It's like getting individual health insurance vs. obtaining the same type of insurance through your job. The insurance company may charge you $4,000 a month as an individual, because they don't care whether you accept this price or not, since their cash flows comes out from large employers. Well... You would think AMD, Intel, Nvidia and a host of others would make a card explicitly designed for bitcoin mining by now. It's almost been a decade. December 30, 20241 yr What I'm afraid is that 12GB is not enough in these days for DX12-only environment with add-ones added (MSFS2024). My 4070 works perfectly in DX11 in FS2020. I'm puzzled as well with MSFS2024 fiasco, as I had been planning brand new build for this purpose only. Now I have no idea whether I should postpone my plans OR stick with the original idea and complete new build even with the old card. Hope that 4090 (and perhaps 5090) will utilize the same slot type on a MB. December 30, 20241 yr I’m even finding 16GB VRAM to be insufficient for what I want to do in 4k. Given the predictions that the 5080 will still only have 16GB, and will be priced similar to the current 4090 (and the 5090 being much more expensive), I picked up a 4090 in a pre Christmas sale for the extra VRAM (not to mention performance) with the intent that it will be the card I keep for quite some time. A 4090 is probably not very efficient to what could be achieved. Graphics cards have been totally outgunned in Bitcoin mining for 10 years or so. All you'd be doing is burning electricity for nothing by running one. Plenty of other crud can still be mined with them but the next most mined system has transitioned away from it too in recent years. It's AI that's eating the production now. It'll be interesting to see how much longer the physical graphics cards remains a major thing. More and more people will outsource all of the processing to the cloud and have it streamed to a screen. I still do a 1080ti and seem to chug along just fine. With the 5070 still at 8GB Vram they really need to start throwing lower tiers a bit more meat. Edited December 30, 20241 yr by superspud

Nothing looks nicer under it. You still get ghosting and the guages are not as crisp. Ive updated my DLSS file, adjusted my secondary scaling. Ive tried it on my 4090 and 4070ti and it still looks not as good as TAA. Pete Richards I've owned every version of flight simulator since Flight Simulator 3.0 in 1988. December 30, 20241 yr We flightsimers need lots of VRAM, and as it stands today there is really no Nvidia alternative than 4090 or 5090 if you run in Ultra at 4K, AMD is probably the best option today if you can stand playing without Ray tracing. Blame the consumer, not Nvidia This simply doesn't work if there are only so many options. They only have one competitor and they are way more agressive in their marketing. So that makes many gamers feel like they have no alternative to NVIDIA. I personally was an AMD customer on the GPU side of things for many years, until FSX and the DX10 disaster that was made even worse in the Radeon GPU I had back then. Then I moved over to NVIDIA.

Now I had planned to upgrade in 2025, but if true, I am going to put all those plans on ice and wait, watch and see what happens. I may skip this whole generation. Or will see what the competition brings to the table. Patience will rule. Nvidia will not be taking me for a ride. They will not be getting my money. The buck stops here. I bet you will eventually give in and pay $$$ like the other 99% that say they will not be getting my money and nvidia knows it. Jason Richards
