Also waiting on that one...

I honestly haven't seen any difference using it in V5.4 to not using it at all.

About ORBX Larry_R (Developer) describes the procedure to follow.

Richard.

Thanks, Richard.

In my case I found a difference because in C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5\ add-ons.cfg was empty.

All Orbx files were on :

C:\User\Name\AppData\Roaming\Lochkeed Martin\Prepar3D v5\add-ons.cfg.

After copying this add-ons.cfg to :

C:\User\Name\AppData\Roaming\Lochkeed Martin\Prepar3D v6 I started P3D V6

and I verified that the FTX Global Base textures worked the same way in P3D V5 as the Orbx scenarios of

YMML-KBOS-KSAN-ESSA-EFHK-LIEO-LYBE-LEBB.

So far I have encountered two problems:

in LOWI where compared to P3D v5 there is an artifact between the apt buildings and the river where there is a mound with a helicopter pad on it.

Another problem I encountered at KJAC where as you exit the scenario to go to Options, P3D v6 does not respond and then goes to CTD.

The W11 error view only reports that P3D v6 has gone to Hang.

I also verified that P3D v6 copied all add-ons.cfg content of C:\User\Name\AppData\Roaming\Lochkeed Martin\Prepar3D v6
in C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v6\ add-ons.

Obviously they were quick and not thorough tests, but I found that positively with P3D v6 there is a better display, for the Orbx scenarios, of light, of the textures of the apt buildings. and

anti-aliasing compared to P3D v5 while negative in general but especially to EFHK, a presence of stutters greater than those found on P3D v5 but which should be a problem of P3D v6.

PSXTraffic, with 9596 AIG, FSLTL & FSTraffic liveries, works well with Prepar3D v6!

Is this the default EFHK or the MKStudios EFHK? In the FAQ section of their website they say this about the stutters at EFHK. (this is for P3D v5+)

"I’ve been trying to track this issue for quite a bit of time. What seems to be a problem is stock EFHK content.

You may try to move the files away (make a backup!).

X:\Prepar3D\Scenery\0601\scenery

APX54100.bgl
OBX54100.bgl
cvx5410.bgl
 (if using Orbx Vector)

The alternative is to download our modified file – cvx5410.bgl and replace it.

Look at the OBX54100 which has a lot of stock scenery objects placed all around. Each of them takes a draw call or more."

Thank you Joseph,

the fix solved the stutters at EFHK.

So far, I’ve got Orbx base, Open LC & some of True Earth installed.  Also got PMDG 737 NGXu installed.  Controls via FSUIPC (v6 ready).  Scenery sorting / managing with Lorby AO.   Test flight KRSW - KATL - no problems.

When installing Orbx (non object flow) things, I recommend you use Central (after you tweak your registry) & do a proper install, vs simply asking Lorby to link via XML (quicker but can create visual problems in terrain).

Today I’m installing the 777, 747, and (behold) Majestic Q.  Then I’ll get cocky & try CP…

BIG shout out to those brave devs who took the time to continue our journey with v6 support on day 1:  (Oliver) Lorby, Dowson’s, & Majestic.  AWESOME… Also the experts here on this forum who reminded me of that registry tweak.

I do fly a lot in VR and I have to say it’s performance so far is fantastic. Pardon my enthusiasm but I am migrating from 4.5.  No more ‘single pass’ AND all tone, brightness & saturation controls work…That is something LM have brought to the table that the other sims don’t have….bravo.

I had forgotten how satisfying it can be to tweak (and have the freedom to experiment with) the sim.  Reading other forums / groups around the ‘net, I feel like I’m one of a small group of P3D die hards.  Well, so be it.

I will refer you to this why developers are making changes. Hopefully you may rethink

More to do with the point what he was saying about Chaseplane. My fault not quoting the correct piece.

I see you changed your post, good move since the original wording was pretty poor taste...

For those that wonder - the original wording is quoted  in one of the posts above 😉

Installed REX Skyforce 3d back on my PC, and found it works ok in p3dv6, you just have to point it (browse) to the v6 folder in the settings > General Settings window. 😊

This is great news for VR folks!

Thanks for the heads up!

Any addon with an XML should have no problem being dropped into the Documents folder and work as intended. If the Airport or Scenery has a simple Texture/Scenery file, it can live in the scenery library and work as intended, it just will look even better than it did before if you can live with that.
