Very good combination, very enjoyable. Thank you webmaximus once again, saved me a lot of trouble finding out myself.

Yeah, I scratched my head too more than once trying to find a combination I liked but I'm very happy with this one and good to hear you are too :-)

I agree nothing beats FSGRW with REX and EZDOK. Opus was the best when it was launched, but they started adding more options and it's not so good anymore. And the fact it has no turbulence is a big no-no.

FSGRW is the best, in my opinion.

FSGRW, Flight Environment X (FEX) and EZdok, a truly winning combination. Permanent FEX themes in use (meaning I never change them because of the realistic results): Cloud theme (Naturally Dense), Sky Theme (Realistic Blues), Water Theme (Nicks). With FSGRW combined with FEX graphics, I've totally forgotten about weather and weather graphics in FSX. When I start FSX, it loads with the current weather in no time. And setting up EZdok is far from the nightmare someone suggested. Read at least the basic user manual (there are two) and follow the setup process carefully and methodically.

This FS global real weather sound really intresting. How are the winds aloft and oceanic winds?

All these different weather programs makes it hard to choose.

Actually... as a Opus user, I purchased FS Global Real Weather - and I must say, I'm quite impressed...

The weather depiction is accurate. Clouds, winds etc are all working perfectly... and no wind shifts (which drove me mad with Opus)...

And another thing I like with FSGRW, is the localized wind/weather conditions... 'Fohn-winds' at LOWI, special wind conditions at KDEN (because of Rocky Mountains etc)... works very well...

Best regards,

Yes FSGRW is being a very positive surprise for me. It does what it is supposed to do very well, and leaves space for products meant to enhance the graphics, should one need it. I use only the default P3D weather graphics, and it's more than enough...

Main Simulation Rig:

Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti, 1 TB & 500 GB M.2 nvme drives, Win11.

Lenovo TB310FU 9,5" Tablet for Navigraph and some available external FMCs or AVITABs

Simulators used: Condorsoaring 3 (for soaring) | XP12 (for almost everything else Aviation Simulation related...) | FS 2024 (for A320 simulation with the FENIX 320)

Check out the freeware HDEv2 package. Clouds, sky colors, etc are included.

I think it's better then any of the payware clouds or sky textures in the various texture addons.

I did interview Bernd

Holy cow.

After much trial and error, I got AS2012 doing what I wanted it to. But almost every time I go up to fly, I think of ways it might work just a bit better. A sort of "wouldn't it be nice if..." wish list. From the looks of that interview, Bernd has done it all and more, and in ways I didn't consider.

For example: There's no need for an extreme number of options if all you want is real weather. It should work the same way no matter how you fly, or where. While the options are nice to have, they end up being confusing. Also, there's a lot going on in the weather that the METARs don't report, and having them pre-processed with all the other stuff on a central server, then the result downloaded to the clients, is a great idea.

I'm not at all unhappy with AS2012, but it looks like FSGRW may turn out to be a great choice. Thanks for posting that interview.

No one tried out REX+OD with SP2? I made a brief flight yesterday and seems better than before. I always used to fly with ASE, but want to try REX just for test puprose and was not so bad. And you?

I purchased FSGRW yesterday after years of using ASE for FSX. I'm really impressed with it, smooth winds and no cloud pops yet and the local weather effects are really nice.
