Say Intentions Fee Increase Evaporates & Reduces Existing

Featured Replies

I have been using SI for a long time.  For me, I love it.  Pricing (compared to others things) is great, features are great and always improving.  Emails seem low to me at least - don't care anyway.   I delete tons of spam emails from all kinds of companies everyday anyway.

Others can have negative opinions and that's ok, but my opinion is very favorable with all aspects of SI.   I've waited decades (yes, decades) for a product like this.

  • Of course this is just conjecture but I have the suspicion that nothing of what Brian says in the announcement is actually true and it is more likely that people jumped ship after the price increase.

  • Good to see they are reversing their course. You guys are probably on the SI Discord? Tell them that they should also stop sending people unwanted emails. I have tried everything to stop getting sever

Oh, I think I just recognized the literary excellence of an immature, eternally stupid AI.

I have both SI and BATC. I have been using SI pretty exclusively for almost a year as it really suits more of what I thought MSFS would have evolved into by now. I get a lot of spam in my email as well but I have to say that really the only emails I get from Brian are about updates.

This entire thing is happening because SI ignores the opt out. That’s what makes them a spammer.

Indeed it would and indeed many companies turn a blind eye to opt out requests.  Pity as for every potential customer they get by spamming strangers many more loyal and paying customers leave for that same reason, spam.

The price reduction is welcomed, great news.  I've supported Brian from day one and love SI.  I don't fly without it.  Really like the new mission portal with the charity donations.

As far as emails, I get a few and just hit the good ole delete button on the ones I'm not interested in.  Like someone said earlier, I'll always read through the SI product update emails and just deleted anything that I don't want to read through.

From a guy who sends himself fake birthday cakes . . .

Tell us about the birthday cake.  I'd love to know what that was.

Forever indebted to the late Michael Greenblatt of FSGS.

SayIntentions received a birthday cake for their 1 year anniversary from BeyondATC.

The problem was, BeyondATC never sent a cake.

That's the whole story.

By law unsolicited email must include an opt out feature.  Have you tried to opt out of SI messaging?

-B

Oh yes. The emails have an unsubscribe link, which leads to some page on their server. I did that 3-4 times. The page looks like a proper opt-out page, it just doesn't do anything. Even deleting my SI account had no effect. And I thought they block emails from deleted accounts forever. Apparently not from their distribution list.

It's more likely they have separate lists - probably a member one and a separate promo one.

Frankly I don't care if they have 1,2,3,4.... 100 different lists, they must get their act together.
Sending unsolicited emails is extremely annoying (and here in Europe: against the law)

I have marked them now as spammers, which (in the end) will have much more impact for them.

I'm an active user and I've never had a single email from SI, which is weird. Like others here, I really enjoy the program and never fly without it. As I've said before, there are gimmicks which aren't necessary IMHO such as tour guides and the comedy voices but the checklist feature is pretty cool and the ability for the FO to actually take care of flows is quite cool, although I've found it quite finicky to setup. I do wish they could source more voices to match regions/airlines though in the way BATC premium voices does, to prevent having an Indian controller in Greece or an Australian in Switzerland. They say this is work in progress.

The stand out element of SI however is the flexibility built into the program, which allows you to ask for specific procedures. I landed at Nice Côte d'Azur last night and was offered an ILS to 04R, which is only used in poor weather, the preference being the RNAV visual over the sea to keep noise away from all the billionaire mansions on the coast. I asked for the RNAV and it gave it to me, with the correct transition and crossing altitudes. Very nicely done.

Same here. Strange that some are getting spammed, others not? SI is ok but I do not like the traffic representation at this time. Unless it is the planned departure or arrival airports, the other airports are ghost towns if you fly near or over them. Maybe it's a setting I have wrong. Anyhow they seem to keep trying to improve it anyway (and not to take away from competitors they are also improving theirs all the time too!)

I think traffic is still very much WIP. I often don’t bother using it but simply load up FSLTL with the IFR traffic turned to 0 which allows the gates to fill up with realistic parked aircraft so I don’t feel alone. I’m happy at this stage to have point to point ATC and not deal with errant AI traffic, which seems to still be very much the case. I also tend to favour small regional airports rather than massive hubs so I’m happy with just a handful of aircraft around me.

No it's not a setting you have wrong.  There are very few settings for the AI traffic injection and it is far from perfect.   I do still always fly with their traffic on though.  It does fill most aprons with lots of great GA traffic from where I am departing from.  The issue is what those aircraft then do - often nothing!  Or a few take off but there is no en-route and very little in the way of landings at the destination airport.    I hope we will see improvements to the traffic soon, and less 'celebrity' comedy voices and gimmicks.

This is my biggest beef with the software. And without proper traffic this becomes no better then other at 1/5 the price.

The possibilities are really high but right now it leaves a lot on the table considering the price they are asking.

Hopefully they keep at it.
