I have also seen plenty of evidence of many real word videos that does the exact thing, dark cockkpits on sunny days. ...right, but in MSFS your "eyes" don't move, only your head. In real life I can face the window and switch between looking at instruments and runway without issue. In MSFS I am forced to tilt my head down, because the eye adaption mechanic makes me choose panel or runway, not both. Also, obviously, eyes don't have the same light adaptation problems as a camera lens but that's a different problem I won't even get into. Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory. The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire. To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune. There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you. It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

That’s kind of cool, had no idea that the sun visor actually does something other than being a gimmick Intel I7 12700KF / 32 GB Ram-3600mhz / Windows 11 - 64 bit / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060TI / 32" Acer Monitor, Honeycomb alpha/bravo, CH rudder pedals, Tobii 5, Buttkicker, Logitech radio panel.

The reason is, light should scatter around while hitting objects resulting in making the overall area brighter. (i.e. ray tracing and it's family) The only lighting engine that can handle this well is the new UE5 Lumen. But this kind of tech, I suspect will take some more time to be introduced as flight simulation don't tend to use the most recent tech due to obvious reasons (much much larger scenes). For now the solution is using some sort of post process effects but those may result in wrong lighting in other situations, so you can make your cockpit brighter at this situation but then you may have too bright nights. May 28, 20224 yr Yeah it's certainly a divisive feature. Like many new innovative features, I tend to think the core idea is good, but that the effect has been overdone / exaggerated. It's more evident (worse) for TrackIR users too. Sitting in the cockpit with TrackIR, a small head movement on the pitch axis of my head, results in two highly contrasting forward views; screaming, nuclear sunlight outside and a very dark panel, followed by (nods head down a half inch) dark view outside and nicely lit panel. I would certainly turn it off, given the option, but my preference would be that Asobo simply tone it down quite a bit. May 28, 20224 yr My solution is just to pop out the vital screens and put them on lower monitor. This completely solves the problem. And it gives instrument views even while using outside views. May 28, 20224 yr just gonna throw this out there - with a proper HDR display (most PC monitors don't fit that bill yet, unfortunately, though some certainly do) and HDR10 enabled, this looks so much better because you can still see the details in the cockpit or out the windows because the display has enough dynamic range to maintain contrast.
May 28, 20224 yr It's not the fact this feature exists, it's more that it's too extreme. When I briefly peek down at some instruments for a few seconds and look back up out the window my eyes will still be used to the bright environment. In MSFS I can't see much other than bright white for a few seconds.
October 7, 20223 yr I still have a hard time with the Fenix in SU10 . My VC is way to dark and using the domelights nearly have zero effects. The visor on both sides doesnt do much on my end here. Any suggestions ? The other aircrafts like the PMDG is also on the dark side but not as much as the Fenix. Thanks Michael Moe Michael Moe

If you go into your UserCfg file, change the ColorGrading option to 0. I have found the sim looks much better and it greatly reduces the eye adaptation effect and dark VC's.. I just went back to this setting and the Fenix looks much better... Eric i9-12900k, RTX 5070ti OC, 32GB ddr5 5600 RAM, 2TB 980 Pro SSD, Titan 240RX AIO, Samsung CRG90 49", Win 11
