November 20, 20241 yr Well last night I could not get in at all. 4 AM got right in played and things were quite good. Launched and quit the sim several times this morning, pretty quick launches no hangs. So this is good. One problem as I was messing around with settings, all of a sudden my mouse can no longer be used to pan zoom views in the cockpit. I must have messed up a camera setting or something. Getting my new computer set up tomorrow, this was my last session with my 7 year old setup, and it was behaving quite well. Even using 3 monitors and a fourth touchscreen for the popouts of Garmins. Better frame rates then 2020. 2020 still runs perfectly as well. And I will reinstall that on my new computer tomorrow as well. Fun fun fun. Other than what I expected to go wrong 2024 is quite amazing IMHO. My guess is it will take a year or so until everything works as well as it does now in 2020. Perhaps with all of the problems any new owners of the sim are now considered beta testers until a fix is released? I was just giving an example of common issues affecting multiple airports (ie grass on the runways, texture issues etc..). Surely testers would have seen it and hopefully reported the problems? Of course, it's a very different matter if Asobo did not acknowledge the issues. Yeah, we are the beta testers. I really think they started working backwards from Nov 19 and then fixed what they could. A lot of the obvious issues you are talking about just weren't high enough priority to get fixed before release. They will get to them at some point. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro

The majority of users had already posted to expect a bottleneck...for a reason! In 24 hours we went from being unable to load the sim to being able to load it within less than a minute for me. Once in I am enjoying a silky smooth flight in ultra settings with Starlink over wifi (I'm not even wired to the router). I was able to setup my controls and views and find myself now fully in business for future flights with no show stoppers. Yes a few wrinkles but based on the days where the sim was coded for future hardware and ultra settings were a slideshow, I feel like we've come a long way. So yes I used the word good, not great, not flawless, and not perfect. In a weeks time these past 24 hours will be a thing of the past. i9-13900K O/C | ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Hero | 32GB DDR5 6000MHz Kingston FURY | RTX 4090 24GB | 2x SSD M.2 (2TB Samsung 990 PRO) 1x SSD (4TB Samsung 870 EVO) | Windows 11 Home | H20: HydroLux PRO:HardLine Tubing| 1000w PSU | Starlink WiFi
November 20, 20241 yr I don't like the new camera system. Looks like when you are moving the camera around, suddenly it starts moving more and more quickly, making the camera uncontrollable. Has anyone found out a solution yet? I have the freelook momentum setting set down to 0.

Its ashame that the following post to this thread are more about nonsense of, still have 2020 etc, and not geared towards the OP. For the long load times, I've seen nothing but improvements. We all have to watch that trailer so thats a good gauge to see improvements in that area. Where yesterday I had to watch it several times before being able to get into the flight, I just did a flight and got it loaded by the time in the trailer that the hot air balloon was taking off. SO it will be interesting to see just how much quicker it will get once all the rush of downloads are over with. I am curious about this one Unable to turn off/disable ATC? As I plan on using PilotEdge and SayIntentions once they are compatible so will be interested in how to have that happen. Every single review out there is talking about the 2000+ negative reviews on Steam, the low MS Store score and how it is driven by a failed release. How is that better than anything? It's been a dumpster fire. Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
November 20, 20241 yr All this will change hugely over the next few days to a week or so....is my prediction. I've not installed it and won't until the dust starts clearing. My sense is the vast majority of all sorts of "issues" people report now are secondary to server overload and all the logic or lack thereof behind what to do when that happens. Yes, the launch has been a mess but the sim will work very well once massive demand on servers settles some mark these words. Running the sim will not be nearly as demanding as installing the sim and nowhere near all the people who are installing the sim currently over the next few days will operate the sim at the same time as everyone else. There was no good reason to invest in massive additional server capacity to cope with what's happening now. Give it at least a few days and more like a couple of weeks to settle out. However, this is a new sim and like all software we know they will continue to improve and fix these issues. Additionally, I did a flight yesterday in NZ and was completely amazed with the detail of the world, lighting, and even basic flight in 73M8. This will be an amazing platform once things starting getting ironed out. Thank you Asobo and MS for bringing us an amazing simulator! Agreed. You can go back to any FS version including P3D versions and the new release will always foment multiplied reactions. Because of the complexity of MSFS 2024, particularly it's cloud base, you can multiply the reactions a thousand fold. I have issues some of which I posted but make no mistake about it this platform is fantastic. The world of flight has never looked so good. So fatalistic assertions and going 'back to 2020' is par for course. We are on the cutting edge of a world immersion which vision includes developers creating self- contained games and apps to exploit the data. I for one will take the foibles and mis-steps for progress. Edited November 20, 20241 yr by lenny777 Ryzen 7 5800x, 64gb, 7900XTX 24gb

November 20, 20241 yr I just wonder if the bug is still present in FS2024 when runway and taxiway lights are missing when you've departed in daylight and arrive at night.

I’ve been home from work all day, it was running ok (in the Uk) from 9am when I launched it to about 15:00 when I briefly came off it. Since then it’s been like day 1 again - I’m assuming that’s due to the big European user base coming home from work. I dont know how many units have been sold but will to guess in the high hundreds of thousands. Point B is, who takes the time to time to give positive feedback in general? Consumers, as a general rule, seem quick to point of faults where praise either goes under rewarded, delayed until they feel others have already started a bandwagon to join or forgotten all together. So, I'm one review that in my experience the launch went good and the overall sim is highly enjoyable. Figured that would be the best time as most of the Americas would be in bed, and Europe wouldnt be as big a hit so basically only Oceania region would be at play.
