Chaseplane in MSFS2024

Featured Replies

Nice to have Chaseplane again. I used it for ages in P3D, but skipped 2020. It's working really well in early testing.

ok, thx

I have been given a new build after opening a ticket that seems to have resolved the ctd issue.

In Discord they are stating there is an issue, CP is ignoring auto unbinding option offered when first config, so you'll have to manually do this, which I have no clue how to and would not want to loose my key binds.

That's what I had to do in 2020 build at the time.  You will need to go into your custom camera views and disable them and their button assignments.  As long as you don't use conflicting assignments affecting CONTROLLERS when you set up new views in CP, it shouldn't be an issue as far as losing other binds.  You can no longer use your Ctrl-Alt+# assignments for the 10 custom views in MSFS but you can recreate them in CP.

Probably just as well I haven't messed with my controller bindings following a first time installation of  MSFS2024 -  everything is still bog standard.  After looking at vids on how to create  custom bindings I decided not to do anything until it became clear how CP managed things.

Is there an ETA on the FSRealistic Plus app?

it looks cool and the price seems fair for what seems like a very well made tool (in 'sim-currency', that's only around 1.5 'cup of coffee' i think 😁😁😁) . Probably not really for me because i'm kind of used of the default camera control in msfs and for my 'not so high-end needs' default controls are probably good enough but, still, if something better exists i might be interested to try. The little camera shaking can be cool for example, i had that in p3d using another tool (can't remember the name) and, even if it was subtile, it added a lot to the immersion.

If someone is reading this and has the tool, my question is : looks like it completely disables the default camera system, but what happens if you don't always run CP, do the default camera bindings (key/mouse) still work 100% like before the usage of CP or do you have to redo the camera settings in the msfs control configuration screen because CP removes the default bindings (that screen brings me fear and redoing the default binding would be quite complicated i guess) ?

Thank you 🍺

Once you own Chaseplane, I don't see why you'd ever go back to the default camera?

Anyway, here's what I did with this (I'm in 2024 only).  I did not let it remove all the default mappings. (that seemed a little terrifying)  I just removed the default view buttons I had specifically mapped on controllers.  Then I set those buttons up in Chaseplane.

I'm not really using many keyboard shortcuts for views, the few things I always use are mapped on a controller.  I use the mouse interface to navigate around the cameras (I have their Flow product which makes that easier too).  I don't use any head tracking or VR, so my setup is very simple.

I've only had a short time with it but I like it so far.  Setting up custom cameras in the default system is certainly possible, but good luck remembering what "custom camera 7" actually is.  I like that it has some really good built in views for the aircraft I tried.  There's some neat external views that match where you might put a GoPro camera on a real plane.

Hello Bad_T,

I had the same fear, to be honest, because like you I was used to EZCA (wow, long time ago !) which didn't disable the custom mappings but Chaseplane automatically back up all your keyboard/devices settings so if you uninstall Chaseplane you'll find all your bindings back and won't have to redo all the work again.
And I also did like Craig, I did not let Chaseplane remove all the default mappings. I will probably remove them when I'll be more familiar with Chaseplane which is indeed a very smart and powerful tool.

The EZCA that I had was riddled with malware. lol

I already own it by virtue of owning it for 2020.  For me, it's largely bloatware and that is because I only use 10 views, have no other buttons to dedicate to superfluous views I will likely never use.  The Fly-By view and to a lesser extent camera shake/move would be literally the only reason I would install in 2024 and when I went thru that for setup in 2020 after a week or so rarely even used the FB view.

I'm hoping MS/A adds a simple FB and maybe tower view as it's highly voted on, well over 1000 votes and I'm sure they could do it if they decide to.  Perhaps they're kindly waiting to CP to sell enough copies so as not to sabotage their work.  In the poll I presented here ~3x more responders preferred a simple FB and T view over a full blown new camera system.

If you don’t use CP, you’re missing out on A LOT:

1.  Ability to manage view speed, weight (very important) and wonderful Speed boost that you can assign to button … extremely useful when you want to quick checkout an airport or location.  In cockpit I set to much lower motion speeds so as to make it smooth and more precision.

2. Camera modes and positions super simple to manage.

3. Assignments are much easier to manage than MSFS 2024 controller interface.  Just be aware you’re overriding so make sure to remove all assignments to the controller(s) in the MSFS 2024 UI that you are using with CP.

One thing to note about CP, if you do control assignment more than once it actually creates a new saved setting so you can end up with several saved settings … not sure whey the default to “Add” rather than “Update” but just be sure to remove/delete the additional entries.  Not sure if this is a bug or intentional?

Combine that with //42 Flow Pro and you have everything at your fingertips (literally).

If you’re mostly an internal cockpit only kinda person, then CP may not bring as much value to you.  I personally love to explore the world I paid for so CP is essential.  Even more so if you go outside the normal and use ground vehicles and roam the world on land.

Yes Noel,

25 out of 35 responders - not numbers that would support any sort of business case for //42.

You’re starting to sound like a broken record here.
