  1. Past hour
  2. Just curious, does it happen all the time, and are you using laptop
  3. It used to be fairly easy to log on to Orbx and post a problem but it seems sort of difficult now, at least for me. Have not been there in years. Maybe someone has had this same issue. FSX - Orbx - OLC USA - Indiana pyramids
  4. I would suggest visiting Microcenter in Charlotte if you don't feel comfortable building a PC yourself. At first, I was intimidated by the idea of assembling a computer. It took me approximately two weeks to find the correct parts and about three days to complete the build. However, by thoroughly researching each component, you can ensure that your build exceeds the quality and attention provided by many vendors. Don't settle for anything less than excellence - take the time to do your homework.
  5. It's been happening on and off for a while, though only at Heathrow and Paris as of the moment as far as I can tell. I'm not sure which settings to lower tbh, when landing and approaching the airport I get a 30 FPS on the approach with relatively few stutters. So if it was a performance issue, wouldn't I see something there? Also yet another crash in Heathrow doing the 6pm back to Toronto. This time however it came with this error log, a G3d.dll crash with a 0005 exception. I also tried content error logging by P3D but it didn't catch anything of note and ended at entry 999. Jon.
  6. Amazing what you can find in MSFS. My bro-in-law and wife are travelling in Europe and were at the dawn ceremony in Villers-Bretaneux yesterday. Freezing, they said. Good effort I'd say.
  7. I went with Jetline Systems back in 2020, mostly because there was a huge shortage (read: scalping) on 3xxx video cards and because I knew I wanted to build a system dedicated only to flightsim and those kind of shops were the only way to get your hands on a video card without paying 3x for it. I have always been super happy with what they shipped me. I will admit, I did have a hiccup with them. I kept getting CTD's and their response was pretty much "its a new platform, we're seeing that all over the place", and of course, they weren't wrong about that. However, after doing a lot of research on my own, I finally discovered it was simply a setting in BIOS. I can't remember exactly what it was, but once I un-ticked a box, I never had a CTD again. I was slightly annoyed that that one simple trick fixed everything and they seemingly didn't know about it. However, my experience was great and they really were great to work with. Long story short, if you're going to go with a pre-built for flightsim, look into companies that do that exclusively and stay away from Alienware. I've read some stories about their overpriced builds.
  8. I've just been asked by a Microsoft Flight Simulator Community Manager to no longer copy and paste the weekly Asobo blog here on AVSIM. He (or others) will hereafter be posting a link to the official Microsoft website when the weekly updates become available over there. I was told that the reason for this change is that a copy-and-paste version of the blog (as I make) is frozen in time and might not reflect later edits that Asobo makes to provide the most up-to-date news.
  9. Most of these are dependent on system config. Give us an idea of your hardware and you'll get some opinions.
  10. That's the other possibility, I guess. Have someone local build it for me.
  11. Yesterday
  12. Got an R15 Aurora with 13900KF and 4090 last year and very happy with it. I have been building my own PCs from scratch for 20 years before that but decided it was time for a change.
  13. This is a follow-up to my previous post on the Isles of Scilly. As I'd mentioned there, I was barely able to take off St Mary's Airport (EHGE)...with a bit of daredevilry that is not well-advised for this Douglas behemoth...🙂...I don't have yet that STOL capable, sturdy, nimble, and reliable BN-2 at my disposal, which is really the aircraft that is suitable for commuting in these miniscule islands (true in RW too, btw). Anyway, having thoroughly toured the 5 main islands and immensely enjoying the beauty of this place, it dawned on me that I better find a place to land next... (having ruled out the NDB approach back to St. Mary's short runway due to pilot's lack of confidence...🙂...). So, here, I've headed out, across the sea, towards the mainland with my mind (initially) set for the Land's End Airport (EGHC). Land's End is only about 30 (flying) miles from St Mary's, and I can surely handle it...I thought.... See my 2nd image below, from the cockpit, where I start out by flying over (and bidding fond farewell to) the fast receding "islets" of Scilly, while pondering at the same time, about this disjointed land that was once all together...in the ancient times...12,000 years ago...🙂...Well...then a change of plan while enroute...!! As the DC-3's (minimal) GPS was (reliably) tracking its route to EGHC, myself imbibing a soothing beverage of my preference...🙂..., I looked up this EGHC airport some more. I knew beforehand that it has ~2,500 ft runways. However, first of all, I couldn't motivate myself today to tackle an RNAV approach with this DC-3 and its most rudimentary (and a bit finicky too, if you ask me) avionics suite (I'm using here the (stock) Asobo version, un-modded). I perused bits more of on-line discussions about this airport in a British Forum, which outlined the "good", "bad", and "ugly" features of the airport (see below) ...hmm...somehow, I'm reminded, here, of Clint Eastwoods's "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly"...🙂...must have watched it at least 3+ times.... Anyway, about EGHC: [The Good] A former VFR-only airport getting IFR procedures is rare and always a good thing. [The Bad] It seems they will charge you (not a concern for me), but the approach will take the aircraft over water and out of glide for quite a bit of time (a valid concern for me). [The Ugly] A truckload of UK-type (can't say the prohibited word here, but it starts with "bull" and has 4 more letters...and spoken like a true British (or even an American), I took this bit seriously here...🙂...) ...essentially it said that the new IFR procedures at EGHC come with many restrictions and dos and don'ts etc. Thus, dissuaded from EGHC, as I (frantically) looked for an alternative airport, preferably with an ILS approach where I can easily guide my DC-3 down with LOC/GS guidance, I found the Cornwall Airport Newquay (EGHQ) just 35 miles further up along the (Cornish) coastline. I then directed my DC-3 towards Newquay's ILS Runway 30 (see my approach and landing images below). In my 4th shot, below, you'll see me making Landfall near Land's End (the words here have a nice rhythm to it...🙂...) ...against the rugged coastlines. Land's End is the most westerly point of mainland England, but not the westernmost point of mainland Great Britain, as this title is narrowly taken by a site in the Scottish Highlands. However, the topography of Land's End region is quite striking indeed, with rocky cliffs, rough seas, and delicate pastures and farmlands...all these elements combining together to give this region remarkable (natural) beauty (see my images, shot #s 5-14, aided by decent MSFS rendition, as I overfly this (mountain-free) region in a relaxed manner soaking in the ambience and beauty of this short passage, on my way to Newquay)... Hope you enjoy this collection of images from my trip...! Thanks for viewing...!
  14. I use the quest 2. However reverted to a 2 d flight for a change and scenery on my 3080rtx on a 1440p monitor looks tremendous. can you get even close to this with a high end headset such as the crystal? Anyone gone from a quest2 to a high end headset ? What do you think ? cheers
  15. @David Mills Thanks for the update, it’s 🌲’d.
  16. I don't know which country you are in and which server you connect to, but I live in a European country but... like this evening, I received this warning and this happens "only" after 5/6 PM LT and on weekends even before and this is happening to me more and more frequently after this time while on weekday mornings, where obviously there are fewer users, I have never received this warning. I'm certainly not the only one with this problem because just go to the Msfs 2020 forum, and you can see how many reports of insufficient bandwidth have been reported.
  17. APRIL 25TH, 2024 – DEVELOPMENT UPDATE Posted by: Microsoft Flight Simulator Team This week’s Screenshot Challenge winner is Forum user Parorng! If you’re interested in participating in our weekly Screenshot Challenges, check out the details in the Community section below! Yesterday, our panel of Jorg, Seb, and Martial plus special guests from Working Title and iniBuilds appeared on our latest Developer Livestream. If you missed catching it live on Twitch, you can watch the replay on YouTube here: In addition to answering dozens of questions from the community, some of the other highlights from the broadcast include: Overview from Working Title on the improvements to the G3X avionics coming in Sim Update 15 (SU_15) Presentation from iniBuilds about the Airbus A320neo V2, a free aircraft for all players on all platforms launching alongside SU_15 Announcement of City Update VII: European Cities II which includes updated scenery for: Barcelona Madrid Monte Carlo Nice Porto Stockholm Announcement of Local Legend 16: Short Sc.7 Skyvan (“The Flying Shoebox”) by developer iniBuilds Both City Update VII and Local Legend 16 are targeted for release on May 28. Also announced during the livestream was an update on the Sim Update 15 release date. While we had previously revealed a tentative launch date of April 30, we now think an additional week of development time is necessary. This will be the last Sim Update for Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) prior to the launch of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 later this year (but not the final Sim Update for MSFS2020 ever — SU_16 is planned for early 2025), so the team really wants to make sure SU_15 in an excellent state before we release it. In Marketplace news, the team feels like they have the backlog under control and can now begin accepting new developers into the Marketplace. We have a very lengthy list of pending applications and can’t approve all of them at once, so in order to help us prioritize the developers most desired by you, the community, we are asking for your feedback. Please see this thread on our forums where you can share your feedback on which developers you would most like to see added to the Marketplace. – MSFS Team FEEDBACK SNAPSHOT Click here for the web-friendly version of the Feedback Snapshot. MARKETPLACE FEATURED RELEASE We are pleased to highlight the PA-38-112 Tomahawk from developer Just Flight, available now for both PC and Xbox! Following on from their popular PA-28R Arrow III, PA-28R Turbo Arrow III/IV and PA-28-161 Warrior II for Microsoft Flight Simulator, Just Flight’s in-house team has developed this highly detailed simulation of the PA-38-112 Tomahawk following comprehensive, hands-on research with a real-life Tomahawk, G-BNKH, based at Goodwood Aerodrome with SportAir. An already popular aircraft with the community, Just Flight is excited to bring you this incredibly detailed rendition of the Tomahawk into Microsoft Flight Simulator, complete with fully accurate systems functionality, high quality modelling and texturing, realistic wear and tear, a plethora of customisation options and an immersive sound set recorded from the real aircraft. Just Flight continues to raise the bar with their General Aviation aircraft fleet, with this release bringing with it full 8K PBR textures for the interior and exterior and brand new features that have never been seen before in a Just Flight product, such as a fully interactive walkaround mode, allowing you to perform a full pre-flight walkaround. This is an important feature, as component wear and tear is also simulated that is both persistent between flights, and is variable depending on how you fly the aircraft. Are you a pilot that greases every one of your landings on smooth tarmac runways? Then you will have less tyre wear than a pilot that flies off gravel strips and likes a more ‘positive’ touchdown. The Piper PA-38 Tomahawk is a two-seater, piston-engine aircraft equipped with a fixed tricycle landing gear, 112hp four-cylinder engine and a fixed pitch propeller – an ideal aircraft for flight training and touring! Almost 2,500 Tomahawk’s were manufactured between 1978 and 1982 with many still in operation around the world. The aircraft is renowned for its unconventional stall and spin characteristics, which unlike similar aircraft, require pilot skill to recover from. These characteristics are simulated and can now be experienced in Microsoft Flight Simulator. It’s time to take the Tomahawk for a spin! 18. You purchase the new one through Orbx Central, it's free but it is processed that way. You then uninstall the old version and install the new one. Lee
  19. They did. Asobo and Working Title improved it.
  20. Bought an Aurora R11 with a 3080 but the small case make it very noisy. It becomes a second PC for MSFS dev and finally, I bought an second pre assembled PC at ly local shop just afterward. So, I wouldn’t recommand as a MSFS user.
  21. If you don't want to build one yourself, there might be a local computer place that will build it for you.
  22. It's most likely the Caravan as the scene is labelled as 'Air Ambulance', and well the Caravan livery is done up as an Air Ambulance. If that A330 is not a flyable model, might be AI. I remember several Dev Q&As ago Jorg said they have a bunch of licenced, AI quality aircraft built but they haven't added them because they want liveries for them, they don't want to just add them with blank liveries. The A320Neos in the scene are the Asobo Neo, you can tell because of the white rectangle where the registry number should be.
  23. None of the update news of 2020 or 2024 means much unless MS servers stay online up there in the clouds spinning straw into graphic gold. Yay! Great news! (MS income is rising against all expectations). https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/markets/ar-AA1nFC9L
  24. Don't bother. They hate the new 787 and 747 for some reason.
