You can download planes and other scenery from the Content Manager now. You don't have to stream it anymore. Before SU3, you could only stream planes and scenery in the Content Manager, there was no option to download it. Now you can download it, which brings MSFS 2024 on par with MSFS 2020 for having downloaded content. One key difference is, you can also stream content if you don't want to download it in MSFS 2024, something that you can't do in MSFS 2020 (in MSFS 2020, all the content in Content Manager is downloaded, there is no option to stream it). Thus, you can save a lot of disk space with MSFS 2024, if you choose to stream it. Edited August 20, 2025Aug 20 by abrams_tank i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM
August 20, 2025Aug 20 I feel like there's a ton of stuff in the full release that wasn't in the beta, especially all of these aircraft fixes. Anyone else notices this? 5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. RX 9070XT.

August 20, 2025Aug 20 Ask MS Copilot about any MSFS questions you have and it will give you a good answer for almost everything. What it the full path to MSFS2024 SU3's Content.xml in both Store and Steam versions? The location of the file in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 (SU3) differs depending on whether you're using the Microsoft Store or Steam version. Here's the breakdown: 🛒 Microsoft Store Version The file is typically located at: C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\<YourUsername>\content.xml 🎮 Steam Version For Steam users, the path is usually: C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\content.xml ⚠️ Heads-up • If you don’t see , it might be because SU3 changed how the sim handles plugin loading, and the file is now optional or dynamically generated. • You can try deleting the file (if present) and launching MSFS2024 to see if it regenerates properly.

It seems so - I have the Steam version of both sims, and I don't think I've had anywhere near the amount of glitches that MS Store users have had. I needed the base files on my nvme. I know i still would be streaming content but not ALL the content. Once i got those base files installed locally in the beta all the little "loading niggles" that bothered the daylights out of me stopped and then i could properly focus on optimizing the sim. Make note that downloading the base files is not for everyone though. You IMMEDIATELY lose the quick load times when you start the sim and fully return to MS2020 levels of startup load times. If streaming works for you stick with it. Im just one of those weird but vocal holdouts who reject the "full thin client" experience for this particular application. Maybe the next version of the sim will convince me to go full streaming. In the mean time however i don't mind having my local files and updating them as needed with streaming the rest on top a la msfs2020. August 20, 2025Aug 20 Any tips on what to download with SU3 from beta testers? I'm guessing any aircraft that I use all the time and same with sceneries? Honestly I don't have much problem with streaming, but there's a few things I may as well download that I use all the time. (I'm also stuck waiting for the download to start). I don't want to just go nuts downloading everything. It is actually nice to save some disk space. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
