Is there a MSFS shader cache which has to be deleted from time to time?

If you own the steam version:  (whatever):\FS2020\steamapps\shadercache

I looked closely in DX12 to try to spot differences - water reflections, cloud edges, shadowing etc. but I couldn't see anything.

I thought there may be the slightest difference to the colouring - more saturation, but I am not even sure of that now.

If there are any changes they must be so subtle to the degree they are not worth it when taking into account the lack of smoothness (stuttering when looking around in my case).

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

Hopefully someone will post some actual comparison images, seems like this would be a very easy thing to prove or disprove.

[MSI MPG X870E Carbon | 9800X3D (PBO +200Mhz / -20 Offset) | Corsair 64GB DDR5 (Custom Timings) | RTX 4090 Founders Edition (Undervolted) | WD SNX 850X 4TB + 4TB | Antec Flux Pro]

I am also getting a much improved experience with DX12.

Here is my post on the official msfs forum

I am getting an arguably better experience with DX12. For me DX12 provides better color saturation with HDR on and a bit better lighting overall. I have also noticed better reflections and better cloud shading. Frames rates are almost same but I DO get a bit of stuttering but that's not a big issue.

Render scale 90%
All graphics settings ultra except for LOD which is at 300

I agree, I can feel a lot more DX now. except for my 3 Carenado aircraft, they crash immediately. I guess that was too much DX for them, but default C172 no problem whatsoever. DX12 works also great after the new WorkingTitle CJ4 update to v12.9. is there a slider or tweak setting hidden in the UserOpt.cfg to adjust the amount of DX, where I can change it to perhaps DX 11.5 or DX11.7 or a tool to change the DX level per airplane?

It may as well be merely a case of good booze: it's already proven that it makes all women appear more attractive.

If it works with women it can certainly work with a DX12 wrapper as well 🙂

7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber

It can be changed with a click of a button (ok you have to re start the sim).

Try it, see if it is better, if not why bother.

There is this curious internet thing, where someone does something then tries to convince everyone else its the best thing.....

Makes me wonder really, who are they really trying to convince...?

Ryzen 5 3600 / RTX 2070 8GB / 2x8 RAM/

Agree with OP and they have outlined the observations well. It's suttle but there is defintely an improvement with the DX12 implimentation. Am running a 1080ti and get good frames and stutters are less trouble away from metropolitan areas, in the clouds it's just.... better. The lighting in the sky / clouds is what I notice the most. Although I can't say I noticed the scenery lighting in the same way, very much looking forward to the future of DX12 with MSFS>

Do we need perhaps specific adjustments in the Nvidia CP?

"Do we need perhaps specific adjustments in the Nvidia CP?"

what we need is some LDS adjustments so we can all share the DX12 revelation of the OP. was he also part of the free speech movement in the 60s ?

I also picked up in most places an extra 1 or 2 FPS, but nothing below my normal 29/30 floor.

you provide not s single comparison screenshot to proof your statement, therefore I find it absolutely not credible especially when everybody else reports on average around 10-20 fps less and more stuttering. all your screenshots show a constant 30 fps, which you'll get with 60Hz half monitor refresh or fps limitation in MSFS or Nvidia CP, no matter if DX11 or DX12.

David Mills produced a great DX12/DX11 comparison video, that says it all. if anybody sees any performance or visual improvements in DX12, can I have some of your LDS please:

If you watch the video closely, in the DX12 version there is a snake hidden under a bush, which is not implemented in DX11.

It may be the cause of the ssssss-ssstuttering.

Here is another comparison video for you. Not everyone is getting worse performance with DX12.

From the comments.. Interesting

Even in DX11, disabling that map gave me an extra 5 FPS.

I don't know if I'm seeing placebo, but the earth colors and overall balance looks more natural.

.. but then again, this is a forum where certain people can't tell the difference between LOD 100 and LOD 400. Or 512x512 and 4096x4096 textures.
