That doesn't make me more qualify than you are to test a flight simulator. The Ytbers are not the tester. They are their to promote the game, the real tester have been reported every imaginable bug you can even think of. It's not because they are not fixed in the YTbers release build that it wasn't reported. Asobo is fixing issue based on their priorities list. Your entitlement that YOU should have been in the alpha is just you being salty. I am sorry. There is no other way to say it.

Yes, and I'm still amazed by the power of that self-deception, when everything about the modern gaming industry in the last 10 years+ tells you to remain sceptical, don't preorder, hope for the best, but don't expect a miracle product because these don't exist.

Asobo has its own team of internal testers who are trained and follow set procedures (we saw their recruiting ad).  The Beta people stressed tested the servers, found and reported bugs which were then reviewed, prioritized and confirmed by the internal testers and then passed to the programmers.  Many bugs were fixed.

The Beta group was not the testers.  Far from it.

Well.... I'm not sure I agree with all that.  If we as a community don't support this product, we will have sent a message that is not in our collective best interest.  Like other new sims before it, MSFS is absolutely a major leap forward.

I remained skeptical (I got as far as cautiously optimistic), didn't pre-order, hoped for the best and didn't expect miracles.

Then I got in the Alpha, flew in the sim as it existed then, saw the best of MSFS and the worst of MSFS (Gawd I HOPE what I saw was the worst), still didn't  pre-order and saw more miracles than I ever would have hoped for.

My enthusiasm waxes and wanes according to the tenor of the various forums, but all it takes is a half hour of flying and I'm happy.  That's the power of MSFS.

I may have mentioned this before, but it's not perfect, it's not finished, and it's still just a flight sim. 😄

Well Tony, I am not sure how to take your post either 😉 ! From its early beginning, the FS franchise has always been designed as a game. Nothing wrong. Nothing new ? 

Something is new. The team leaders, Neuman and Wloch, said early on that they had the hardcore simmer in mind while designing the sim. Were they obliged to say that. Nope. The amazing presentation trailers are also showing an unusual high level approach. The community was bound to think that the new sim would be very special. And it may very well be. Wel'll see. On this premise and with the ambiguity of what he word  XbOx carries, the community has built a psychodrama as it loves to. Business as usual here.

I belong to the simmers who want this hobby to stay as a high-level game and not been dumbed down to please the XB crowd. If I am an elitist, I do not consider that as a sin. I think that the only new comers who will stay, will come because they have  intellectual curiosity about aviation, a desire to learn and not because the game is easy. 

Your point of view is one of a seller, nothing wrong, Orbx is a great company which has done much to make this hobby what it is , the more sales, the happier the shareholders are. All good. Mine is one of a modest simmer who wants his hobby to progress up and not down to make sales. Quality-wise.

But the sim IS already special. Maybe not in the way you would prefer it but for most simmers and even casual gamers I would say it is special and revolutionary.

But what does that even mean, "supporting a product"?

We are consumers, we can make the choice to buy a product and associated addons or to refrain from doing so. If you go down the road to becoming "fans" who have to "support" a developer or particular product, who have to be grateful that a gaming company has the grace of developing something for you, and maybe preorder something as soon as you're allowed, you're already lost. You have already told the publisher that they don't even have to properly test the product, make sure that's it's mostly feature complete.

And this is exactly how we came into this mess in the first place, where with every new big gaming release, you constantly have to suspect it will be an unfinished and unpolished mess.

My answer to that is.."We have heard all that before". Now that does not mean that they are the same as those before them at all. It does mean that their is some valid reason to take it with a grain of salt. I am sure they are good at what they do and mean well. You just have to understand that MS is a very big world wild machine. These Dev's sit a long way from the guy who writes thir check and decides what FS2020 is going to be.
