I am really getting tired of all these updates

I don't know what the line about a paid subscription means.  Seems like baseless conspiracy, but perhaps I'm misunderstanding.

Exactly what I said about pay-for-view sports a decade or two ago.  That as tonight I sit and watch a MLB.TV game via paid annual subscription.

I love these updates. Keep them coming.

This sim gets better every day, and I don't get bent out shape by the occasional setbacks.

I'm still missing (for me) important updates like a comprehensive save flight function, historical weather, an improved ai engine, just to name my top three personal preferences. I mean there is still enough to update but I'm not sure that the current approach which mainly relies on a voting system is the best one.

Every "Game as a Service" will get updates as long as the service is kept up.

Welcome to the 2020's of modern software entertainment.

Games that dont get several updates per year are perceived "dead" by the majority of the community.

Look at World of Tanks, Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, FS2020, Hell Let Loose, Assassins Creed, Steel Division, Transport Fever , Sturmovik, DCS World, and many more...

At least it seems that those chaps who defined MSFS as a “toy” are slowing disappearing…

Considering that VFR is generally much more challenging than a typical IFR scenario, I also don’t see the point in trying to dismiss MSFS as a less serious competitor using that argument. Being able to navigate through realistic terrain and get to your destination without relying on modern tools is very enjoying and just not possible in P3D with its crappy default terrain.

Besides, with the FBW, MD-82, C310+GTNXi, and the incoming PMDG/Fenix offerings, those folks that say that they can’t get their IFR kick from MSFS are almost certainly in denial at this point.

Hi Greg, but so many frequent updates makes up the need for hotfixes or patches too. Less frequent updates makes the sim more robust and the need of hotfixes disminishes.

Hope you're doing great!.

Hi Ed, if those updates don’t break multiple things than indeed less would be better

Pretty word not allowed sure that also those still defending the update policy by Asobo will start their whine if one of their top addons are affected. Means: this number of users will greatly increase as soon as all those nice planes like PMDG, Fenix etc. are out. Besides the fact that also the devs of those will raise their voices when Asobo break their product every second month...

the response was p3d and xplane is dead FOR ME.  which is obviously stated as an opinion.  and you cracked down on the second thing.

It's alright tho, Ray.  None of us expect you to be objective about msfs.

It’s not obviously an opinion unless someone prefixes a statement with that. If they don’t the lines are blurred between a fact and an opinion.

I have not mentioned my opinion about MSFS in this topic. I’m here purely to police the topic. That’s my last word on this.

We are now approaching 2 years of the release. I fully expect that, starting from next year, the update cycles will be reduced. Personally, I think they are still needed, considering that there are still issues to be corrected and features to be included.

In any case, it is actually quite impressive what Asobo/MS are doing here when it comes to World Updates. I can't name a single gaming title that kept offering HUGE DLC releases FOR FREE at this point in their life-cycles.

Having started with FS5.1 as a 10 y.o., MSFS is delivering much, much more than what I have always wished for in a simulator! And it will only get better from here...

Ain't that the truth.

I'll take updates every week if they make the sim better. So far since release day, they haven't been an issue at all. All of the drama, just makes me shake my head. Go get an Xbox if it's too much to deal with.

It's really getting crazy with all these updates, I feel, it really stops u from playing the sim., and enjoy just flying.  What is the purpose of having a beta team before the release of an update, such as #9.  I never saw any game or simulator with so many updates.

I have been flying since the mid 90's and never had this issue.  I can  understand once in a while u need an update, but this is just getting out of control, every update itseems needs a patch, then why do u have a beta team ?

Sorry, folks, I am just venting out, and want to enjoy this fabulous, gorgeous sim.  Shortly willl \have PMDG in town, and now we have the Maddog, the BAE 146, the Fenix coming shortly  Please stop with all the updates! or try to cut them down a bit.

I agree and sympathise with you. I too have got really sick and tired of it all, I mean to the point of jacking it all in. My biggest gripe is the updates being mandatory. Every single time, without fail, there are issues. I'm rather stalled with having all these world updates and yet there are still so many aspects of the sim that need to be addressed. I haven't flown for about two months. I will persevere for a little longer, but if you see a load of kit for sale in the marketplace, then you will know who's selling up! Fingers crossed I will get the enthusiasm to continue.

On the one hand, I have no doubt that in Asobo's company, there are people full of enthusiasm who want the simulator to be excellent.
On the other hand, the people in charge of making the customer happy with their product are doing it wrong.
Open a simulator and one day it is smooth and the next day, without having touched anything, in the same destination, it is full of micropauses, or with a message of loss of internet connection, or with another "insert the disk in the unit", or with a crash to desktop, or without meteorology, or with a new update, or with an update bugfix, etc, etc, etc, makes me appreciate how important it is NOT TO BUY something until it is minimally presentable.

You can not do anything. Expect. Read forum...and we've been here for two years.
I am a client and a buyer and the simulator was created to ENTERTAIN and TRAIN not to be watching on youtube how to make it smoother or have more frames per second every day of the year.

This is a business that has us all more time in the forums than in the simulator.

I wish Asobo did it how LM does with P3D. Having updates that are not mandatory and that are only hotfixes upon updates. I for one don't care about anything being fixed other than the constant disconnection issues, its beyond a joke now and has been going on since release.
