July 12, 20196 yr It is probably like driving your old car when you have a new fancy one on order. But I'm not going to stop driving. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

Do you think your CTDs will magically go away with code from the same company? That pre-supposes that they will use the same old code from 13+ years ago. Really? Also, if the information online is true, the company may be Microsoft but the developing studio could be completely different (ASOBO?). What's more, the default ESP sims don't regularly CTD, that only starts to happen when you add third party products to them which push them to places they were never designed to go. Modern sims like DCS have excellent graphics, highly detailed complex aircraft with possibly the best flight models and don't regularly CTD. Game engines have moved on! If you want a glimpse of the ghost of Christmas future, just take a look at the PMDG Jetstream. They still can't get it running in P3D v4 with all its system running properly, and FSX and P3D are very similar. So I hope you like your default planes 🙂 My personal guess as a developer is that most people will be using P3D V5 in 2020 and 2021, and then once PMDG, Aerosoft, FSLabs etc., start figuring out how FS2020 works then people will start moving over. No I rather fly default msfs2020 ac than one more time p3d. I just can’t deal anylonger with the terrible performance and old graphics. Lukas Dalton

Then I suggest you spend millions of dollars like some of us did on addon scenery, utilities and airplanes and at least stutter and fume while flying in the best of 2006(ish) style!

It just looks outdated and boring, even before MSFS2020 is released. The first new flight I will be firing up is going to be in MSFS2020. Is it just me? Hi Nas, I moved to X-Plane 11 with the introduction of True Earth for Great Brittain and it's truely wonderful. X-Plane 11 is an amazing sim but there is plenty I miss from FSX and I'm so looking forward to MSFS 2020 when it's released. You can certainly have a great experience simming right now largly thanks to the steller 3PD developers out there who have dragged our hobby into the 21st century. I also use Reshade with X-Plane to get it looking reasonable but I'm pretty happy with the planes, flight model and (UK) scenery now. The weather is the only thing which remains sub par. Even FSX had better weather. Xenviro 1.10 improves things but it's still not as good as Dovetail's FSW in my opinion.
July 13, 20196 yr I hope the OP is willing to wait possibly 1 year before flying again . Raymond Fry.

The flight sim market is harsh, whether it's Aerofly, P3D, XP, and now MS, ALL will have to keep making strides to keep up so you either rewrite upgrade or fold but I'm betting a rewrite for P3D. July 13, 20196 yr It would be great if P3D v5 was a revolution, but the upgrades so far have been minor in my opinion. HDR lighting is probably the only significant upgrade I enjoy, and only after heavily manipulating it with PTA. Avatar mode and better water is also nice, otherwise it looks and feels pretty much like FSX SP3. I have no doubt all the optimization and 64 bit coding took a lot of work, but visually P3D is outdated, even with the full ORBX regions. It's still a great flight simulator, but I'm more keen on using the sim for exploring and having fun, and the new MSFS seems to fit the bill. I'm also very keen on the new Deadstick Simulator in the works. I couldn't care less if there wasn't a realistic airliner in the new MSFS, but not having the old props from A2A would be a real bummer. It was hard enough to see RealAir leave the scene a few years ago. Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!

The FSlabs, and P3D in general feels so bland to me lately. I am almost uninstalling it completely. I personally don’t understand this, but I am sorry that you don’t enjoy it anymore. July 13, 20196 yr Perhaps people are just suffering from addon fatigue. I dont think I should have to pay $59 for aftermarket ATC, and $79 for aftermarket weather generators, and $19 for aftermarket networking/configuration utilities, just to get the base platform up to a particular standard. It would be nice if MS put some effort into major features that have historically been up to 3PD to address. There would still be no shortage of possibilities for 3PDs to develop aircraft, scenery, and utilities. Eventually everybody stopped selling cassette tapes, BetaMax, VHS, and Polaroids because the market evolved and the consumer moved on. Since you're an experienced business owner, I won't pretent to teach you anything on the subject. But I'm curious why you're coming into a consumer forum and expecting sympathy because you have might have to start trying a bit harder to separate me from my money? Stop complaining and start thinking up something awesome that I want to buy. I know that's unfair at this moment because we don't know what the lay of the land will be with MSFS, but you get my point.
