I was hugely impressed with the performance gain by using this Steam application. It costs around €6. There’s no airport in the world now where I can’t enjoy a much improved performance even using aircraft like PMDG 737 / 777 and FS Labs Concorde.

I haven’t seen much discussion about it here other than @Rogen’s topic. So I’m curious about how many of you have tried it.

@Ianrivaldosmith has published a guide to getting the best possible performance from the LS application. I was getting frustrated with stutters but those have been eliminated after using his tips.

I think the performance depends greatly on what system you have.

I get 60FPS at most non ultra complex airports, which smooths the traffic quite a bit. (60 native /2 on RTSS /2 =15 x 4 Lossless).

At large airports, the benefits are smaller and FPS can drop considerably.

In the air, it is really superfluous, as it does nothing to improve the huge drops I get when approaching areas where scenery needs to be loaded. (Approach to EGLL drops to 7 or 8 then recovers to around  20/25).

Overall, I would say it is a success for me.

Intel i7 6700K @4.3. 32gb Gskill 3200 RAM. Z170x Gigabyte m/b. 28" LG HD monitor. Win 10 Home. 500g Samsung 960 as Windows home. 1 Gb Mushkin SSD for P3D. GTX 1080 8gb.

Well, I was one of the earliest adopters. Actually, I'm sure I was the first one to report about it here, but I used Hangar Chat instead of the MSFS or P3D forums and thus, I got few replies. This utility is a godsend. With that, and my 5700X3D, I set almost all my P3D and FSX sliders to the right. I still have to tune up my sim a bit, so that I can approach LVFR KMIA runway 9 in the FSL A320 while keeping all the beauty, the AI (60% AIG) and 30 native FPS.

I have a 120 Hz monitor for my main rig. While I saw the advantages of locking sim at just 20 FPS and then apply 3xFG, I feel my planes handle better when using 30 FPS native and applying either 2xFG or 4xFG. On the other hand, my laptop has a 60Hz display, and well, FSX has been never that smooth (20 FPS + 3xFG).

Artifacts? Well, apart from alt-tabbing, the biggest ones I get are while opening/closing 2D windows. No big deal.

What native framerate do you all use?

20 for me with a x3 multiplier. Set in RTSS.

I'd be option 5: Heard of it, not tried it.

SO far despite pushing p3d I'm still stuck at 60fps everywhere, even 100 ai and all but complex airports where I might drop to 30 minimum.

FSX now almost maxed out and lowest I've had is PMDG MD-11 Orbx YBCS last night 45fps.  I used to be content at 30 with fsx on my old machine so I'm still up so far.

It's an app I may well get once I've pushed my sims too far, but that has not happened just yet.

Further more it does not work with ViewGroups.

I don't have P3D but for FSX its the best thing since sliced bread and has totally gotten me to play tons of FSX again. This program literally takes my 6fps and turns it into a very playable 24fps.

I don't use P3D anymore since the release of MSFS2020, but I can say Lossless Scaling substantially improved MSFS fps in a lot of different flight scenarios.

Sorry for being out of topic, but this utility is useful for every game you play, not only the simulators.

Cheers, Ed

Yes LS does do resolution scaling which is handy on older games with limited screen size choice, however it is the Frame Generation on practically all GFX hardware that's the real game changer.

Nothing like flying @ 60 fps reliably in almost all situations.

When I first started using LS a few months ago I used 30fps (using the Nvidia frame limiter) x2.  But when x3 became available in the LS settings I went to 19fps locked with RTSS... very happy with this combo.

I fly in a Home cockpit, I use two video projectors set by Nvidia surround and Fly elise-NG for three views on 180°.
When I activate Steam Lossless Scaling, nothing happens if I set to 20 frames per second, it stays at 20 frames per second whether by RTSS or using the Nvidia frame limiter.
I do not use ViewGroups.
