Hopefully the new patch adds a bit more performance into the sim but I am happy with my *cough* 20 FPS *cough* as of today.

There is no way on earth that I am going to upgrade my Graphic Card without upgrading my CPU.

It's all about the resolution you want to run the sim. Even with a high end CPU a 3000 series card does not bring you much at 1080. At 4k it helps a lot.

The 3080 is not to 'blame', it's the largest performance/$ ratio jump for video cards in a decade. MFS is in need of DX12.

Although I don't have a 4K monitor at present, I do have 3*1080 monitors although don't usually fly using all three, does anyone know what sort of performance boost a 3080 would give me if I fly at 3*1080 for now? A 3070 might be an option for me, as it would still be a massive boost in performance after upgrading from a 1070.

What do they need to do to upgrade to DX12? Is it planned? Sorry if this question has been answered, and I think I remember reading about it somewhere else, but I forget.

The higher in DX means not only more/better features but also the GPU can take over some tasks from the GPU.

So DX12 is taxing the GPU more and gives some breathing space to the CPU compared to DX11.

Hopefully DX12 will come within a couple of months..

Lets hope they redo some of the tests after they upgrade to 1.8.3

I'm happy with my 2080 Super performance. I'm running at 1440 with ultra settings and am getting very smooth performance at 30fps (V-Sync). My TV is a 4k set, but the sim looks fantastic to me.

I'll be getting a 3080ti down the road, probably 6 months or so. I want to see the fallout of release, and if the new Radeon cards will cause another price drop by Nvidia.

Based on those numbers my 2070 super is just fine.

Looks like there's no reason to immediately upgrade from my 1080ti; at least in terms of MSFS. For other applications, probably will upgrade.

Yeah, my 1080ti will stay for some time too.

The RTX3080 provides a substantial upgrade to anyone using Pascal - even the 1080ti when you also consider you will be getting RT.

If you have a 2070 or above though it's a harder decision.

the benchmarks are already obsolete, we need new one after ignition with the latest patch (1.8.3.0).

Not too useful a benchmark as it states nothing about VRAM use, which is where my RTX 2070 Super starts to wilt w/ its 8GB. To fly the gentle TBM930 out of FSDT KORD we had to drive down many sliders to HIGH, and that was primarily because of saturated VRAM it appeared, after which frames tank from vsync 30Hz.   RTX 3090 is in the cards for me.
