That's the million dollar question.

So I've been considering an upgrade to a 5090 from my 4090 since I can get what I paid for my 4090. However, I'm not keen if there's issues with 50-series cards and vram errors. Can you please enlighten me on what you know?

I did some flights tonight in the Caravan and I found the plane much easier to trim... it reminded me of this video that received some skepticism awhile back by Islandsimpilot claiming the "delay" on control inputs had been reduced... https://youtu.be/hcZxhEHnlsk?si=Vu3s-Q74hLcADKgo&utm_source=MTQxZ

I think he was on to something. In SU2, I would struggle to trim the Caravan as I would often overshoot and have to unwind a bit. With SU3, the plane responds to trim inputs much quicker and thus there's less tendency to overshoot. At least that's my perception. It could all be placebo:D

Like I said the 5090 has the vram to spare.  So, while yes, the usage may be high, you should be just fine with the 90, baring you don't crazy on 4K, I guess. Hard to say since I don't own one myself.  There's a lot more to gain in cuda cores and speed with the 5090 also.

Now, does all that justify the price right now, or should one wait for another few months to see what happens?  I would probably keep my 4090 until prices come way way down.

30 locked with frame gen on is still 30FPS, right?  Just making sure.  It is for me.  When you lock the frames, the frames are locked regardless.

Looks like you sorted it now Jeff, but yes, 30 locked with frame gen on top is super smooth for me at 60 FPS.  Best experience I ever had in a sim.
I am back to DLSS Frame Gen now.  FSR3 FG seemed better quality in some ways, but I am getting ghosting around propellers and aircraft shadows - a pity!

As a bonus, as my CPU is only having to calculate for 30 FPS, it is doing it easily.  No high temperatures or roaring fans.  Cool and quiet - very happy with it.

Like I say though, the sim takes a lot longer to load if you leave it set at 30 frames when you shut down.
It's a strange one!  Hopefully Asobo can take a look at it for SU4 beta.

Where to look for version number ?

Once loaded in at full screen, press alt-enter to go to windowed mode and you will see it at the top on the window title bar.
Then alt-enter again to go back to full screen.

The version notes in the sim should show this, but they quite often don't unfortunately.

LOL!  That is horrific!  Looks like what happens when you hit the wormhole too fast in the Expanse sci-fi series.
If you haven't seen it, you might not want to.  A superb series, but can be a bit gory.

You can try an alternative method: unlocked fps in sim and switch to 60 Hz refresh before (or even after) launch.

I am glad to read your positive comments Bobcat, can't wait to test this release! 🙂

Thanks Fuzzy.  It is definitely good progress, and I like a lot of what they have done, but like with any flight sim, there is always so much left to do.
I am hoping they can take another look at VRAM optimisation in SU4 along with some funky lighting issues.  I like the strobe effects now though.

Just had a flight between ESSA-EKCH in the new SU3 and everything worked just fine. Best version by far.

No, No No. AI Traffic is still without landing gears if you are not pretty close. Especially, front gears appear very late. Too bad.

In order to solve your vram issues simply turn your settings down and poof! They’ll disappear.
