Well, we are seeing some live streamers stream the iFly 737 Max today. Coupled with that, this is what Randazzo said about the PMDG 737 Max:

Quote

You may see us make reference to our Enterprise Division in a few places during the coming months and years. This is a new aspect of PMDG's growth that has us working with a large, commercial aircraft manufacturer on an enterprise level project that is a high priority for them and for all of us at PMDG. It has caused us to de-prioritize the retail release of our 737MAX for the time being, as our contract requires that we maintain a clear firewall between our retail product options and the work we are doing on the enterprise-side. Since we are not an enormous corporation, this means that the same developers who are currently supporting the enterprise effort are in-part a portion of the development team responsible for our MAX iteration- and that makes it hard for us to document a clear firewall between the two products.

Congratulations to iFly, I hope they make a lot of money with the 737 Max when they release it for MSFS.

Just watching XP72 stream on youtube, and whilst not a massive fan of the 737. I have to say from what i've seen, the Ifly looks really really good, looks way ahead of PMDG products. It amazes me how other developers have caught up to and surpassed PMDG in terms of quality, years ago they were the gold standard. Now I think they are falling behind, all they seem to do is make excuses for delays etc in their forums.

Yup.  Competition is great. The thing that will make MSFS 2024 a huge success is the number of 3rd party developers that will develop add-ons for it, and sometimes they may compete for the same space. Already in MSFS 2020, many 3rd party scenery developers are making multiple versions of the same airport.  Consumers can choose which one is the best, and it's a win for the consumers at the end of the day.  The best part of MSFS is that the market is so big, you can have multiple 3rd party developers competing against each other, and they may still make a profit at the end of the day. This is a perk of MSFS users using the flight simulator with the biggest market share. Even among the "hard core" flight simmers, MSFS has the biggest market share, as the Navigraph survey demonstrated (if you consider Navigraph survey users being representative of the "hard core" flight simmer segment).

I really look forward to increased competition with 3rd party developers in MSFS 2024, let users decide what the best product is 👍.

It appears to be quite in depth.  I noticed working circuit breakers / failures as well in that stream.

The PMDG 737 MAX is unofficially dead at least in its current version if it ever really existed.  It might be reborn several years from now when PMDG decides to reboot the 737 line again.

Hopefully iFly decides to make the other MAX variants.  The latest news from PMDG certainly gives them the green light to do so!

Yeah I was gonna ask if theyve said anything about the other variants?

As for iFly it's just 8 as far as I heard.  Hopefully that changes and I think it will sell much better now that PMDG is out of the way.  More variants mean more revenue for iFly!

I am personally hoping iFly does the 9 as well.  The 7 and the 10 can wait since they are not actually in operation yet.

As for PMDG I don't know if they ever officially said they were making all variants but it was often assumed in many threads and they never denied it.

Long term I hope iFly brings the NG in MSFS as well.  I had it for FSX and I thought it was very comparable to the PMDG product.  Also they had a fool utility and you could add or remove the brow windows or winglets plus many other options.  Also had the ability to select different engine thrust options!

All the streams I have watched today have been nothing but positive for the iFly Max. Everything from immersion, handling, systems, sounds etc have been positive. Some even said they would choose it over the current PMDG 737. It is great to see another developer getting ready to release a top notch product out the gate.

I’ve said this a few times previously, but the ifly max in P3d is an amazing plane and is superior to the ngxu.  But of course it is several years newer than the ngxu.

I am not a tester nor have do I have experience with the max in msfs, but based on my experience with their P3d version of the ifly max, I think you will all be very impressed with the level of modeling, system fidelity, and sounds.  iFly has grown into a top tier developer.

As mentioned, Pmdg is a legacy converter Dev.  They do not have skills to make the highest quality, modern and advanced addons that are on par with the likes of: Fenix, IFly, Black Square etc.

So is iFly by that standard.  This isn't their first entry into the FS world...   They have a proven track record of producing high quality in depth products for 10+ years AND  have had 2 1/2 additional years to work on their initial MSFS release since PMDG released theirs so I am quite grateful for their lack of skills and the sub par 737 and 777 I would have waited until late 2024 to get my iFly version and I don't see a competing 777 so thank goodness for their legacy converter development which by the way they adapted to marketplace and figured out how to work within the framework of XBox and a broader audience.

But hey, it wouldn't be a good Avsim thread without bashing them LOL

Edit, back to iFly, as long as this has HW support like PMDG does it will be a day 1 purchase, loved their planes in P3D

Personally, I'd rather see their 744 before any further 73X's.
