Active Sky Cloud Art for FSX & P3D - Released!

Keep in mind Gerard does NOT operate with a VC -- allowing him for considerably more performance potential (and hence cloud draw distances).

Cheers, Rob.

...fingered that one out from the vid...still, I wanna know about my perception that his rig has a motion Base, and the particulars there-of.

Thanks,

Chas

Hi Chas,

Yes , those are my settings.

I use 3 seperate VC views connected as one wide view.

That is coating performance so I have framerate at Unlimited , VSync on , monitors at 24 hrtz and dxtory at 24 too.

Have installed the trial AS2016 and been for a couple of flights in a heavy weather scenario but I am struggling to observe any difference/improvement over ASN. The menu options seem very similar and I have identical options set in both ASN and As2016.  If anything I'm getting less fps with AS2016 but still testing this.  Where should I be looking for the big changes AS2016 has brought to the table that others in this thread have alluded to?  Thanks.

My poor creditcard :-(

I'm using DXT ... I kinda prefer clouds a little fuzzier ... in real world when flying thru or very close to clouds they most definitely don't have an "edge" ... it's only view distance that make them seem "edge" like.

Thanks again , Rob. I never thought of the relationship in those terms. Hot fixes applied last night, FTX Unification update applied - all reported as being well so 'first light' later today, hopefully :)

Regards,

Mike

Did a flight yesterday around Samos (LGSM) and the feeling when flying through clouds was just so real using AS16 (without ASCAS). The cloud plumes passing by look overwhelming and the in-cloud turbulence was well simulated. Although it has been said many times before, Hifi did a great step forward with its latest AS16 as compared to the already great ASN.

Regards,

Chris

My assumption is that you still get dynamic processing for those "elements" still "checked" under Enabled Content.  So if Sky Colors are NOT checked, but Cirrus, Cloud Textures, and Cloud Structures are checked, then those 3 checked elements will get the dynamic processing?  Is that accurate or false?

I'm not sure why I have two Prepar3D v3 listings there, have reported issue and tried to edit one out of the AS16 cfg but no success.

Cheers, Rob.

Yes, I installed it, I didn't notice any difference in performance ... I didn't measure VAS.

Cheers, Rob.

So with these settings in ASCA, how do you configure REX 4 Texture Direct with Soft Clouds?

Uncheck High-Level Clouds, Low-Level-Clouds and Lightning? And check Dawn Sky Effects, Day Sky Effects and Dusk Sky Effekts?

Is this right, so ASCA does the clouds and Rex the Sky? What if i want the Rex soft clouds texture?

Sorry for the questions but im not a natural english speaker.

I cannot believe that you are not seeing a dramatic difference in AS 16 compared to ASN... The weather generation in AS 16 is an entirely new experience in simming..

He's not the only one. I can't see it either.

The AS16 trial version, can I install it without uninstalling the ASN?

I wanted to load the Sim in the same area and compare both before doing the purchase.

Another thing, PMDG, Aerosoft and other manufactures are using ASN APIs to have the weather radar, anyone tested the radar with AS16?
