December 23, 20241 yr The Christmas holidays have arrived, and so far I have completed numerous short flights in MSFS 2020 with zero glitches or problems. Yes, I still see those land bars in specific locations, a few DEM issues with small islands and cliffs, and the atmosphere on the horizon looks way too red at sunrise......but the performance is universally excellent. Now all I need is an AI solution that works for me (and even an accurate static AI option with my massive AIG database would be a good start). December 23, 20241 yr Interestingly the player numbers are still moving back to 2020 with quite a big tendence: Right now 2020 has almost double the amount of players as 2024. I remember it was a pretty even 50/50 split one or two weeks ago. Seems like more and more people just give up. They will surely come back to 2024 in 6 months or so when it's all working much better, but I'd say that's a very unpleasant situation for Asobo/MSFS at the moment. For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

People are looking for someone to jump onboard with them to complain. 2024 is working great for me lying low and slow or heavy iron from airport to airport. Asobo has addressed some major issues and will continue in the future. They even asked folks to uninstall 2024 and reinstall to make sure you get correct files. Sure lets create click bait videos and trash 2024 because something isn't working to your standards. I personally have had no issues with 2024 other than some quiets here and there, but majority of users are enjoying the new sim without all the hate and ranting. Maybe your platform is the problem and not the sim. just because you went out and purchased the most expensive vid card and proc and can't run the sim could just be your problem setting up and tweaking your and platform. So why are people flocking back to the stable and reliable 2020 in huge numbers? You've had a good experience in 2024, great. But so many of us have not. It's been an absolute dumpster fire for myself and many included. I'd be happy if I never ever went on it again. If it was great, there wouldn't be so many rage videos. Do Euro Truck Simulator, Rimworld or X-Plane have so many hate filled videos? No, because they are largely solid and do what they say they are going to do. Do Cities Skylines 2 and MSFS 2024 have a lot of hate and rage filled videos? Yes they do, because for many people, they don't. People largely don't hate on stuff that works well for them. Why would they? Edited December 23, 20241 yr by Langeveldt

Even the informal poll here is 2:1 and yet their are users here who still swear "the majority" of people are on a working great 2024 and if we aren't on 2024 then the problem is us... Funny that. I've yet to see ANYTHING indicating 2024 is currently the sim of choice and the numbers seem to indicate the opposite (but it's probably just clickbait) LOL Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
December 23, 20241 yr After reading all the comments, the central lesson is that graphics play a significant role in the impending migration from MSFS 2020 to MSFS 2024. The underlying reality is that 2024 looks a lot better irrespective of all its issues. Should all the bugs be fixed and throughly cleaned, the migration to 2024 will be complete. Beauty, as with anything in life, matters. While the joy of flying a jetliner or a Cessna is absolute, it means nothing if the graphics is marginal. There are places in MSFS where the graphics is depressing, especially at high altitude.
December 23, 20241 yr Didn´t realize how good 2020 is, until tested 2024, and get back to 2020. 2024 is bought and on my library, will wait at least a year to install it again. 7800X3D / 7900XTX / ROG STRIX B650-A / Corsair Vengeance 32GB 6000mhz, etc etc.

Hmm I am running 1440p monitor too Alienware 27 wide and settings on mainly med/high and a few on ultra. The FPS looked good when I was testing. But I had those FPS drops that other were mentioning once you start to taxi or going to RWY. On 12/20/2024 at 7:50 AM, Highmike said: Yeah, I know that feeling. December 23, 20241 yr Uninstalled 2020. Played 2024 a bit, then got fed up and played other games entirely. Every time we get an update I try 2024 again... And then go back to other games.
December 23, 20241 yr I think streaming msfs 2024 was the worst mistake ever. I would have rathered just had a huge update to 2020, and called it a new game. I do like the career mode, but i believe it's gonna be a dlc cash stream for microsoft. Outside of career mode, i fly in 2020 for my payware aircrafts. streaming is coming in the future for windows, and msfs 2024 feels like a test bed for it.
