About an hour flight time in a real C172. Ouch.

When I got my PPL in 1978, I used to rent a five year old  C 172 that was on lease back, wet for $29 an hour. Those days are long gone.

  • Divide this by the amount of hours you spent in MSFS2020 as comparison and tell me, if the per-hour price is still "ouch". I bet even a single beer on a Friday evening is massively more "ouch" when co

  • What's the point of preordering? Is the price going to be different on release day?

Looking at the Steelbook edition but it's not clear who the "select retailers" are. The link above seems to go to the premium delux without the lanyard, etc. Any guidance?

I just purchased the Aviator's Edition.

For as many hours in a week as I spend flying this sim, the price is quite reasonable.

I had a place where I could get a 150 for $75 in a high cost of living area until recently.  The county basically shut them down to protect the bigger more expensive schools and now my next option is easily double.  Oh well I don't fly much these days anyway.

In 1978 I soloed on a brand new C 152 with 13 hours on the hobbs, that had just been flown in from Witchita, for $19 an hour wet. It had that new airplane smell.

I learn to fly in Archer II 60$ in hour + $20 CFI fee which at the time I thought was supe expensive. Now at the same airport 172 70th-80th built (160hp) goes 140-150 in hour (wet) and CFI fee $65-80 (and sometimes even more)

Man... they really aren't giving up on punishing people who didn't buy Premium Deluxe the first time around.

Exorbitant upgrade fee more expensive than buying again on sale, never discounted, and now, if you want the MSFS2020 Premium Deluxe aircraft in 2024, that will be $70 please.

It's annoying.

I think that's what the Collector's Edition gets you.  Aviators gets you some additional aircraft over the Deluxe, but the same airports.  Don't know what those planes are.

It is but my kids are buying it for me for Christmas…they just don’t know that yet. Or that Christmas for Dad will be a month early either. I can live without the steel underpants edition…

Yes I think you are right. This what MSFS site gives when you press "PreOrder"
