The sounds have been a big disappoint to most.  Yes some have defended them.  But when they have a reputation of bad sounds on the 777 and then it's found they used pumps from the 737.  Well that's different than recycling other types of code.

I would have thought some dev would have taken advantage of this in MSFS, as the addon sounds you can get in XP far exceed anything we have. And it's one area i hope improves in the new sim, even if it means someone does them as payware. The Toliss A320 family with the BSS sound pack, is just as if your really in the aircraft, everything, and i mean everyting can be heard as it would be.

I have no dog in this hunt. I have just about EVERY tube-liner made for MSFS and then some!  (P3d, FSX, PMDG, FSL, Leonardo, Majestic, etc) and I will buy the iFly day one because that is my hobby (plane/scenery collection).  So as I say I’m pretty neutral here and I most certainly have made a snark or three at PMDG over the decades, but…

Honestly guys, the level of obsessive PMDG bashing around these parts has reached epic proportions and is borderline being classified as a mental illness 😇.  None of the developers I named make perfect  planes, but conversely none make grossly imperfect or silly planes like another heavenly producer who will reman nameless.  So let’s just give the PMDG bashfests a rest for awhile. It makes for a very boring and repetitive experience here

PMDG's problem is not really their planes, as you rightly say there is no perfect developer, the problem is the way they treat their customers, little is what they are told for what they deserve.

They make good planes to a degree its more the fact staff on the forum rather not admit they got it wrong, blame others and are just don't seem to care when you pick up on things and mention it again blame the customers instead.... Let alone questioned on experience being a pilot you should know these problems but apparently don't bother saying anything let someone else pick up on these bugs just to feel like a tit which then falls back in that persons face when the truth is told.

Certainly looks impressive to me! Of course there will be the inevitable comparisons with PMDG, but I think it's fair to say that there is evidence of real innovation here. Competition is a good thing and well overdue in the Boeing space.

Friend, I understand your point about their staff and forum edicts. I have been quite vocal opponent of their insistence of the use PII in the forums.  That’s why I avoid their forum at all costs.  So have I complained about PMDG? Sure.  But my point is once you’ve complained with voice, just complain with wallets next time.  You will get more action doing that than perpetual rants at Avsim  (not judging you as a ranter but they do exist)

Easier said than done. It is best to be vocal since so many new people don't know the story if you like. Plus we really don't have any other products to fall back on regarding the Boeing line up. Unless another developer would be willing to do it.

I get it, some people don't like PMDG or their customer service, that's fine.

What I don't get is I dislike the head of a particular EV company.  I don't buy their cars which is my personal choice but I also don't have to run around telling everyone on the car forums how much I dislike the head of said company and how I will never buy their products or endlessly remind people I dislike him or his company every time he or his companies name is mentioned...

I did buy their solar though 😂

Amen !!!

No problem with the stating of grievances .. Of course this is an open forum and differing opinions are appreciated but a person who complains about the very same thing in almost every PMDG thread starts to lose the potency of their complaint. Yes the facts of the complaint may be true.. but we have seen it from the same person before .. multiple times.. whats the point ? Speak with your wallet or recognize that the dev and your expectations are not a good fit and move on.

Here is the latest announcement from the Flight1 Discord channel.

Flight1 — Today at 4:23 PM
Regarding the release date: There are too many (and creative) speculations regarding taxiway signs, and any other signals regarding the release date. Here is what is going on. They have been working overtime on overtime on this. They want it right! As mentioned in other posts, once all the pieces (parts, assemblies) come together and fit reasonably well, we will release it. To set a release date would put undue stress on those already stressed! I would say that is all of us  . We do not want that. However, we would not have released it to early adopters such as content creators if the release was not soon. But do not read soon as eminent... but it could be. We do not know for sure. We are getting those assemblies in every day. So do stay tuned, and check up here instead of making speculations on dates. I assure you we want it out more than you do! Thanks.

What impressed me the most were the neat, outright over the top embelishments of functions in the IFly's cabin. Opening storage bins for the luggage, functioning window shades, retractable tray tables, even a lavatory that is fully modeled (although not flushing so I refuse to buy! 😉 ).

Not that any of this is needed and I would rather that all flightdeck functions are properly modeled and simulated first, before I spend even a single thought about the cabin.

But that it is possible, without tanking performance, with clickspots, animations and even environemental controls for the Flight Attendants, is really something.

Super impressive indeed!  The fact the cabin control panel is functional just shows they have tried to thoughtfully re-create the entire plane.

Based on their history in P3D I would expect the flightdeck functions are there too, I know others have mentioned them missing some in depth features but I personally don't remember them lacking in any way.

Very excited for this but as @micstatic said I REALLY hope I can program it with my overhead via Spad and that OI4FS can support it for the opencockpits modules.  I would hate for it to not have the same extent of HW support as PMDG, that is really the only thing I am "concerned" with as it is so tough for me to go back to planes that don't support all my HW 😞

I have been looking at some videos on YouTube about the iFly Max 8 and it surely is impressive.  The nice thing about it is if you like the PMDG NG Series airplanes this will be a natural fit.  Basically its like a 4K high definition version of the 737 NG Series we already know.  Even the FMS is about 80% similar.

My only hold back at the moment is the lack of commitment on the other variants and the release is so close to the release of FS2024.  More so the other variants as it will certainly be made FS2024 compatible but I am anticipating that my hands will be full for a short while dealing with FS2024 itself.  It's likely my purchase might be slightly delayed because of this.  If they announce other variants before release it will be a day one purchase since that is my only real reservation.

I do agree that supporting developers (especially those that do a good job) is important.  So I may still get it on those grounds if the forums really light up in excitement.  So far every indication says that they will!

Of course you should tell him because when he has problems with his new car he will surely be in for an unpleasant surprise.

I bought it sometime ago for P3d v5, and really enjoyed it together with the FSLabs buses...

This New 737 MAX is... SENSATIONAL! (youtube.com)
