The "negative nellies" are the ones who want MSFS 2024 to be everything that it should have been when it was released. I have seen more than enough comments suggesting that certain aspects of MSFS 202

I hear the Career mode aspect of the sim is still a mess.

Dunno, not at all interested in career mode personally but over on the official forums it seems obvious that the majority of complaints and the most vociferous ones are about career mode in 2024....

This is the life of commercial software nowadays. Someone defines what is an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) and once software reaches that state, sometimes not even there, it gets released. Then "we'll fix it" as time goes by.

The main problem here is whoever defines "MVP" has usually zero idea how soft dev goes and thus decisions are mostly ridiculous at the eyes of developers. Funny stuff, except for consumers.

Except you are talking about flight simulation and Microsoft's version of the planet.

Still a mess for me with the stutters BUT if they can fix the stutters in SU4 which I think they will, it'll be a better performing sim with max settings compared to 2020. Also visually I'm starting to prefer 2024 over 2020.

The only thing that changes is dimension, it's all the same beyond that.

I agree about "Career Mode" and would like to narrow the sim down to "Free Flight". It would be nice to trim the game.

People will sometimes predict political elections based on anecdotal evidence and what some people they encounter are saying. Others predict the elections using the polls that tabulate thousands of responses.

It is not anecdotal evidence.  Your quote was absurdly misleading.

I was here during the 2020 days (as were you I'm assuming).  Every SU was a nuclear meltdown, at least the first few.  There was no beta testing of updates, many of the early updates were trainwrecks, breaking multiple things for every fix.

My only comment on this topic.  I am 68 years old.  Got my SEL PPL at 20 years young.  Served in the USAF for about 14 years as an Air Traffic Controller, both TOWER and TRACON (RAPCON). Was an Instructor for four of those years where I taught both disciplines and more at Kessler AFB, MS.  Our Training made extensive use of Simulators.  Our TOWER simulation was considered State of the Art for many years and received much positive praise from Aviation Press and Professionals.  I bought my first computer sometime around 1985 and purchased Flight Simulator II shortly thereafter and have had owned EVERY version since, plus many more flight simulators from other developers  (Flight Unlimited II anyone).  To those in this thread who chose to constantly harangue and belittle this software and it’s developers I suggest you need to get out and away from flight simulation for awhile because if you don’t appreciate or recognize what an amazing feat this software represents and the long and arduous journey it  took to get here, then maybe Golf is more up your alley.

Peace and Blue skies to all

After spending 10+ years in the US Marines as a Jet and Helo tech and door gunner, I agree whole heartily that we're in a new era of flight simulation. No matter what Asobo fixes and constantly upgrade negative nellies are here to belittle and degrade developers in this hobby. I'm enjoying 2024 and not having the issues I see others post here. I noticed that people like to pile on any little bug that pops up when something don't suit their needs. I remember what flight simulation was back in the late 80's and 90's and I don't want to go back to those days. I've come to the conclusion that people will complain just for the sake of complaining. 2020 is in the rear-view mirror, where it should be. I'm enjoying the blue skies and scenery 2024 has to offer.

Peace out

The one big stand out for 2024 seems to be the huge range of user experiences that remain....unexplained. I have a fairly medium end system and a below par internet connection.  There seems to be no rhyme or reason why some suffer from stuttering and others have no problems at all....

If they do it right I'll be using it.  That's what I do in free flight.

But meanwhile through all that, the feedback from thousands of msfs users on Steam was very positive for 2020. But a few years later was not so good for 2024.

I have no stutters 90% of the time, it only happens in PG areas but last night even in PG areas my FPS fluids. I suspect it's a server issue for some users.
