This wasnt working in 5.2 either without the update you can find here: https://forum.simflight.com/topic/91124-makerunways-64-bit-release-version-511-released-includes-msfs/ I'll stick with 5.2 HF1 too until further information about the CPU stuff. I am currently running my 9900KF with HT off at 5.3GHZ stable with ~55° and a vCore of 1.295. Probably for v5.3 I need to active HT again and downclock a bit the CPU. Lets see if there will be more detailed reports for the new stuff :) Cheers, Bernd🌈✈️

Ray, you have everything you need to know already. Your CPU has 6 physical cores if HT is set to off. I think you told me not long ago, that you have HT turned off an overcklocked the corespeed to 5 MGhz. If that´s the case it means you can spread the P3D on the 6 cores as you like. Most important thing to consider is that on every Intel CPU the famous "0"-core is that one which is recognised by most of the software threads as the "Main"-CPU and that´s why this core is utilised most. Also Windows puts all it´s main Operations as the OS into core zero. All those drivers and services which are running to offer the OS invironment to all parts of your setup. Now it sounds you can tell P3D which threads (render, coomputations, texture loads etc.) of P3D you want to be done on which core, just for spreading the workload, and P3D benefits from it. So you could leave the zero core for your OS and put the threads of P3D onto the other 5 cores left. With HT ON, whre you would have 6 physical cores still, but beside them 6 additional "virtual" cores, so 12 threads in total, you could spread the P3D threads onto the other 10 cores from 3 to 12 by reserve the core 0 and core 1 for your OS. But with the difference, that the overcklocking maxsetting (5GHZ) is only working on core 0/1 in this case. P.S. you could just try what works best for you, because if you try HT off with overclocking, or HT ON with or without OC, and/or this or that affinity masking, usually doesn´t harm you system. Just bear in mind which was the setting for you before starting testing. Then you can just go back to this setting and for the System it would be as it was never changed at all. December 3, 20214 yr I have never been so happy with other renditions with FS2004/FSX/P3D as I currently have with V5.2. Zero issues since July after 50+ flights in the sim packed with multiple add-ones. Hence, I'm quite reluctant to move toward 5.3 as I don't see major addition/fixes. Looks like the biggest issues, dusk/dawn colors with EA on + VClouds coverage and clouds' shapes haven't been solved yet. 9950X3D, X870E ROG CROSSHAIR HERO, Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB DDR5-6000 PC5-48000, ASUS RTX 5070Ti 16GB, 9100 PRO 4TB Samsung ,990 PRO 4TB Samsung, AX1600i 1600 Watt 80 Plus Titanium ATX, ASUS 360 ARGB EXTREME 360mm Liquid CPU Cooling Kit.

I downloaded a new version but that doesn't work either. What else could be causing this? Please go to the FSUIPC Support forum and report this with the crash details from the Event Viewer and the Log file ("Runways.txt"). It runs fine here with 5.3 (with no add-on scenery). I'll be checking it over the weekend on my cockpit, which I'm planning on updating to 5.3 later today. There lots of add-on scenery on that PC. So basically if I shut off all road traffic I "may" get back to where I was before, I think that may not be true. It may have to do with the new option for traffic on smaller roads. It seems the settings can be dialed down to highway traffic only, probably equivalent setting to 5.2 and before, and restoring the FPS. December 3, 20214 yr Moderator @BerndB, I don’t really have everything I need. I don’t know what settings are best for my CPU. It’s up to the user to work it out for themselves by experimentation. I’m really not prepared to go down that path. I believe LM should have provided some guidance with this update given it’s a radical departure from any previous version. If others want to experiment and report their findings I’m sure many of us who are hesitant to update will appreciate their efforts. Have you updated yet? It’s not the changes to the BIOS that bother me or even the AM settings. Those are easily reversible. It’s updating to v5.3 with all that that entails, running numerous tests and at the end possibly finding nothing beats what v5.2HF1 provides. Then having to revert. Uugghh! No thanks! 🤨 Ray (Cheshire, England). I'm not sure that this analysis is factually correct, @SteveW is this right, or is the windows Jobscheduler clever enough to work around P3D's rendering thread? I posted the advice from Beau earlier. The problem is there are an infinite variety of hardware, add-ons and use cases which there is no one catch all answer for. The elegance of this solution is that it allows huge flexibility in how you can get the best from P3D for any use case, the downside is you have to figure out what that is for you 🙂 Kevin Firth - AMD 9800X3D; Asus Prime X670E; 64Gb Cas30 6000 DDR5; RTX5090; AutoFPS
