Ah, the early bird got wormed!  come back in a year when the basic bugs are worked out.

You mean like in MSFS2020 where the basic bugs still reside 4+ years on...?!

  • Well, this isn't going to take 5 minutes to fix-up is it?  I expect it could be well into next year.  I see people saying we need to be patient, and patience is a virtue.  Well, if wasting my life a

Hi,

Didn't realize this was going to be 100% streaming, I thought we were getting more on our end to reduce issues. Anyone know if Asobo giving out refunds?

So Jorg stated they were surprised and overwhelmed on day 1, well presumably they are surprised again on day 2.

that learning curve sure isn't doing much for them is it.

I am sure you can get a refund. Not sure how you ask for it, but given the state of things I doubt they will argue.

I mean .. i saw it coming but wanted to believe. I took part in the tech alpha and saw it for myself: Long load times, terrible looking things due to stuff not loading in, Terrible UI, Control profiles for the most popular sim products missing which then requires you to remap EVERYTHING. Kept my mouth shut because i sincerely thought that with all the positive noise going on while the tech alpha was open my issues with the sim was the exception to what everyone else was seeing. Also .. the constant reminder (THIS IS A TECH ALPHA not even close to the final build .. yada yada from various factions...

Absolutely no one responded to my concerns. I saw RobC's posts at the time and he was pretty much tarred and feathered. One can argue that maybe he was being overly negative.. but was he being unreasonably cautious about singing praises about an unreleased product..? probably not.

MS must have put on a helluva press event that pulled the wool over many of the "journalists/influencers" in attendance or they saw and knew what was going on, ignored it and edited out the flaws. One thing is certain Marketing and Press relations did their job.. thumbs up to them.

This release has me rethinking the trust and value of opinion that i place in a lot of people in various parts of the simming world...

I have known you for some time on here. Always one of the sensible ones, and your intelligence and balanced point of view always shines through in your posts.

Reading this post I can actually feel the sincerity, emotion, and crushing sense of disappointment.

I cannot disagree with any part of your post, and it is identical to how I feel, but I neither had the patience or capability to express myself in this way.

Thanks for doing it for me - you hit the target, and talk for quite a lot of us I think.  Thanks!

Hi,

You can also add the Experimental Menu into the list of issues. One cannot align the outer displays with the background if the menu is blocking the view, then also need to STOP the motion, makes it difficult to align the screens.

I can't load into a flight, tried multiple times, takes 10+ minutes like it's stuck, dev mode says bandwidth is 0.00mbps. I assume this is down to server issues...

Some observations:

ESC does not work in some cases to get to the main settings menu.

Streaming aircraft will NOT work in most cases.  Textures fail to load.

World map slow to stream in.

Frame gen does not work (no option for 30 series cards).  Maybe by design.

Walk around by default needs to either be an option or removed all together as it doesn't allow aircraft to function in certain cases.  Also, it's a very bad look aesthetically for a starting point in the sim.  It's also extremely clunky to use.

Avatars need to be removed or optioned.  Do not want to see pilots in the aircraft.

How long did you wait?  It is loading on that screen.  Not very intuitive but it isn’t locked up.

How long did I wait? The first time twenty minutes.

The second time ten minutes.

The third time I reduced all graphics settings to minimal ‘cause “just in case” and gave it another ten minutes.

Fourth attempt I left it for an hour and a half as I fell asleep on the sofa - it’s been a long day and I was up late last queuing….

So far nothing, nada. I’m a patient guy but as launches go, so far this has been one massive turkey.

Reading here and the official forums, I’m coming round to the view that there isn’t going to be any quick fixes for this.

I think there’s going to have to be some radical, fundamental re-engineering of this thing to get it working for a mass market….

I found a solution that works for me so far, and that's to use a VPN. I decided to re-install it again as the aircraft were not displaying correctly in the menu and i had large place holders empty. Long and short of it is the old 97% bug hit again on trying to install

. I have noticed before even with 2020, when downloading stuff for the sim it was pretty slow, despite having 1gb FTTP. and i would switch to the vpn and it downloaded far quicker, well i tried it tonight using anywhere apart from the UK and Boom, straight in and flying. So certainly for the UK and probably some EU Countries there's something going on to slow our connections.
