I am in Toronto and Air Canada has only MAX8 and last month WestJet's MAX8s surpassed their NG series. Southwest now has nearly 300 MAX8 in service and their 800NGs are down to under 200 now. So, it won't be that long. Yea, it seems the strategy for most airlines is MAX for medium hauls and the NGs for shorter hops. I usually do longer flights when I fly airliners so that works out, but I am also ok with the occasional equipment change due to operational reasons. December 3, 2025Dec 3 But, does PMDG offer a smell module? The MAX’s I’ve flown on do smell better than the NGs … will not touch Brawlwest … errr … I mean Southwest. Alaska air, ugh … definitely needs a a real world GSX cabin crew cleaning service … is the most disgusting interior with seats, side arms, trays that are never cleaned (sticky, booger spread, stained and in the so called 1st class cabin) … I would hate to see the inside of Alaska Air cockpit … pilots bring their own hazmat suits. Now BA or Virgin business/first class cabins are 1000% cleaner. Edited December 3, 2025Dec 3 by SayAgain Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. - Carl Sagan
December 3, 2025Dec 3 From what I can see this new update by PMDG is mostly just an interior upgrade to an existing exterior model. Compared to what we had before the interior "BLING" is much better but this makes little difference in the flyability of the aircraft. I would feel better about it this was a free upgrade for those that have purchased the 2020 version at least in the current version shown. I just don't see a lot of value in what is presented only that you will have to pay to play in FS2024. PMDG will likely get my money for the upgrade since I am mostly on FS2024 now and getting the FS2020 version to work in FS2024 is hit and miss at best. I would feel a lot more confident if this was truly going to be a definitive 737NG package. Especially for the price of admission that they charge and recharge for. I think its absolutely pathetic they can't be bothered to make a non winglet version and EFB select able brow windows. I find it hard to believe that nobody on the PMDG team has not raised concern about the lack of these features. Also if it was truly built from the ground up we would likely have these features. Nope I am 99% sure its the same exterior model with a more blingy interior and poorly revised exterior textures. As for upgrade pricing it really should be free in its current form. If they had some extra frame features like non winglet and selectable brow windows plus whatever other exterior differences I would be much more exited about spending $5 to $20 for an upgrade. I think PMDG missed an opportunity here. If it was truly feature complete I would be happy to toss my 2020 versions and pay an upgrade fee for the 2024 versions. In its current form I don't think I can be bothered to pay more than $5 to $10 for an upgrade and that is only if I am in a good mood. We definitely need another 737NG to come into the game. IFly had a really nice 737NG package that was pretty much feature complete back in the day. However they are so busy with the MAX its doubtful we will see one from them anytime soon.

I think when they took on those "Enterprise Projects" they completely lost focus with the community. I am sure it did a lot of good for the bottom line and I guess from a business standpoint that is all that matters. However PMDG needs to decide if they are going to be a commercial company or a Microsoft Flight Simulator developer for the community. I think we completely got burned on the so called PMDG MAX project. It was within week(s) of release and all of a sudden they announce this wonderful so called "Enterprise Project" and we got completely burned. Yeah supposedly still coming probably in 2028 now!
December 3, 2025Dec 3 They lost me when they postponed 2024 compatibility in the most popular PMDG plane ever. IFly 737 MAX 8 is dandy for associated routes and will be improving sometime soon I read unless there is something overwhelmingly compelling I have no plans to buy any PMDG 737. December 3, 2025Dec 3 If it's under $10 I'm happy with that. Over $15, I would raise an eyebrow. I just want native compatibility to 2024 and I'm looking forward to the updated FMC. Ultimately, I don't know their cost of operations (salaries, etc) and income so I'm admittedly out of my depth when it comes to criticizing how much a company charges for the amount of man hours they put into a product (which is apparently "thousands" according to what he said 6 mos ago). Sounds and graphics are not as big of an issue on my end, but at least it's an improvement. I think PMDG got a little too tied up in the eye candy, not that I blame them considering people kept bringing up the benefit of iFly's cabin quality, controlling lighting, opening bins, etc. Love it or hate it, as someone posted in the other 737 thread, Mathijs clearly stated that they don't want to have two separate lines of aircraft so we have to face facts that they had to make compromises to allow their plane to be used on XBOX with decent performance.

They don't care what someone thinks about operating in either environment of commercial or gaming. It's clearly a financial decision for them. They will look to generate revenue wherever they can. It probably benefits the gaming community for them to have multiple revenue streams. I don't see them deciding on what you want them to be!
December 3, 2025Dec 3 Looking forward very much to getting my hands on the -700 in 2024. One of my favourite add ons.
December 3, 2025Dec 3 It would've been great if this update was free, but depending on the price not being outrageous I'm willing to pick it up.. especially for a properly working PMDG 737 in MSFS 2024, and especially for their ground handling and flight dynamics improvements as a consequence of taking advantage of MSFS 2024's new capabilities in these areas. Yes the cosmetics and visuals are not Fenix level, but that's not a breaker for me. flightdeck2sim certainly feels that the aircraft's ground handling is much better in 2024 compared to the handling he didn't like in 2020 (https://youtu.be/BQPBV8IWITA?t=1407) and he also praised the handling in flight doing the various hand-flying exercises done during type rating (https://youtu.be/BQPBV8IWITA?t=1731) So PMDG weren't lying then when they said that ground handling in markedly better in the PMDG 2024 vs 2020 🤷♂️ And despite the usual myths still propagated by some, when aircraft do take advantage of native MSFS 2024 ground handling and flight dynamics features then the results are stellar. The new PMDG 737 is a recent example, but this is already evident in other 2024 native birds from iniBuilds, Blacksquare, etc. Edited December 3, 2025Dec 3 by lwt1971 Len 1980s: Sublogic FS II on C64 ---> 1990s: Flight Unlimited I/II, MSFS 95/98 ---> 2000s/2010s: FS/X, P3D, XP ---> 2020+: MSFS Current system: i9 13900K, RTX 4090, 64GB DDR5 4800 RAM, 4TB NVMe SSD

These YouTube folks are all just know it all's looking for revenue and clicks. I would recommend taking a pass on watching any of the garbage! This is simply one persons opinion. Eventually when the product releases there will be plenty of commentary on here from users to make a decision on the quality and value proposition.
