Problem list with FS2024 so far

Featured Replies

Finally got installed at 4:00 am this morning after getting all those delay notices last night.

After getting all my controls back right, I made three perfect flights.  Then I wanted to move some stuff from my Community Folder over to 2024.  Using tips from this forum I was able to finally find the folder and change the cfg file to my F:\ drive where I had installed the sim.

Then I rebooted the computer and tried to start 2024 up again and got this message: "Shader Model 6.7 is not supported by this device.  Maximum Shader Model supported is 6.5.

No matter how many times I tried, it kept giving me this message, so I decided to uninstall it, hoping that it would load again as it did the first time.  After waiting for it to finish a message came up saying "Almost done", the it said "Try again".  I clicked several times and it kept answering with this message. So now I can't even load the program.

Total unsatisfactory.

I guess I've just wasted $100 since I can't even load the program.

Back to MSFS 2020.

  • 😄, posting goodbye threads and Youtube videos.  I saw this coming a mile away (a total cloud sim 🤨).  It might be March 2025 before I dive in (maybe next summer).

Problem so far only one........................................................................
The game will not start.
Still hold at 97 procent.
Now it starts and says low bandwidth.....
Nothing loads.....

So 1 problem I can't start the game.

I see people saying we need to be patient, and patience is a virtue.  Well, if wasting my life away waiting for things to be right is a virtue, I would rather not have it.

So anyway, until then, I have a perfectly good flight sim to fall back on, and no time wasted, so no great loss (apart from a bit of money of course ).

I have seen more issues on other peoples videos and pictures as well, but I won't waste any more time logging it here.
I will say though, that some of them are just people not knowing how to do things the new way rather than proper issues.
Eventually, we will have to learn the new ways if we want to use this sim - simple as that.

I mean .. i saw it coming but wanted to believe. I took part in the tech alpha and saw it for myself: Long load times, terrible looking things due to stuff not loading in, Terrible UI, Control profiles for the most popular sim products missing which then requires you to remap EVERYTHING. Kept my mouth shut because i sincerely thought that with all the positive noise going on while the tech alpha was open my issues with the sim was the exception to what everyone else was seeing. Also .. the constant reminder (THIS IS A TECH ALPHA not even close to the final build .. yada yada from various factions.

Absolutely no one responded to my concerns. I saw RobC's posts at the time and he was pretty much tarred and feathered. One can argue that maybe he was being overly negative.. but was he being unreasonably cautious about singing praises about an unreleased product..? probably not.

MS must have put on a helluva press event that pulled the wool over many of the "journalists/influencers" in attendance or they saw and knew what was going on, ignored it and edited out the flaws. One thing is certain Marketing and Press relations did their job.. thumbs up to them.

This release has me rethinking the trust and value of opinion that i place in a lot of people in various parts of the simming world. Mind you they are not the ones responsible for the abysmal program (as it stands)  at all but the groundswell of absolutely positive opinions and videos of how great the sim is and nary a mention of underlying potential issues has me feeling somewhat unprepared for the realities of dealing with what feels like a very rough alpha.

I personally have to take responsibility for buying in to this hype.

As you have correctly stated we have to learn new ways to handle this new sim .. an open mind is required to get everything up and running. I can deal with that. So i will install MSFS2024 in a few days and spend the time to configure it to my liking and wait for the patches to roll in.

In the mean time .. yeah .. hopefully we see the 777F from Mr Randazzo. I need something heavy to fly during this holiday season and i really don't think the new sim is going to be up to speed for me quite yet.

Not to mention someone running around here telling us we were crazy for staying with an inferior sim...  Loving my inferior 2020 at the moment LOL

I do think it will mature relatively quickly once the launch stabilizes but for right now I'm not even bothering with the full install, just the "pre-install" the MS Store did.

Haven't even got that far yet. Brand new NVME for the new sim sitting on my desk. I cant be bothered at the moment. Yesterday was an absolute dumpster fire. Ill install the sim over the weekend and poke around but 2020 will be where its at for the rest of the year for me personally.

My world map is just black, when I want to start a free flight the loading screen is just black and then the sim crashes.

Good to have 2020 still installed!

I choose my local airport,  hit fly, I get a view of it from far, far above with the circle turning in the bottom right of the screen.......and that's it.

It never goes beyond that.....

Very true

MSFS 2024's release is definitely not going well.  I often wonder how all of these problems escape beta testers?  I understand the huge demand on servers not able to be tested but what about other bugs?

But the Tech Alpha was not representative of the final game lol. How many times was that repeated???

I don't know of any beta testers for the sim.  Perhaps with all of the problems any new owners of the sim are now considered beta testers until a fix is released?  I was just giving an example of common issues affecting multiple airports (ie grass on the runways, texture issues etc..).  Surely testers would have seen it and hopefully reported the problems?  Of course, it's a very different matter if Asobo did not acknowledge the issues.

I think the release is going better than expected based on the overall. The OP makes some good points. Its ashame that the following post to this thread are more about nonsense of, still have 2020 etc, and not geared towards the OP.

For the long load times, I've seen nothing but improvements. We all have to watch that trailer so thats a good gauge to see improvements in that area. Where yesterday I had to watch it several times before being able to get into the flight, I just did a flight and got it loaded by the time in the trailer that the hot air balloon was taking off. SO it will be interesting to see just how much quicker it will get once all the rush of downloads are over with.

I am curious about this one

  • Unable to turn off/disable ATC?

As I plan on using PilotEdge and SayIntentions once they are compatible so will be interested in how to have that happen.

I should think it's a nightmare for all of them, How the hell they are supposed to try and work with 2024, when customers are seeing so many issues beggers belief.

I think, its not the point how they (MS+ASOBO) make this better.
The really Point is, you hay spend your dollars to them.
All other ist not the number one in that case.
