Expect more details on this type of stuff later on - we'll highlight some of the improvements directly in other updates with video etc.

Great, thanks for the info Ryan.

Ah ok.

But on the 2D panel, do you see the PFD,ND and Engine Instruments (basically all you need to fly IFR)?

Yes, you can basically fly completely in 2D in the NGX, except that you can't access the throttle quadrant in 2D (so you only really need to go to the vc at engine start to move the fuel switches).

Look forward to the NGX updates as well. Not much to improve on though.

Really hoping the flight surfaces and animations are going to be much smoother in the 777 , the current NGX animations aren't the best.

I don't find anything wrong with the NGX animations.

I still have no idea what you're talking about with this and you're the only one who seems to bring it up - what specifically are you talking about?

I own only the PMDG B747, but perhaps Alex is referring to how the roll spoilers and yoke of some PMDG aircraft do not animate as smoothly as those of, say, the Level-D B767 and QualityWings B757.

For example, with high controller sensitivity settings, when one makes a full left input immediately followed by a full right input, the roll spoilers of the PMDG B747 react almost instantaneously, resulting in unrealistic "flappiness". When the same inputs are performed in the Level-D B767 or QualityWings B757, the roll spoilers rise and sink fluidly (perhaps due to simulated hydraulic fluid delay?).

The only issues I have is with the engine rotation, its rather studdery.

Which animations aren't up to par? I can't see anything on my NGX that is t top notch in terms of animated items.

The animations for the ailerons and spoilers look like they jump from point A to B in a small movement and are not smooth, I will gladly make a video if you'd like.

Quote from 911 magazine: "- ...RSR delivers unparallelled performance and stunning looks"

Besides the engine fans, nothing else seems really laggy to me, except sometimes when one is intercepting the LOC at a sharp angle, and the autopilot seems to command a high bank in a short time which causes the spoilers to not move fluidly.

Frankly I dont know how anyone can fly accurately without a 2D panel or at least the display popups on a second monitor.

I haven't used the 2D cockpit at all in the NGX. TrackIR helps a lot though for easy looking around while in the VC. The hatswitch is rather slow and inaccurate. But if you don't want to spend money on the TrackIR because it is expensive, you should consider EZdok Camera for use in the Virtual Cockpit. You can create, or import, camera views within the VC. You just assign that 1 will be the main view, 2 will be MCP, 3 FMC, 4 Radio stack and so on or what ever you desire. But all still in the VC. The only thing I use are the display popups when I fly manually for a more accurate display of the flight director. I then re-position the PFD to the lower middle of my screen, so I'm still able to look out the windows, and then the ND to the right of it when it's in APP. That's about as much I use it, and I'm happy that they continue to make the display popups. I understand why 2D is attractive to some, but with TrackIR and Ezdok Camera, or even just EZdok, I don't understand why anyone wouldn't use the VC, unless it's for home builds or a Commodore 64  ^_^

It's not complete.

It's missing the throttle quadrant. Still need to use that part of the cockpit through the VC.

Scream!

My wife looks at me funny when I 'talk' to my FO.

I actually prefer the button version the more I use it.

Okay, I'll do my best to do a 'Button Control' version as well... no promises, but hopefully... only a few people screamed  :P

The issue with the 777 which makes Button Control a tad more difficult compared to "Voice Control"  is the 777's Electronic Checklists.

Checklists in the 777 are handled somewhat differently than what you're all accustomed to in the NGX version of FS2Crew.

Based on Boeing procedures, it'll go like this in the 777.

PF: "Landing Checklist".

PM: Scans screen, checks everything is all green.

PM: "Landing Checklist Complete".

PF: Scans screen, confirms all green, speaks: "Landing Checklist Complete".

If an item is not green, the PM will stop the checklist and correct the item.

Note how the PM/FO does not read every item on the checklist like he'd do in the 737.

This is easy to model with Voice Control... button is a tad more complex - assuming something is not green- because it's more linear, but I can work around it.

The good news about the PMDG 777, however, is that the compared the 737NG, the 777 is a way more modern and automated airplane with much less pilot work load than the 737NG, which is still essentially a 1960's era design, save for the nice glass displays.

So this makes modelling a Crew Simulation for the PMDG 777 all that much easier  ^_^

Which is good news for FS2Crew  B)

I like the IRU align countdown time on the ND.

The only issues I have is with the engine rotation, its rather studdery.

That is easy to fix - simply increase the number of fps of the VC to at least around 25 fps and the problem will disappear, but you might get decreased overall performance!

Kind regards

+1, I cannot see what is wrong with the textures either???
