Prepar3d V2.0 entering beta

Featured Replies

Everyone is excited about 'the feature list' but afaik the feature lists that are on the internet right now aren't official and no one knows what the source is. We better wait for LM to release the official feature list before we get too excited.

The hype in this thread reminds me when Flight was nearing release.

I beat you to it....exactly.

Oh..in afterthought, remember the sheer bitterness and reaction afterward?   For myself, been there, done that...have the T-shirt, and, so not going down that path anymore.....

I'll take a look at it, AFTER release, and not in my head, before.....

Can you still apply to the beta? That link someone pasted is long gone (404).

That probably means they got the people they needed and the  Beta is closed!!

Thanks

Prepar3d V2 is going to revolutionize the flight sim world ! Just went through the new features that will be implemented in v2 and oh *******! Just brilliant !

I am new to the P3D-Forum and i was also interested in taking a look to V2. But one question: will it really not be a 64Bit-version? How is it possible nowadays to develop it on 32Bit only? For me it doesn't sounds like a revolution because of this (huge) limitation, but i can be wrong.

It really won't be 64 bit because turning it into 64 bit is a huge undertaking. I doubt if it will ever happen. They might as well create a new sim from scratch.

64 bit would be nice, but not essential yet. Few PC games utilize it currently. Battlefield 4 and a few games being released this year are going to require it, but they are in the vanguard. DX11 is way more important than 64 bit for now.

Doesn't 64-bit allow massively more texture pre-loading into memory as far as that might relate to LOD for example?  While the core engine can only handle so much texture processing it seems it would be useful to have a larger cache of pre-loaded textures as it were, higher density textures as well, and so may enhance smoothness for example.  It seems intuitive but I'm not privy to the actual processing strategy involved.

Aircraft used in MSFS 2024:  Fenix A320,  Aerosoft CRJ, FBW, WT 787X, I-Fly 737 MAX 8, Citation Longitude.

I'm sure that they'll tune memory usage and make Prepar3D 2.0 a lot more efficient compared to FSX, which will help the matter a bit.

I think much of the high-res textures can be offloaded into vram on today's graphics  cards -- most of whom are in the 1-2GB range these days. Also autogen (which is mostly repetitive) no-longer has to reside in main memory and can also be off-loaded.

Basically the more they offload to the graphics card will reduce the memory load on the main application.

The feature list IS authentic.

The feature list IS authentic.

Based on?  Your a beta tester? The NDA permits you to publicly list the features?

If that list is a fake, someone's wasting a major talent on a minor scam.

Programming in 64bit versus 32bit mostly means that your variables are twice as long and take up more memory space. It is far from being nearly as much of an advantage as most folks might fondly imagine...

If you want to take the time, translate all the posts from the German and working back you'll find that the original "leaked" list was on a Russian site - translate those posts and determine for yourself whether it was leaked by a beta tester or not. IMHO, it was. IAC, why speculate? It should be released within a month or so.
