I'm just glad we are all getting along again...

People are forgetting this is a speculation thread.

If anyone actually had information they could share, it would be front page or on the P3D's website.

I am exited to see what 3.0 brings also but there is no point in getting all mad about it. 3.0 will be here soon and we will all be able to enjoy!

Flight Simulator's - Prepar3d V5/MSFS | Operating System - WIN 11 | Main Board - GIGABYTE X870E Aorus Elite WIFI7 | CPU - AMD 9800X3D | RAM - CORSAIR 64GB 6600Mhz | Video Card - EVGA RTX3090 FTW3 Ultra Monitor - DELL 38" Ultrawide | Case - CORSAIR 750D Full Tower | CPU Cooling - CORSAIR H170i Elite LCD 420mm Push/Pull | Power Supply - EVGA 1000 G+ | Sound System - Definitive Technology ProMonitor 600 w/subwoofer

Yes, but not `what` or `when`.  :Shame On You:

That's why this topic exists, so we can make up wildly speculative ideas and float them. Like

Oh really?

I see that according to John Venema at Orbx they've had V3 for a while for testing and according to him it's more like V2.6 rather than offering anything major.

Cheers,

Geoffrey Easton

That's interesting and if that's the case too bad because I'm sure I'm not the only one been hoping for something more than that with v3 and with DX12 released etc.

All I am bothered about is whether v3 includes significant improvements to VAS management, and whether I can use all of my existing addons. DX12 and 64bit can wait if those two essentials are confirmed

Is Orbx not under a NDA?

Personally I would be more than happy to ditch all my current add-ons in favor of true DX12 support and/or 64bit with the chance to finally being able to utilize my hardware in a more 2015 kind of way.

It depends what you mean by 'anything major'. Right now, one of the major issues is better VAS management. In my opinion, if V3 does nothing more than fix this alone, that IS a major step forward. That's the only expectation I have.

That's true Erich, would certainly be a major and very nice thing if they managed to solve the VAS issue!

Ok... so there's one game released with DX12 support. One. You truly expect DX12 support in Prepar3D already? I suspect you've also been very, very disappointed every December holiday of your choice. LOL

The game... "Ashes of the Singularity" showed significant performance increase for AMD video cards over DX11, but for NVidia cards the improvement was much less because the NVidia cards already performed very well with DX11.

Some of you have bought into the marketing hype of a new DirectX version quite heavily. I wouldn't.

True but that's at this current time and no one knows when we will actually be able to lay our hands on P3Dv3 and neither do we know what communication channels LM has with MS and for how long LM might have had DX12 to play around with behind locked doors.

Then DX12 or not I think most of us can agree at one point in time something major needs to happen to bring up the software on the same level as today's hardware.

VAS management and a true full screen and I will be happy for the next 10 years.
