SU3 is what MSFS 2024 should have been at release

I shared my experience because it relates to the points being discussed. For me, those same points are what led me to XP12. That doesn’t mean I think MSFS2024 is poor, it’s an excellent sim. Which one feels “better” is subjective, and both have a lot to offer. Let’s keep the focus on the discussion rather than taking digs at each other.

The point is, the difference between graphics in MS2024 and MS2020 is NOT subjective, as multiple posts in this and other threads prove. It is real and demonstrable. And pointing this out is not taking digs at you personally -- it is simply correcting your inaccurate statements, such as that the only difference in ground scenery between the two sims is in handcrafted areas, which is clearly wrong.

There you go, leave it there.  Everyone knows you and IanRS have turned to XP12, it's just that no one cares or needs to hear it because as you so aptly state, it's subjective and both are excellent.  Even after the diatribe I posted to explain why Bobsk8 doesn't care to go deep, you still come back with another nudge.  Don't be another sales rep for XP in MSFS threads no one wants to hear it here, just like no one in the XP forum cares to hear why I am blown away by 2024.

Quite why people get their knickers in a twist whenever XP12 is mentioned is something that I will never understand. We do not need to defend MSFS 2020 (or 2024) here.

It's because there are a group of XP 12 agitators, that come into the MSFS forum, stir things up and antagonize people, and then get the threads locked.  Let me be clear that I don't think MrBitsFlyer is one of them, because based on past posts and history, MrBitsFlyer has been a genuine user of MSFS 2020, and MSFS 2024.  Sadly, any mere mention of XP 12, invites these agitators into the threads here in the MSFS forum, and then things spiral downhill very fast.

Anyways, I hope we can get back on the topic of SU3 and MSFS 2024, before these agitators come into the thread (they have not entered this thread yet).

Eh - I said I understood what you posted.

Totally get that people don’t want threads turning into simulator debates. I only mention XP12 because it doesn’t have the particular issues that made me pause MSFS for a while. MSFS is still amazing, and I love it. I’ve logged over 3,000 hours in MSFS and spent thousands on addons. I’m not trying to push anyone toward XP12 unless they show an interest.

Sometimes my enthusiasm for flight simulation may spill over into the “wrong” forum, but it’s never my intent to trash MSFS. I really enjoy both simulators and just want to share my experiences.

Yes, my apologies. I sometimes get the XP people confused.

Actually I know what he means. With SU3 I get zero stutters with my modest PC. Nor do I know what all the LOD complaints are about? It looks and works like nothing I've ever seen in a sim before. Yet others do get these issues with far better systems than mine. So somethings amiss. But it isn't the sim.

So what kind of flying do you do?

Is it GA into smaller airfields, or airliners into larger airports?

Maybe because some fly in the middle of nowhere without traffic and land at small airports without anything moving (like in the video poosted) and others test the sim at EGLL, EDDF, LFPG, etc.? Try to taxi, takeoff and land at one of those airports with live traffic and static planes.

I love flying GA into small airports in the middle of nowhere without live traffic and static planes. I ain't no airline pilot...but I'm always willing to pick up a bargain in a sale and fly it into grotty old west London with static planes and live traffic...

I've left MSFS2024 running for days at a time.

Sometimes there is no hit to fps, sometimes the hit is 50% and or every thing in between. In these instances I have noticed higher than normal Vram  but always with still plenty of headroom left.

For the who? why? and where? You would have to ask Mr. Owl 😉

And there's the rub. This is exactly what the majority of my flights look like. (actually maybe slightly smoother onto the runway) yet I constantly see people talking about melted buildings, blurry textures, massive stutters, etc. and calling for the developers heads.

Nobody ever seems to consider there might be issues on their end.

Is default EGLL anything to worry a decent PC? My ten year old specification PC can run the IniBuilds version in MSFS 2020 at high detail levels without any serious problems (only static AI planes).

But then you get into the lesser ram requirements if you are running DX11.....

Because the only major differences I see between Inibuilds/Asobo bespoke airports (which are very good for being default) and a third party airport are usually the textures and the resulting ram requirements, and once we realize that (and that DX12 generally uses more ram) then we're right back to talking about Vram and memory spikes.....

By the way, I run at Ultra (2K) except for textures, which are high or medium, because my 4070ti has only 12GB of ram, and that can be a problem at a memory-hog like KJFK.

Terrain LOD 300, Object LOD 100

EDIT: It may help that I have 64GB of DDR5 Ram, and am running the sim from a dedicated and very fast Samsung 4TB NVME

Some stutters and blurred textures on landing but it runs and looks much better than on my PC.

I have no idea why it runs like s... compared to MSFS on the same PC and connection, but many people have the same problems with stuttering and mainthread spikes. Maybe it occurs with some configurations only. Hopefully they will fix it for everybody one day.
