iniBuilds shares A340 deep dive video

Featured Replies

Based on their activity and discord posts, release could be soon.

Video is marked off into various sections: landing gears, exterior walkaround, tire and hatch details, engine details, GSX integration, wear and tear, cabin walkthrough, flight deck & EIS1 screens, flight deck details, taxi and flight model, takeoff & climb performance, EIS1 terrain radar, night lighting and EIS differences, handling characteristics and approach/landing, EIS2 display & features, cargo version walkaround, EFB overview, CPDLC integration, ACARS/CPDLC & ATC, custom slats and flaps code, handling characteristics and landing.

They're using all the MSFS 2024 specific features: new ground handling/physics, new suspension handling, much more detailed aircraft geometry which the CFD airflow calculations happen over, etc.

  • I think people who don't sit in an A340 or A330 flightdeck for a living should stop having an opinion on how an aircraft sounds based on videos.

I just wonder about three things: how performance-heavy will it be on the system? How often will it WASM-crash? How much simrate accelleration does it support? I'd love to fly ini's airbuses but these three things hold me off...

The 3rd MCDU doesn't work, similar to the default a330. It feels like they reused a lot of the code and it's more of a skin of that bird.

It is also MP exclusive for the first few months. My bet is because they are using a lot of the default bird code, MS wants a cut.

Would be wise to wait, hear from early adopters, and then buy or wait till some patches come through 🙂 Let's see if they've strived to improve on release quality compared to their A350 roll-out.

And also waiting to hear about systems depth as that's always been an area they could do better on.. but as with most of their other aircraft I'm confident the flight and ground handling/dynamics will be good, especially since they always make use of the latest tech in the sim.

I will never ever buy a plane from the marketplace. The updates take months, which means you might have a literally broken airplane for months every now and then. Just look at the number of updates which broke the A350 and were fixed with a hotfix.

And by the way, releasing another aircraft only 6 months after their A350 throws some red flags in regards to the quality and depth.

Anyway after what happened with the A350 release, I personally said to myself I'll never again buy an iniBuilds aircraft on release, so I might end up skipping this entirely.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Lol marketplace, yeah no thanks.

It actually makes 100% sense on why it’s going to be a marketplace exclusive, and not even available on their own store!

Nope - Not very appealing to me, From my experience with their A350 - I have learned that the deeper inbuilds showcases a product, the buggier it is on release. Also releasing on marketplace only - that's no go, I stopped making any marketplace purchases long time ago. However they did mention "Marketplace only for first few months" - What happens after is a mystery but subsequently I think they will release the aircraft through their online store for those who don't want the marketplace version.

I'll buy this one for sure !

Also, I am all for a marketplace-only model, both here and in Xp12 or any other flight simulation platform...

Only reserve I have is the first video, in the OP, shows some stutters ... The aircraft appears to hammer the system(?)... Let's wait and see...

Hope they don't go overboard with the price, unlike what they did with the A350.

This will get a hard pass from me.  First only under rare exceptions will I buy a plane or anything from the marketplace.  Second I can't complete a flight in the default A330's without a WASM crash happening and this has yet to be fixed.  Plus the A330 is plagued with strange oddities that have yet to be addressed.  I am concerned the A340 would be the same deal!

Also if they expect me to pay  for it they could have done the 200 as well.

eww.  Yeah marketplace is a likely pass for me.

I hope so too Luis, but I confess I enjoy the 350 very much, and we even got the "ULR" upgrade for free..

Would it be PMDG or the like, just imagine how much we would have to spend...

That's a pass for me. Got burned with the A350 plus the A340 doesn't really interest me as it's barely operated anymore.

Umm while not impossible, that's not likely the reason. The SDK is there for people to make stuff and give it away for free or sell it. I think what's actually going on here is MS seizing and opportunity afforded to them by the A340's exclusivity to the 2024 platform. This is about enticing more people to get onboard the 2024 train. The marketplace deal allows them to promote the launch too, (which they've already started doing) and that again brings more attention to the new sim. It's just savvy marketing.
