Bert..I never said that Carenado's marketing tactics are honest...in fact Ive spent years complaining that they are essentially DIShonest because of the very fact's you just mentioned about that.

But that is an entirely different can of worms as far as my previous point. Most of us who have been around for years are already well aware of their marketing ad copy being fodder and should realize by now what Carenado's true business model is. They themselves in countless emails keep telling us that their products are supposed to be geared towrds the more casual, entertainment based end-user.

The only time there's an issue with that is when you get us hardcore users EXPECTING that their business model will change. It's one thing to have hope or to wish...but to  expect is another thing. If you buy one of their planes after 20 years of having the same issues over and over, then it becomes your problem and not theirs (short of their bs ad copy, with which I fully agree is bogus and misleading). If anytthing they should be made to change their ad copy, truly.

Again really good points! (we're really all agreeing on the main points of contention, and I see this now as not a battle of who's right, but a discussion of why us crazy hard-core simmers keep thinking (hoping more realistically) that a cheetah can change his spots, a zebra can change their stripes, etc, LOL)

I personally, was hoping that we'd see a change in behavior with such a radical new platform...it would be the perfect time for Carenado to "change its spots".

Allow me to theorize here and force my will upon Carenado (hehe).

This new market is HUGE...so much more potential for 3rd parties that I can't imagine how they've been waiting for this.

Anyway, it seems Carenado wanted a quick cash-grab (again, not faulting them), quickly ported the 182 with a level of effort (LOE) we can only speculate on.  This is fine.  I get it.  In fact we saw other well known, reputable devs do the same (cough, cough, London City).  We also know that "other" dev got burned...bad, got called out, and to their credit...pulled it back, fixed it, and released it at a lower price.  THAT is what I want every 3rd party dev to strive for.

Soo....Carenado, you made some money, I suspect you can fix these things, go do what other reputable devs are doing, let us see that you've changed your spots, and we'll regale you with praises unknown to your ears thus far, and shower you with more cash than you can possibly spend in a lifetime!

Guys, lets stop the Carenado bashing.. that is not what this is about.

They have done better before, at least at the basic level, and surely, they can again.

I, for one, fully expect them to fix this... just impatient.. 😉

Me too.  Guys, why don't you guys start a private chat and have it out and leave us to explore the new Mooney.

I finally got the avionics stack to light up just long enough to spoil me.  I climbed to 10,000 feet to check the speed and fuel flow and about 30 seconds after I was level and playing with the mixture the stack goes black again.  I think I will watch the U.S. Open Golf and hope someone is working on this problem.

Who knows how to capture our personal fuselage numbers? I'm guessing there is a cfg file someplace where we can edit it to keep the numbers for future use.  I'm here via Steam.

Open the aircraft.cfg file for each aircraft (you have to edit each one manually unfortunately), and adjust the following lines (again, once for each livery):

atc_id = "XXXXXX" ; tail number
atc_id_enable = 1 ; enable tail number
atc_airline = "XXXXXX" ; airline name
atc_flight_number = "XXXXXXX" ; flight number

 

where XXXXX is what you want your aircraft and flight to be identified as.

 

You'll need to do this in the Community folder and Official\OneStore\ folder (that's for the Xbox/MS Store version, so the Steam location will be slightly different).

 

Edit: Oh, and backup those folders first in case you mess up!😉

You want to try something funny... Do some leaning in the default Cessna 172, or default Bonanza... Exact same behavior. First 10-20% of reducing mixture will increase fuel flow. I just tried them back to back, followed by the Mooney, all the same. So if you want to complain to someone, go to Asobo. Instead of blaming me for somehow enabling Carenado... Talking about ego.

Nope, this 3rd party paid airplane I expect them to get basic functionality right. What do we pay $30.00 for? For 3D model?

I was stupid enough to buy M20R in hope that Carenado do a better job. But I have sentimental issues with Mooney because I got my CFI initial in it. if it’s ok with you to pay extra for basically default model with new 3D overlay it’s your choice. But it’s not ok with me and other folks who care . Again I don’t expect a study level from Carenado just basic.

Notice: high quality developers like A2A and PMDG didn’t rushed to release their product because that either want to get it right or get Asobo to update SDK .

As far as Asobo goes I filed this bug early in March during alpha test . Mixture actually not as bizarre  in default as in M20R. Although you right it’s wrong on Asobo side as well. 

With Carenado I got 8gph with full power during take off. And 16gph after leaning at the same altitude .This is just very wrong !

Im pretty alive for ignored person  huh ? 🙂

aircraft.cfg not found.  I think it is the actually aircraft.cfg file and there is not one here.  Asobo might have it locked up someplace.

Here is the path for a steam installation.

How many Carenado/Alabeo add-ons have you purchased?

I was tempted, but I am not going to buy a zigzagging airplane with failing avionics.

Am I a crazy person now or should I take my medication? 😛🙃
