2020 Simmers Fight Back

If I were to add one thing - it would be nice if there was just a "I hate 2024" thread that people posted all this stuff in.  People are entitled to their opinion, it just seems excessive that people need to make a slightly different version of the same post nearly every day.

That's only because Avsim at best tolerates it and at worse actually seems to encourage it. It seems to be the officially sanctioned position here unfortunately. A thread praising 2024 is much more likely to be shut down or deleted entirely than one condemning it.

Didn't they just release a city update for both sims? When I look into your post history, I seriously think you need to touch some grass.

  • My opinion of Asobo has done a complete 180 in a very short time. After 2020's rough release I knew better than to preorder 2024, but even I was surprised at how underdeveloped it was at release. Howe

Streaming is not an experiment -- it is here to stay, in flight simming and much else. And it has transformed flight simming for me, taking it to a whole new level.

........and yet Asobo are apparently going to introduce a download option in SU3 for those of us who prefer to see crisp, clear runway textures when we are on final approach

Hey everyone: if these posts from the OP (and many, many others) start to annoy you over the toxicity, constant complaining, negativity etc then use the...

ignore button on them.

You don't see their posts, questions, replies or anything. If enough people do this, the person who is ignored will basically have nobody that will reply to their posts because nobody will care.

Isn't that the same as 'cancelling' someone? I thought we'd just got over that nastiness. 1st amendment and all that.

2024 has new and better features than 2020, you can't back port products easily, they'd have to be separate builds, which would take extra dev time.

Amazingly, plenty of airport developers are doing just that. I wonder how they cope??

And remember that breathing into a paper bag can really help calm all this hyperventilating. 👍

I believe putting the paper bag over your head can have the same effect...

It is getting more clear every day, Msobo are not providing 2020 Sim updates (except for scenery) and they have convinced their Dev partners to do the same.

This includes Inibuilds who have started making sceneries for 2024 only and stopped with 2020 scenery updates 😠

This is despicable, throwing the 2020 simmers under a Bus.  They want to keep charging exorbitant prices for FS2024 and force simmers to buy.  The Steam reviews are as worse as ever.

2020 simmers must fight back, and not buy 2024. These Devs don't have the cards. 2020 simmers do. Without customers they are not sustainable.  And they will Crumble.

2020 simmers could use the sim optimization updates, but with a good system FS2020 is relatively stable. Plus we have all the addons already.

The latest reports of the 2024 Beta is that it's a Streaming mess. Full of Stutters, Freezes, CTD's, and probably BSOD's too!   The streaming experiment has failed. It will always fail.

There is trouble in paradise folks.

You really think the MSFS franchise could remain viable and profitable if MS/Asobo didn't release new versions every 4 or 5 years, and instead concentrated on supporting a single aging product from 2020?  As for your last statement, I just had a fantastic flight in 2024 beta (in VR!) this morning - one of the best flights I have ever had in any version of MSFS.  Weather was rendered incredibly well and I had tons of (FSLTL) traffic around me.  No stutters, freezes, CTDs or BSODS.  So from my standpoint, the "streaming experiment" is not a total failure, though admittedly I mostly use 3rd party aircraft that are locally installed on my PC.

No trouble in paradise here...

I am not sure on that one,  everyone got the Airac update, not everyone is having the issue.  Perhaps the CU update as not everyone has installed that.

I never installed CU and my sim shuts down fine for example but I have the latest Airac update.

I flew 2020 the morning of the update with no shutdown issues. Two hours later I flew again, and the update automatically installed, and the shutdown issue was present when closing that session and every session since. No other updates or changes were installed on my system - just the AIRAC update.

The First amendment protects you from the government. If regular people band together to ignore someone, that has nothing to do with the first amendment.

BTW , what does " They could care less mean" exactly? 😉

Seriously... "They" would mean the developers!

State of MSFS AVSim these days; Greazer starts a flame war, the same old "Champions Of Asobo" take the bait, rinse & repeat the next thread he starts. Bobs post is about the only decent one in the entirety of this thread (read through shear boredom as it was Mid Session Interval in the Snooker!), the days of intellectual conversation over the Pros & Cons of Asobo are very rare round these parts now, thankfully there;'s other places to discuss MSFS like adults.

Ah, so we're stuck with either accepting broken promises and broken products or having the sim we paid for taken away from us via end of support. Let's all be grateful for our gruel.

What has been taken away from you?  MSFS is alive and well and being actively developed.

I think you mean 'champions of flight simulation'.  I don't care who develops it, as I will use whatever sim meets my requirements best.
