Xplane 12.10 beta 1 released

Featured Replies

Overall I am enjoying 12.1.0-b4.

Tested weather, standalone, and it was pretty much consistent.

Turbulence I haven't yet came across situations with more extreme manifestations.

I was willing to try variable wind, and how much it impacts even on heavier aircraft because until now, even with slight wind absolute values, if one set shear the aircraft would dance like crazy... Tested it on an approach with the default B738 and it felt rather acceptable !

I love the lighting and colours in XP12, but I already did before 12.1.0b4...

ATC (default) is a feature I had big expectations in... Have to test it with this latest beta.

I wouldn't expect much from this TBH, it still doesn't work too realistically. SayIntentions could be worth a go when it comes out for X-Plane (despite the hefty price)

If it doesn't also model pebbles under the river bed, I'm not buying it.

I want tornados and rescue missions with the pebbles.

It's already available

Ah ok... still not for me though since there is no Mac OS version

AutoATC is win/lin/mac.

lot of dev scheduled for this year (little delayed because we expanded office space and employee numbers in early April and Ive had to put a lot of time on bringing them up to speed). V1 is about ready and will stay freeware for the plugin, V2 is in the concept phase, will be payware and also finally bring in iPhone support.

But please no static pebbles, shouldn't it be possible with the particle effects to have them rolling through the river?

My sceneries (excerpt): LPMA Madeira (XPFR), LGSR Santorini, LRBV Brasov, the city of Fürth (Germany), several libraries, ...

ATC has come a long way, still has bugs, most notably is that stupid, do not speak when channel is busy. It's ruining the whole experience,. Outside that has lots of improvements, like, at hold, "report when you are ready".

Yes, I really hope they will simulate those underwater-pebbles moving with the river-stream, otherwise it would really be disappointing in a modern flightsim 😅

Those pebbles missing would be worthy of a return for a refund.

Not necessarily. Granted, it's not on any bleeding edge visual level with grass merely being a shader trick, but FlightGear has been having this effect implemented for years now:

Speaking of: You may want to replace your fallback MaryTTS system with Piper (https://github.com/rhasspy/piper).

Doesn't require a Server running in the background and the voices are heaps better. I've already integrated it into XP using FlyWithLua. The downside is short stuttters when generating speech output, but that's due to FlyWithLua running in XP's main flightloop. A C++ plugin or your xtlua plugin calling Piper from an async thread may work better.

yes, that is what will make the iphone support finally possible, already proof of concepted.

that, moving everything to fmod and a proper point and click ui to come with V2 of the plugin, done a lot on all that already, but settled on the priorities for this year of bulking out the ground school in the phone app and making sure the AI supports everything it should everywhere flawlessly, very happy with where its got to, but there is still a lot of room for improvement. Then when the XP in sim store is ready, finally have a decent place to actually sell it.

744 ready as a great test bed for all the AI acars stuff

OrbX nearly has a full set of UK scenery

laminar nearly done demolishing the last of the Xplane bugbears

my home cockpit ready

The stars are aligning, happy days.

Ten years ago....

....although I don't think it's a matter of processing power so much as how and where do you deploy programming resources?

Another thing that could add immersion is to have grass/vegetation effects blowing under the helicopter as well, this would look great but also provide a somewhat more visual cue when flying in 2D.

If you guys ever feel tempted to visit the dark side 😉, DCSW has exactly that (time stamped link). Also some good examples in the intro & outro:

VERY GLAD to see this come to X-Plane. Austin & Crew are jammin'!

Now, if we could just get Real World weather in DCSW... 😞

🙂 Don't knock it 'til you try it - especially when you're (literally) under the gun. MUCH fun! 🙂
