Placebo is well and truly alive. That flight around NYC looks no different to any similiar flights done in 2020. If someone says "the trees are better" then you'll know this has all been a complete wa

It is sublime for me 🙂 It's subjective, ya know. Plenty of people will hate what they see, I like it. I'm easily impressed I suppose. It's the child in me!

Thanks for the enthusiasm.  I'm 53 years old and remember walking 2 miles home from school each day in 7th grade to play MS Flight Sim on an IBM PC Jr.  What we have now was impossible just 10 short years ago and I'm tickled to have the opportunity to experience flying in a way I could never afford IRL.  DCS, IL-2, MS 2024, X-plane all deliver something amazing.  2024 has some bugs for sure but the basic platform is there - it will just take some time.  The FM and ground handling improvements have already sold me - the graphical improvements are the bonus.

MS2020 was horrible for a long while to.  I believe it will be improved as the AI that's used to generate it gets "trained" just like it did in MS2020.

Bert there's already a huge SU1 beta thread that discusses pretty much all of this.

OK, found it... and installed the beta.  Seems to work just fine.. my RV8 now has a readable GTN, so that is progress!  A lot more trees though.. not sure that is an improvement 🫢

And it was smoother in the sim .. the video has hiccups but the sim was perfect.

Ahem - what's your internet bandwidth, what'd the download rate when flying low over Manhattan, was this your first pass (read: rolling cache still empty?), and how are your settings for live traffic?

1 Gbps symmetric fiber. No idea what the download rate was, didn’t look.

Yes the rolling cache was empty - I haven’t loaded NYC for a long while and this was literally a minute or two after me taking off from KLGA. I didn’t fly around to “preload”

Live traffic not sure in this one - think it was off cause BATC was off, but I usually have that on when I’m doing my actual flying and it doesn’t make much impact in the air. At a busy airport high traffic naturally lowers fps a bit. But nothing crazy for me on my system.

Has any been able LS to work in 2024?

Away from computer at the moment, but I feel like MSFS24 has been quite nice visually from the start.

This is my video from a couple of weeks ago landing into WFSS addon ZSSS Shanghai Hongqiao at night, the night scenery was already really nice I feel, especially with the glow of the city.

I think you are suffering from a placebo effect. It is clear that 2024 was not loading everything it had to load many times, with poor quality textures etc. It is not normal that with my computer there was hardly any difference between ultra and medium quality in FPS on many occasions on other occasions if there was much difference (16gb RAM, 3060ti, i7 11700).

Now with the beta if my computer suffers a lot in ultra, so I understand that it is trying to load everything well.

Co sincerity at graphic level except lighting I do not see big improvements against 2020 once you go up to 3k feet, so the graphical improvement is very limited taking into account that the PG in general is worse than 2020 and that this is a flight simulator.

There are other strengths to justify the change to 2024 once it stops being an Alpha but I honestly think that graphically for most Simers there is not that much improvement, especially if you use third party airports.

Seriously, why when you quote someone it translates their post to a different language? 😂

I'm afraid that would be un-flyable for me. The windows in those tower blocks looked fake and you cant see what's inside! Come on Asobo, shape up!
