It's almost as if the 2024 team started developing the new sim at a point where these things were still bugs in 2020. And then failed to notice or fix the issues. That's quite astounding. This here lies the absolute damning proof that Asobo are amateurs. Every step forward they take, they in turn take 3 steps back. No one seems to talk to each other on that team— it’s a convoluted mess. Edited November 20, 20241 yr by UAL4life

I've not installed it and won't until the dust starts clearing. My sense is the vast majority of all sorts of "issues" people report now are secondary to server overload and all the logic or lack thereof behind what to do when that happens. Yes, the launch has been a mess but the sim will work very well once massive demand on servers settles some mark these words. Running the sim will not be nearly as demanding as installing the sim and nowhere near all the people who are installing the sim currently over the next few days will operate the sim at the same time as everyone else. There was no good reason to invest in massive additional server capacity to cope with what's happening now. Give it at least a few days and more like a couple of weeks to settle out. I can't remember when fixes were issued by Asobo, a few days after they were reported.
November 20, 20241 yr Mmm actually not completely unexpected with the msfs 2020 experience (awesome sim, but took some time). What makes me no so happy is the Microsobo bimonthly update schedule (sim updates) to solve bugs. They were never able or willing to launch smaller, more frequent patches for msfs 2020 to progress with some of the bugs at least. Let's see what they do here but from what I am reading, waiting for several months to fix some stability issues and key bugs could lead to big frustration.

Because of the complexity of MSFS 2024, particularly it's cloud base, you can multiply the reactions a thousand fold. I have issues some of which I posted but make no mistake about it this platform is fantastic. The world of flight has never looked so good. So fatalistic assertions and going 'back to 2020' is par for course. We are on the cutting edge of a world immersion which vision includes developers creating self- contained games and apps to exploit the data. I for one will take the foibles and mis-steps for progress. Yeah, if one can just overlook the truck load of bugs, I guess it is fine. 🤣
November 20, 20241 yr Commercial Member - I am suffering from the wandering camera view of doom. My cockpit camera doesn't stay still, it is shifting upwards, slowly but surely. And I cannot look around in the cockpit using the mouse? - Controllers in the sim cannot be fully unassigned. I am often using my hat switch for trim, but it doesn't seem to be possible to have a blank joystick profile? The "general" (view?) controls cannot be unassigned. LORBY-SI
November 20, 20241 yr After several attempts , I loaded in Manchester , England to find trees growing between the taxiway and runway. What next?
November 20, 20241 yr I'm surprised that people are surprised at this. I pre-bought with my eyes wide open. I absolutely knew launch day would be a dumpster fire, and I absolutely knew there would be significant bugs. It all happened this way when 2020 came out, which if I recall correctly, went from early alpha to a 3-day beta and then released. I bought that one knowing it'd be a mess for awhile too. I didn't prebuy because I thought I'd be flying a perfect sim on day one. I prebought because I wanted to invest in the future of MSFS. As much as 2020's launch was an unmitigated disaster, and as frustrating the first year or two was while we waited for major bugs to be fixed, and as annoying as it is that we're 4 years on and there are still light stanchions in the middle of taxiways, 2020 is also the best flight simulator ever made for home consumption and it singlehandedly sparked a renaissance in hardware and 3pd addons. I've never had a better time simming than I'm having right now in 2020. I'm not trying to excuse what they're doing. I think they're now in the habit of committing major unforced errors by releasing half-baked products. It doesn't really matter in the long run - all the people review bombing them on Steam and threatening to sue Asobo on the MSFS discord are going to be seen (accurately) as throwing a 5-year-old temper tantrum. But they can and should afford to release a more release-ready product just to avoid leaving any sort of bad taste in people's mouths. I'm fully confident that down the road, 2024 will be even better and in the meantime, I'll dabble in it when I feel like it, and use 2020 when I want to fly a more mature sim. It never goes beyond that..... How long did you wait? It is loading on that screen. Not very intuitive but it isn’t locked up.

How is that better than anything? It's been a dumpster fire. Honestly, would not surprise me in the least if higher ups at MS show Jorg the door over this. They can’t fire Seb at Asobo as they are a contract vendor and up to their necks in ties to them so much so they have to live with Asobo. Eric
