You have to install (if not already), Navigraph FMS Data Manager, in addon mapping with the plus sign (+) add Active Sky P3D (New for v4/v5), you'll have a folder on the right side, click on it, and look for AS_FS installation folder (mine as default is: C, Program Files, HiFi, AS_FS) select that last folder, then go back to addon List, there you should now have Active Sky P3D (New for v4/v5), tick the little left box and then update it with the right buttons, think its the down arrow simbol.

I just bought ASFS. Really happy with it. Similar to the experience we had using FSX/P3D.

It would be great if some of those older features like wing fade and in-cloud motion effects can be brought in at some point!

Both of these truely fine developers have a place at the table here.  No question.  Free market competition breeds solutions and innovation. Both have responded not only now, but over a great stretch of sim history.  In previous simulators I had a great preference for attributes from each of these.  I highly valued the textures from REX SF.  Unequaled.  And I also highly valued the weather injection from AS16.  As a former weather professional both are of great importance for me.

The glory days of Active Sky for the weather injection and SkyForce 3D for the cloud textures in P3D were great.

It's such a shame that the clouds in MSFS are still so bad. I really wish there was something similar to SkyForce that could completely change the way the clouds are rendered. I really dislike the look of them.

I think I was hinting that boomers got their money very easily compared to the previous and following generations but look down on the following generations who are unlikely to ever experience the luxury of not needing or wanting (more) money.

Just purchased. Active sky has never disappointed me in the past!

And you don’t know, if any of these other companies would do anything better. It‘s my humble opinion, but I have never seen a better and more immersive weather depiction in any other simulator.  Of course, I  miss a functional weather radar. As I see it, a weather radar only makes sense, when flying into bad weather leads to consequences for your flight.

I feel like I've re-aquainted with an old friend, I picked up the tab for a couple of pints, $24.99  plus a 34% tip = $34.50 CDN. Not bad eh! 🍺

Agreed and both are excellent approachable developers with a passion for aviation

Steam MSFS with AutoFPS utility,

wasted 2 hours - but got it working by going to AppData/Roaming/HiFi/AS-FS/AddonFolder & then running 'ActiveSkyUtils',

this really should have been sorted out beforehand, IMO,

AS FS now works!

We've had 3 reports/confirmations of fix, related to certain AV blocking of that folder and its .exe files.  False positive.  In this case you must allow/exclude that folder.  This did not come up in beta.  Sorry for the issue, but out of our control.  We'll update our documentation and notes accordingly to make this easier to find and be aware of.

Is it possible to have Active Sky MSfS running on a networked pc or does the app have to be installed on the same computer as MSFS?

I know, this is a stupid question to ask of a weather program, but has anyone tried if the visibility works correctly?
The visibility with the default live weather is always half of that of the METAR and it has ruined many non-precision approaches for me.
If this is fixed in Active Sky, then this alone would be a reason for me to get it.

For the client app, not at this time, but we plan to add that soon.  But you can run the web companion app on any device on the network (through browser).
