  • Divide this by the amount of hours you spent in MSFS2020 as comparison and tell me, if the per-hour price is still "ouch". I bet even a single beer on a Friday evening is massively more "ouch" when co

  • When I got my PPL in 1978, I used to rent a five year old  C 172 that was on lease back, wet for $29 an hour. Those days are long gone.

  • What's the point of preordering? Is the price going to be different on release day?

I think that's what the Collector's Edition gets you.  Aviators gets you some additional aircraft over the Deluxe, but the same airports.  Don't know what those planes are.

Scott

Actually, you are correct!

Aviators is $199 Collectors is $259 and comes with everything above

Just ordered the Collectors Edition, €322 in total at Aerosoft 🥴 I'm single though, so I didn't have to ask for permission off anybody first!

I am most likely going to stick with the base pack. Frankly, all the planes I really am looking forward to are in that version. There was a period when I regretted not getting the Premium Deluxe version, but a lot of paid content resolved that gap. I bought the INI EGLL for instance. That will work in 24. I did miss the 787 for some longhaul, but the T7 fits that. Plus, the base pack has the a330-200 which US Airways had.

For those that find value in the bigger packs, that is awesome for you.

Ideal spec, 64GB of RAM... Interesting.

Aviator edition contains "the 30 payware releases from Microsoft (e.g. Local Legends, Famous Flyers)"
As I've got just about all of those I want, and they're mostly half-baked at best and cracked at worst...maybe not...

$259 for the Collectors edition is ouch for me. I'll take a look tonight to the Marketplace to see if the Aviators edition ($200) is worth for me, instead of the Premium Deluxe ($130). I need to justify that $70 difference.

It becomes double-ouch when that edition is exclusively available through Aerosoft and at checkout you see its another $40ish to ship to the USA.  $259 becomes almost $300.

Looking at the Steelbook edition but it's not clear who the "select retailers" are. The link above seems to go to the premium delux without the lanyard, etc. Any guidance?

Aerosoft only at this point it appears, and steep shipping cost added for shipment to USA.

I wouldn't buy anything today that involved it being on CD's.

In case someone else here is a former/current Microsoft employee, don't forget that MSFS 2024 will be on the corporate store and it's usually 50% off whatever the retail price is.

Obviously not relevant for most people, but last time I forgot all about this and bought the retail version cause I was excited 🙂

It's not on the store yet, but should show up around launch day. You will likely miss out on the pre-order plane offer, but hey, 50% off is a lot!

I’ll need to see lists of which each version includes before deciding of course, but if the Aviator’s Edition has some decent stuff in it I don’t mind spending the money.

Its a drop in the bucket compared to what I’ve spent on payware for MSFS2020.

Hopefully the full lists are published soon (or I can find them if already published), although I suppose I have until the 26th as it’s Steam all the way for me.

I am searching and cannot find list of enhanced airports or a list of those 30 addon payware aircraft.  Anyone find those lists?

This post had this to say about the airports: "There are no new hand-crafted airports in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, and the explanation is pretty simple: Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 already had a massive quantity of them thanks to the free world and city updates."

I am reading that as the airport list for bespoke is the same as 2020, but the airports themselves received an update.
