Did they touch the numbers to make older generations look worse? My 1070 does 30-40 in large cities at 1440 with high-end preset.
I don't even go THAT low with some stuff on ultra like I am playing now.

R5 3600 - GTX 1070OC - 32GB 3200 - NVME - 3440x1440 160Hz - VR(Quest 2)

We sure need that DX12 update - or any CPU optimization before then.

Keep an eye out for digital foundry, they have a MSFS 3080 test coming out imminently

Still buying a RTX 3090 though.

New PC Ryzen 9850X3D - 32gb ddr5 6000Mhz - MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk wifi - Gigabyte wind force gaming OC 5090 - 2TB Sabrent NVMe. Old PC - Ryzen 5900x - 32gb 3600Mhz RAM - Asus Strix X570-F Motherboard - ASUS TUF OC RTX 3090 - 1TB Sabrent NVMe. AOC AGON 32" 144Hz - Honeycomb Yoke - Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog. T Flight Rudder Pedals - Trackir.

3080 is not good enough for VR then. Hoping the 3080ti or 3090 will do better. We probably need a high end 40-series to make FS really shine in VR

So in the first benchmark 1440p the difference is 1 FPS with the Ultra Preset

While in the second benchmark the difference is 4 FPS with High Quality

In total : if you do not use 4K or are satisfied with 30 FPS you do not need to replace your 2080 (Ti) by a 3090

I guess I'll be keeping my 1080ti

I think it shows that the 3080 is a good 4k card, but other than that, not much point in upgrading from a 2080Ti at the moment.

I am happy with 1440 at 130 scaling and TAA anyway on my 23 inch monitor.  I can see enough detail, read all of the instruments, and no real jaggies.

Engine optimisations will come, but I don't expect massive improvement.  We all live in hope of getting that extra 10 fps for nothing, but normally there will be a cost in quality.

I think the instrument refresh rate hack has brought the best fps improvement we will see in the sim.

PS. this doesn't mention much about if it becomes CPU locked with the bigger card, but nice to see the 1080Ti results are roughly in line with what I see.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

It also depends on ram and CPU, which the benchmark doesn't mention.

it is a good card, when i not game in VR i play usualy at 4K on a 40" and the 3080 can play red dead redemption 2 over 60fps at 4k (max settings) my 2080ti hits only maximal 50fps. Well it looks different in MSFS, but we are at the beginning anyway.

Been refreshing the page all afternoon. Hopefully it's more profound than these. Hopes are low though, even Eurogamer are simnoobs.

An average at 48 fps at 1440p and 40 fps at 4K should be OK for VR with reprojection/spacewarp, unless you can't live with reprojection. Flight sims aren't exactly fast action games, and most of the time I don't really notice when P3D is running at an average of 40 - 45 fps in VR and reprojection make up for the missing frames.

All these benchmark only proof what I was saying for weeks. The game is CPU bound and a RTX 3080 will not help you in MSFS. The game needs DX12

It's not the absolute numbers that matter so much as the relative performance.

Now I'm really debating weather or not to update my 1080TI...Thoughts? I game at 1440p currently.

Also, when do we expect the DX12 update from Microsoft?
