Prepar3d V2.0 entering beta

Featured Replies

Folks, I am going to post this in the hope of managing expectations... Before I say what I have to say, full disclosure; I am not on the BETA test, I am not a signatory to the NDA from LM, and I have no inside information from LMOC about the feature list for V2, or even a product road map that address features beyond V2. I have not communicated with LMOC since our interview with them last year. Okay, with that out of the way, here's my thoughts for you to consider.

We have banned the posting of the list of features purported to be a definitive list of features included in V2. We have done that for the simple reason that if we allowed that, we would be allowing the busting of LMOC's BETA license and NDA's. Our policy on this is pretty clear and non-negotiable.

Secondly, as we relabeled another topic on the subject that was posted as a troll in the X-Plane forum, the validity of this list is in question, until such time as the NDA is released or when LMOC confirms the list.

I don't want to be a "Debbie-downer" folks, but let me ask you a question or two; what if this list is fake? What if it is 50% correct? What if it is so far away from reality that LMOC would be surprised to see anything like this floating around the net? I have no idea what the answer is, but there are those of you have swallowed this without any proof to substantiate it, and the sad part is that when the final V2 does show up, there are going to be many here that revert back to this supposed "real" list and castigate LMOC if every item in the list is not present.

If you are a BETA tester, you are under an NDA. If you are posting even a simple confirmation or denial of this list, you are violating your NDA. Smart people and developers on the BETA team will not do that. So, I would encourage everyone use a little common sense, take a deep breath, and wait for what really shows up in V2 before you get excited about what this list purports to be the feature set in V2.

Tom...the spectre of the ramp up to Microsoft's FLIGHT comes to mind after reading your post....and how so bitterly the community for the most part was left with....sure hope this doesn't become a carbon copy in the months following.....

Not everything. You will have to check the sites of the developers. Some addons have installers for FSX as well as P3D. Some don't have specific installers but can (officially) be used with P3D by copying files. And some addons may (or even can) not be used with P3D (PMDG planes being on the most important ones).

And btw the above goes for the current version of P3D: no one knows yet if everything that works with the current version, will also work with version 2.0.

"Oh lord...thanks...I'm getting a headache...."....

At one time I would never have even considered running P3D if it meant not flying my beloved NGX, but it looks like I may well end up jumping ships and flying the Airbus!

How about the iFly 737?

Hiya, I started off with the Ifly and IMO it's not even in the same ballpark as the NGX. Sure, it may be an option, but to be frank I think I'd prefer to fly the Airbus X from Aerosoft

I wholeheartedly agree with Howard! Not in the same league as the NGX :(

I think in terms of systems the iFly is close, but graphically for fsx it's not.

The 3rd parties will go where the money is and if that's P3D they will be there.

I'm building a cockpit so don't really care much about graphics -- systems, yes :)

have to say im very happy with the Airbus X Extended now at version 1.15 with the 18b hotfix

The fact it is fully supported in P3D is a nice bonus.

Its nice considering I got the airbus very early this year, didnt use it much, uninstalled it and now back again it feels like a new aircraft with all the fixes!

Very impressive for normal operations. I dont really have time for non-normal ops anyway!

Hi Rockliffe, I'm running P3D alongside FSX and always choose it for the Aerosoft Airbus, and well, for the Aerosoft everything!   Aerosoft have been brilliant with P3D; they've really embraced it and provided dual installers for everything.   The Aerosoft DR400 is also a hugely under-rated GA offering, easily on a par with the A2A 172 IMHO, and again I fly that in P3D, courtesy of Aerosoft's positive approach to P3D.

A typical P3D usage for me would be flying the Aerosoft DR400 across FTX EU ENG and SCO, or the Airbus between a couple of European Mega Airports.

The only problem I've had with P3D has been that I cannot use the FS ATC pop-up screen for some reason (it comes up corrupted).  This is a known problem for some P3D users.   (Hopefully fixed in V2).

I cant remember where i was reading it but one of these aircrafts or perhaps some other program was mentioned that it was developed within prepar3d. Maybe the Aerosoft CRJ or something. Aerosoft seems to be a large supporter of p3d, as well as orbx which i think will be the foundation for scenery. And ASN was developed within the new weather engine presumably because the weather bugs in FSX have been squashed.

Lets just say that the list of 3PDs supporting P3D is growing. (can get those abbreviations mixed up quick lol)

The hype in this thread reminds me when Flight was nearing release.

Perhaps, but look at the Feature List for P3D v2;  you couldn't get two more different products than Flight! and P3D 2.0.

So perhaps the hype is more deserving than the Flight! hype.

The hype in this thread reminds me when Flight was nearing release.

Aside from people being excited, what exactly is similar?

P3D has a very open development team, 3rd party developers are all on board, and the product isn't shrouded in secrecy.

That's pretty much the opposite of Flight!, where we didn't even know if the world was included a month out and you had developers starting to hint things were seriously wrong. 3rd party developers were locked out early on as well.
