've seen close to it is the VRS F/A-18's radar cursor.

Thanks for the update.

You have previously mentioned that the PFD will be showing the Vertical Speed in 50ft increments in the 777 and also to be considered as a fix for the NGX in a subsequent SP. Is this going to be the case?

Thanks!

Ahmed Abdessalam

This is on the list for being fixed in the NGX and will be there in the 777.

Robert just a small question for you,

As I can see on the previews (and I suppose it is going to be fixed as it is early previews), the centerpost bar in between the 2 front cockpit windows is WHITE.

Do you plan to correct this color ?

Kind regards,

Josh.

We're going to have this checked again on the real airplane but our survey photos from the real 200LR show something very much like what's in the screenshots here. It's possible it's a glare/lighting angle thing making it look that way though so we're going to recheck it.

Rob:

First I would like to say that the shots are amazing. But being a long time PMDG customer that is what I expected. Just one. Will the 777 have the rain effects like the J41?

Thanks,

Ron

No it will not - these kinds of effects use up a ton of animations/polys and the can overload the FSX animation system and cause graphical artifacts. (which have been a problem on the J41 for some users)

Hi guys

Fantastic work!

Love the NGX and am just curious if the 777 will also have a HUD or is that a 737 feature?

Cheers

Jay

Boeing is not offering a factory HUD option on the 777 - FedEx's is very sophisticated and involves a FLIR camera on the nose as well as an aftermarket HUD combiner for both pilots. I do not think we're planning to attempt to simulate this - it's a custom thing that only they have and I'm honestly not even sure they have it in service or certified yet.

Looking good!

In light of the advantages that DX10 brings to the table, such as significant VAS savings and the associated prevention of OOM errors(clearly a serious issue plaguing many of us FSXers), I hope that PMDG have recognized this and made the 777 DX10 compatible.

Along with the performance advantages, DX10 also has cockpit shadowing in the VC in compatible aircraft which adds incredibly to immersion.  So along with having fingers crossed hoping the 777 is DX10 compatible, I would also love to see the NGX get a DX10 update.

The NGX is DX10 compatible, so I don't think there's any reason the 777 wouldn't be.

I'm not really fond of long haul, so I wasn't planning on getting this plane, but this thread has won me over. Amazing job PMDG. I would just like to ask, as others have already done, what improvements we can expect on the NGX (such as the mentioned small refinements in the auto-flight system). The NGX is basically perfect already, in my opinion, but I am just curious what it will gain from the 777 development.

Expect more details on this type of stuff later on - we'll highlight some of the improvements directly in other updates with video etc.

It has 2D popups for all the displays, the CDUs, MCP, radios.  We are not doing a dedicated full 2D panel mode however - the NGX was our last aircraft to have that.

Who uses 2d these days?

A lot do, especially those that have home cockpits and multiple monitors

Tks for the straight answer Ryan, does that also include a throttle quad popup?

I also noticed this. Trivial stuff but I thought I was the only one. I suppose it is minor cosmetic or it is quite possibly intended to be that way by PMDG. There is some colour contrast in the real world 777 cockpit but from what I have seen the pillars (including the centerpost for the windshield) are all brown. Wonder if it will be left as white on the PMDG 777?

Awesome previews though. What a fantastic job by the PMDG crew.

Cheers,

Sean Franklin.

So stoked for this! Definitely something to show off if there's any videos prior to release.

I'm not gonna lie: while the 777 without a doubt will be impressive and probably will be added to my hangar at some point, the really good news about it getting released soon is that the development of the DC-6 will hopefully pick up again. That's the bird I'm really waiting for!

Greetings Ryan,

It regards to the white center-post.  Yes I think you are right that it must be a photo-shot glare/lighting "technicality" in regards to the center-post for the windshield being white. I noticed that in person in the real aircraft when this brown is exposed to bright light it does almost seem white but when viewed at more subtle light intensities the center-post is actually in uniform with the colour of the rest of the brown framing around the windows.

Nevertheless, it really does look great and I can't wait to purchase it.

All the best,

Sean Franklin.

Ryan, thanks a lot for your answer. Yes indeed, the center post could apppear a 'bit' white when exposed to exterior light, but it is exactly using the same color as the cockpit panels.

Here is a picture I took from an Air France B773 cockpit few days ago at the maintenance.

Cheers,

Josh.

All displays are popups, thx for that :-) :-)

That is the best info so far after finding out a while ago that there would not be a 2D panel!

Frankly I dont know how anyone can fly accurately without a 2D panel or at least the display popups on a second monitor.

I had no idea the B737 NGX has a complete 2D panel. Will be buying that immediately now that I know.

It's not complete.

It's missing the throttle quadrant. Still need to use that part of the cockpit through the VC.

Hi Alex, I hope you guys over at FS2Crew are gearing up, cos I can't fly this baby without a decent First!...;-)

Scream!

My wife looks at me funny when I 'talk' to my FO.

I actually prefer the button version the more I use it.
