June 17, 201411 yr Excuse my apparent ignorance; who is GFWL? You guys throw acronyms around and most folks here don't know what you are talking about. Also, to those that think this announcement was some cynical attempt to increase AVSIM's traffic and hits, where the hell have you been for the last year??? The last thing we want is more traffic. We can't handle what we have unless we throttle guest access (which we are doing)... Good grief. The next time I see something like that posted, I am going to take it as impugning our integrity and react accordingly. Tom, you're not the only one who didn't know GFWL, had to Google it. lol GFWL=Games For Windows Live I'm pretty sure that if Microsoft sold off the licensing, they may not have it available for download in the Games For Windows Live anymore...time will tell. I'll take all the rumors with a grain of salt. I am perfectly happy with the way things are at present. Now IF at some point when we have to reinstall FSX and have to validate the license keys we own, THAT'S when we may have to worry. I have a backup plan though and it's called P3D. June 17, 201411 yr My guesses: Ubisoft, because they have definately the money, experience in flight-(games) e.g. HAWX. And last but not least they are dedicated also to DLC Wargaming they have also experience in flight simulation (world of warplanes), but less money. I don`t think it is Dovetail games, because afaik they didn`t attend to E3, but the ones above did. If I was doing the Sherlock Holmes thing, I would keep Dovetail very high on the list of suspects. http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2014-06-04-dovetail-games-grows-with-three-key-hires We are all connected..... June 17, 201411 yr Commercial Member Sorry to come in so late, but driving vehicles has been available for FS9 & FSX for many years. There has been Formula 1 racing cars as well as a F1 track. There are so many cars, trains, motor bikes & boats out there. Lionheart had a add-on for FS9 that told the story of a WWII german soldier & there was a truck to drive from one base to another, also a sub. So, we have cars, BWW's VW's, Porshe's, cop cars, trucks & a whole heap of stuff for us to drive around & check out our scenery. Bill Lyonns, in the old days, had a lot of releases that told a story. In each, there was as least a plane, boat/car/bike & a story line to link them all together. So, have a look at whats out there. I should have been more clear in my original post. While that is true and I am fully aware that those exist, there's still a few flaws. First off, FSX is not a driving based game. The handling characteristics of these vehicles are based on modified airplane flight models designed to just never lift off the ground. The handling of most FSX ground vehicles just feels off. Second, it still doesn't satisfy the feeling of getting out of your plane and walking to the car and getting in. You lose the immersion by having to select the vehicle in a menu. Last, the scenery immediately around most airports available for FSX, even today, is not THAT detailed. Grand Theft Auto V comes to mind. You can drive across a huge, very detailed and realistic looking city. You can drive to the airport, hop in a small GA plane, and just go fly. Of course, the physics are not great at all, but my point is the concept of a multi-vehicle simulator/game with a first person walking mode and realistic/believable handling physics. Flight was very close to making that a reality with the ability to get out and walk around, minus having multi-vehicle support. Brandon Filer

Agreed! Well, it didn't help that Microsoft behaved like asses in the lead-up to XBOX 1 release. I couldn't believe it. Its like they didn't understand their customers at all, or just didn't give a crap. They ###### an awful lot of people with that "We'll do anything we want, and you'll shut up and like it" attitude. The same one that endeared Windows 8 to so many people....... They did the same with Microsoft Flight! They do not care about the consumer! But let's not have a go at Microsoft...its quite hard to control a Multi-Billion Industry. For Microsoft, MSFlight would have been nothing more than just a little more profit unlike the XBOX 360. Microsoft Flight was just a hit and miss really. I guess we'll have to wait and see...13 days to go! <_< Kavinda J.D ^_^

June 18, 201411 yr ... 13 days to go? Was wandering about that too ... This thread is full of mystery.
June 18, 201411 yr I think he means that it is 13 days before Games for Windows Live is effectively "shut down". Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester
June 18, 201411 yr I think he means that it is 13 days before Games for Windows Live is effectively "shut down". Ah yes, that must be it, thanks. If only I had learned to count in elementary school  One can only hope shutting down GFWL doesn't mean the end of aerocache hunting, or flying multiplayer. That really would be the death blow :(

June 18, 201411 yr I feel sad if that is the case. Whilst I have never used MS Flight, I know that there are quite a few of you that do :( Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester
June 18, 201411 yr ... 13 days to go? Yup.. that's what I meant. GFWL will be closed down soon, then we should hear a reply from Microsoft regarding the platform as well as the game. I guess we'll have to wait and see...13 12 days to go! <_< Kavinda J.D ^_^
June 18, 201411 yr So soon? Damn. I hope the purchase that's still "up in the air" isn't going to mean trouble for Stonelance and the work he's done to support the game.
June 18, 201411 yr I'm sure Stone will do fine.... he seems to be quite enthusiastic with his ongoing work. But yes.... it's getting closer. So enjoy the multiplayer while it lasts! The last thing I want to do is to wish that I had played with other Flight players when it was available. A missed opportunity! You cannot buy content after the 1st of July, but you will be able to play offline without the LIVE Platform through the next toolkit. I think the content that you have on your PC, will remain, so it will be playable. ------------------------------------------------------------------- This topic is getting so many views, it's unbelievable! Kavinda J.D ^_^
June 18, 201411 yr It will be a real shame. Flight is still the best and most trouble free experience out there. I will still be using it even after the lights are out! I just hope someone is smart enough to reselect it from the Microsoft bone yard. I would buy it all over again. Steve
June 19, 201411 yr I can't give away too many details as it's a proprietary technology ... but basically if the app runs slower then the B-sync process will slow your body clock down and you will actually age less over the duration of usage. However, if you are more of a twitcher type that needs 60 or 120 fps then you could actually age faster during use ... there are warning labels attached to the B-sync probes but in case of death one is welcome to sue me. Or simply taking a break from some god awful 3rd party product that I'm integrating into my application that is literally driving me insane with meaningless error messages for those that can levitate ... and when that happens to me out "it" comes, I must look away and "express" myself as a release .... aaaaah I feel better anyway :) Just wanted to let you know that I sent you my deposit via PayPal, and will be patiently awaiting the release. Could you maybe modify it a little so I can use it with my Google Glass? And maybe a dream component, so when I go to sleep, I can still fly. Yeah, that would be neat. I already have the machine to run it on, but I can't turn it on quite yet without powering down the local wind farm. So let's git 'er done, bro! -= Gary Barth =-
