RELEASE NOTES Sim Update 4 Beta - 1.6.30.0

If you are playing on PC, outdated packages in your community folder may have an unexpected impact on the title’s performance and behavior.

If you suffer from stability issues or long loading times, move your community package(s) to another folder before relaunching the title.

Stability & Performance

  • Fixed some UI elements sometimes failing to spawn, resulting in an empty tile for example in World Photographer
  • Partially mitigated stutters caused by low memory

General Bug Fixes

  • Fixed avatar sometimes positioned incorrectly during RTC
  • Fixed wrong display of wind layer from live weather in world map (PS5 only)

Aircraft Gameplay

Preflight

  • Fixed an issue that prevented covers & chocks from being removed outside of preflight mode. There is still a limitation preventing the covers from being added while in flight.

Certifications

Rotorcraft hook

  • Fixed drop zone levitating

World

  • Fixed rendering issue on beacon lights

Virtual Reality

  • Fixed Projection issue affecting foveated region in the sky.

Is this for real? What actions are they planning?

I know.

This is why some people are critical and have a lack of trust.  It sometimes looks like the release notes are written by an intern with no knowledge of aviation or anything else for that matter.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

So they probably used AI to summarize the change list and didn't proofread before release. Meh .. ill let that slide as long as the actual release demonstrates improvement as outlined in the rest of the notes.

Not gonna have heartburn or try to promote dissension over 1 oversight.

This isn't directed at you @bobcat999 because you can usually see both sides of arguments. But certainly some others on here need to lighten up ..... a lot...

I wish you were right. Unfortunately, it's not just "1 oversight"; there are far too many shortcomings, and it shows. What you call "dissension" is actually evidence of a lack of understanding of "aviation" and of who they hired there. People like this don't do any favors or good to the Asobo team. Enjoy Thanksgiving.

What else do yall complain about outside avsim? Sounds like a miserable life.

I doubt you will, being so engrossed on the validity of the people that work at Asobo and how it relates to aviation.

Goodness me, touch grass, yeah it’s not perfect but you really don’t need to get so worked up about it.

Hello @bobcat999,

I didn't write the release notes myself, but I did proofread them prior to posting them on the official forums. What this release note is saying is that there was formerly an issue with certain aircraft prior to 1.6.30.0 that in some circumstances could prevent players from removing the wheel chocks and covers. A result of this bug is that certain aircraft could taxi, takeoff, and fly with chocks and covers still enabled. That bug has now been resolved. There remains a deliberate restriction -- by design -- that prevents you from toggling the covers and chocks on while you're flying.

As for knowledge of aviation, I would definitely never claim to have the expert level knowledge of some of the long-time professional pilots in the flight simming community, but here's a photo of my pilot license (personal information blacked out). I hope this suitably establishes my aviation knowledge credentials with you.

The ability to get out of your seat, walk to the door, open the door mid flight, jump onto the wing and chuck the Pitot Cover on then dart back to your seat before your plane plummets to the ground. Didn't you know this is what every real life pilot does at least once in their life? 🤪

my aviation knowledge credentials

Thanks, SeedyL, for still coming here. Very much appreciated. Sad world where people do less appreciate and are thankful for what they get, being „entitled“ or not. I like what I see and get with FS24 and this is for sure not compromised by the wording in some release notes

i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"

1.6.30.0 runs extremely fluid on my sys so far...and also on modest hardware from 2001 (e.g. 7800x/3060Ti(8GB)/64GB DDR4) with most settings on high AND a 2nd HD monitor for utilities and  charts connected.

ZERO stutters, ZERO panning stutters, ZERO audio problems in my test scenario (PC-24 @KJFK P W2, weather settings: few clouds). This setup runs 51 fps natively  @1440p.
