  • I'm reading posts from those who are staunch advocates of 2024 and continue to 'big up' the sim, saying what a great experience it is, then I continue to hear about all the issues guys are having whic

After a day of installing all of my addons, and setting up the controls, I selected FREE FLIGHT for the first time this morning (at the hand crafted airport LSZA Lugano). The aircraft loaded normally, and the scenery looked good. I checked out the drone view to make sure that my settings for the drone were working properly (they were), but I noticed that as soon as I looked away from my aircraft and moved a (very) short distance away, the engine sounds vanished completely  Is that normal, or do I need to adjust any settings?

First flight yesterday was Minneapolis to London in the iniBuilds A350. Everything went very well. Very happy with the Sim. My only screw up was leaving the default EGLL to stream in while I had the iniBuilds EGLL active. Was wondering why it was a little bit stuttering on final approach because I had two bloody airports loading. I didn’t know something was up until I saw 2 control towers lol. I’ve since gone in and disabled all those Gays airports that I have third-party scenery for so that doesn’t happen again.

One question that I did have, are people using the NVIDIA control panel frame rate limiter or has everybody kind of switched over to the in-sim frame limiter? I have a 4090 GPU so I run frame gen with TAA. I cap frames at 55 in the NCP so I top out at 110 with frame gen. I run at 120hz 4k so I leave 10fps on the table for head room to smooth things out.

Did you fly in real time or in the accelerated mode? If the latter, then now fast, x4 or x8?

Real time. I don’t think I’ve used anything but real time in the last 20 years or so. I’m odd I suppose.

Lack of proper info about how good Ini A350 handles the accelerated mode precludes me from purchasing it. The same question I have for their A340.

No - you're not! I'm the same, never used time acceleration.

It makes my system works too hard so I just slew to some point before TOD when I'm time limited.

Hi:

I have done multiple ultra-long-haul flights in the iniBuilds A350. No issues.

It configures 4X sim rate directly via its EFB, displayed at the top of the EFB, very nice. No guesswork.

4X is also good for the iniBuilds A340.

Yes, very easy to do time acceleration in the A350. Works great.

The control configuration in 2024 is bad, right? I don't remember having any difficulties when I switched from P3D to 2020.

Yes, control configuration for MSFS2024 is a living hell.

Due to the issue with slow rendering of cockpits and also external scenery, I have moved back to 2020 for a while.  SU4 comes with a few other issues as well.
SU3 was almost perfect for me, and I didn't need the extra performance from SU4, so it is such a pity.  I hope they fix up the sim pretty quickly in the New Year.

As we know, 2020 really isn't that bad, and at least I can use ALL of my aircraft and airports etc. (including all the ones Asobo sold me).
I have come to realise that if 2020 was all we had, it would still be a really good sim.  Maybe a 2020+ was all we really needed, but...  Well we know the rest of the argument.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

I seem to have got my control settings working OK in MSFS 2024, but then I am only using a simple joystick (CH Flightstick Pro), as opposed to some of the complex controllers that you guys need to configure.

I do think this was probably the worse time to move if you hadn't done it yet. I could never go back to 2020 but I also wish I could go back to SU3 and I'm not flying very much at all now as a result of the SU4 downgrade. Luckily it's Christmas so I don't have a great deal of free time anyway but I'm optimistic that it will be resolved in the new year.
