A miracle ? LSFG (Lossless Scaling Frame Generation)

Featured Replies

I tired another airport now and it is better there. But now my clickspots in the PMDG 737 are way off 😞

EDIT: I am pretty sure LSFG has an issue with the new EDDF airport available in ORBX....

Edit2: Yep, there is something strange with the EDDF scenery.

    I just upgraded my 3080ti to a 40 series for $6.99 lol.

  • Ok @David Roch I really thought this was going to be the latest "double your FPS" scam out there but I am literally in disbelief.  Thank you for bringing this to my attention.  I decided to give it

  • A little offtopic here but this software works wonders in xplane 12 too. From 40fps to 100fps with all settings maxed out at 4k. It's pure magic. I am speechless honestly.

I followed your advice and removed RivaTuner and AutoFPS.

I have followed several tips that I have seen on the internet, such as limiting the FPS in the Nvidea Control Panel to the monitor frequency (144Hz / 144 FPS), also limiting the FPS for the MSFS App in the same Nvidea Control Panel to half the frequency (144Hz / 72 FPS), enable vSync for the LSFG App in Nvidea Control Panel, in MSFS play with DLSS, TAA, etc. But I don't see any changes and in some situations I see more of a stuttering. My system really works well without LSFG, but with limitations in traffic and some ULTRAs, that's why I want to be able to do the magic that you have achieved with LSFG.

Sorry to hear that - but great that you're getting good performance from your kit already

I found that if I just move the mouse (pointer) well off the edge of the sim screen onto what must be the other screen space and then just click anywhere, the original mouse pointer just reappears as normal on my second screen and works as normal.

Thanks I will test this out.

Clickspots are also messed up by "lens correction" in the graphics settings, make sure that setting is off.

Will check. But should be off as it worked before.

WHo said I didn't do any testing? I tried with DLSS off/on, G-Sync on/off, HDR on/off. Tried the several options in LS.

FPS Limited in Nvidia App to 120 as I run a 120 Hz OLED.

EDIT: FG is off in the Screenshot as it was my last test. With FG off I get ~5FPS less than without LS. When I switch on FG all hell breaks loose.

Perhaps it is the multi display... Are you running triple displays?  These are important system specs to include if people are going to help.   Also, you shouldn't need to limit any FPS in Nvidia, especially to 120, if you are using x2 then you should limit FPS to 60 so you get 60/120.   I leave mine to fixed refresh and do not limit any frames in NVCP.   I usually see 75/120 in Lossless.

I have scaling off, VSync On, Allow Tearing on, HDR off, and clip cursor is on but not sure what that one does....  FG is set to X2 but if you are fixing your frames to 120 and then asking for X2 or X3 you are expecting 240-360 FPS....

You also don't state what your system specs are, are you using any other mods, autoFPS for example?

Personally, I would remove the 120 FPS cap in Nvidia, set it to fixed refresh and leave it.  Leave G-Sync off, remove the scaling in Lossless, are you also doing scaling in NVCP?

FG needs to be on x2 or x3 or this is no point to lossless...

there is a way to use this but in windowed mode because when i use the Sofware with MSFS in windowed mode the MSFS window turn to full screen so is hard to switch to other programs like ATC or Little Navmap, i tried also windowed mode turn on in lossless scaling settings but didn't do anything. any idea if is possible?

It’s working for me now. But I will, for the love of god, not run MSFS with unlimited FPS. This produces like 300 FPS in menues and my GPU goes full speed.

!.  I am glad it is working now first of all, good to hear.  I wasn't trying to be rude or difficult but the more detail you give the more likely people can help, apologies if it came across as rude.  Your first post was like walking into a mechanic and just saying, this sucks it's broken and dropping the keys on their desk.   Not a lot they can do with that LOL...

2.  What actually fixed it?

3.  I will post my settings later of how I am limiting to my monitors refresh rate which is 120hz so 120 FPS but I don't remember my V-Sync settings off the top of my head.  I did disable G-Sync on my G-Sync compatible monitor and set it to fixed refresh in NVCP when I started using Lossless though.  I don't "cap" my FPS though which is probably why I see 75/120 in my lossless FPS counter, not 40/120 or 60/120

I am also experimenting because I think there is a stutter when the FPS are not even fractions like 40/120 60/120 etc...

Worth noting here that this programme also works with older cards 🙂 - my ageing system is an i7700-k with GTX1080ti and Lossless has not only doubled the frame rate, but has also allowed a much better TLOD (to 150 from 70 or less I think it was) and 100 OLOD (from 70 or so). Also been able to increase the number of planes in FSLT.  Resolution is 3440x1440.

Yeah my frames don't drop then mine is currently showing 40/80. Smooth as butter however out of the blue when panning left and right it would not be smooth anymore. I don't know what's going on, then it'll smooth out eventually again. But the frames never change. I do have other items on my other monitor like navograph. So I don't know if my other monitor is causing issues with my main screen even though I'm not moving the mouse to the other monitor and keeping it on the main screen.

This app is a godsend to me and others with mid range systems that cannot normally run large sceneries or numerous AI traffic settings. But the key here is to still set your goals reasonably. For me it works better in DX11 and with it I don't need DLSS or Nvidia frame generation offered by DX12 because Lossless Scaling does so much better. I will give an example:

Say you can achieve a STEADY 30 fps with the sim set to vsync for a monitor with a typical 60HZ refresh rate. This will be a very common scenario. Set the app so it is 2x NOT 3sx. If your vsync image can comfortably achieve 30 fps (half monitor refresh rate), then the app will ALWAYS achieve a steady and exact 60 fps (look at the white text top left of your screen).

If you push things too far and even for a moment your "real" fps dips below 30 and the app shows momentarily say 56-58, this is where you'll get micro stutters and other phenomenon. So you need to scale things back to achieve COMFORTABLY a half refresh rate fps of 30. In these conditions the interpolated frame rate of the app will stay at an exact and steady 60 fps and things will be buttery smooth.

I think some are seeing tearing and stutters because they are pushing things too far. For me this is so much better than using DSLL with its image ghosting and other anomolies. Also the panning is extremely smooth.

So this is in my opinion (for a change) not snake oil or wishful thinking. IT WORKS! Try experimenting with WGC rather than DXGI in the "capture API" box. It might be more consistent. Leave almost everything else as default in the app's settings.

David, Thank you so much for this. My old 10900 and 3080 is starting to show its age. The Fenix at EGLL with FSLTL gives me 28-32 FPS now I have 84-88 FPS using x3. That's a game changer for me as I can now use TrackIR with MSFS2020 without thinking about it.

It cost me £5.83 Just a little cheaper than a new PC or a 4080-4090 LOL.

Thank you so very much.

On a side note DCS that I use 90% of the time has gone from 100 FPS to my screen max refresh 240 FPS.

The Best £5.83 I've even spent.

I did take screenshots but ShareX does not show any FPS counters sadly.

Very grateful to you.

Yes. In 2024 we fly with 240 FPS, not 30 or 60 FPS ! LOL !

Edit: Earlier I flew with 60/180, now I fly with 80/240 and its fast. LOL !
