It would be interesting to test DX11 vs DX12 when the new sim arrives to see what happens without pagefile and how close to 64GB it gets as it's presently known to exceed 32GB now in some scenarios. October 6, 20241 yr You will not be able to test MSFS 2024 in DX11 mode. EDIT: I should have read all of the messages first!! Are you thinking whatever is on the QVL list today reflects tested modules w/ the latest BIOS? I think I'll just try booting first, simple enough, and if unable to boot do the BIOS update. The thing is with this MSI B650 board it's known to take FOREVER to boot the first time or two as it's deciding if it can get along well w/ the DIMMS installed. So have to boot and then come back a half hour later...or more! Never had that w/ Intel boards. But, it's been rock stable w/ the 2x16Gb DIMMS installed now and the ones I just bought are of the same brand at least and are on the QVL for this board specific model so hopefully it will go well. AM5 runs memory training when you change the Bios or make hardware changes, it will take a couple of minutes for me, my computer also does memory training sporadically, like once a month, but then they goes much faster, about 20 seconds, I have not updated the Bios on long so I think it might be a good idea to do it before I replace the RAM. October 6, 20241 yr I replaced my 32GB RAM (2 x 16) with 64GB (2 x 32). The sticks are exactly the same brand and timings as what I had before, and installed in the same slots. It definitely does appear to make a difference in MSFS 2020. I have several pre-defined flight deck camera views. Previously, after completing a long flight, especially in a complex aircraft like the PMDG 777 or Fenix A320, if I cycled internal or external views after landing, there was often a noticeable stutter as the view changed. I just completed a 4.5-hour flight from CLT to SAN in the Fenix A321, and there was no stutter whatsoever. October 7, 20241 yr QVL lists can be annoying sometimes…the 2x16gb sticks of RAM I have are on the list for my motherboard, but the 2x32gb ones are not. How big of a deal is that? How big of a deal is that? Not that big of a deal. Just a guarantee that a specific set has been tested but I find it rare for non-QVL sets to not work, unless it's a set that is pushing some boundaries in terms of speed or timings. The ones I recently got weren't listed either for my motherboard but worked beautifully. Then again, it's an A-die Hynix set, with timings very similar to a lot of QVL sets that are also just A-die hynix sets. October 7, 20241 yr Perfect, thanks. I’m thinking since I’m already using the same RAM in a different size it’s probably a minimal risk then. October 8, 20241 yr I have now upgraded my computer to 64GB, the only difference I noticed was that my 7800X3D run a few degrees cooler and more stable in temp. I had no high temp peaks on my test flight like I use to have, but if it is due to the new Dimms or that I at the same time updated to the latest BIOS and AMD's drivers for the CPU, I don't know. To summarize all of them: You have no advantage whatsoever when using 64GB instead of 32 in all operating systems software games and simulators that exist, but if you are a YouTube content creator using sophisticated video editing and video cutting tools you might need 64GB. 🙂 But VRAM in graphics cards is very important, try to get 16-24GB when using sims.

My purchase got delayed during shipping. Have you noticed a significant difference in any kind of stuttering that you believe you can probably contribute to the 64Gb? That would be something I could get behind but outside of that, doubtful I will keep it as I can't see doing that 'just because'. October 9, 20241 yr I also upgraded to 64GB last weekend and first impressions are as expected: the same 🤣 But my issue is anyway the fact that those 16GB VRAM of my 4080 are the limiting factor since switching to 4K...
