  2. I just booked a flight with United, not online (but via a very nice UA Agent...good to talk to humans rather than computers...once in a while...🙂...), from my hometown Chicago Airport (the one in O'Hare, aka: ORD) to Orlando (MCO), to be flown in about a month's time. This is at the invitation of a local family in Florida. I would be hosted and chauffeured, so, I just need to still get a one (or two) day pass for the Disney World. I have not been there in ages, and wild rides for myself being now things of long past...maybe a leisurely stroll in the Epcot Center is what I'm most looking forward to. I have some fond memories of my decade-and-half ago visit to Epcot, such as sampling food (and brew) at the street-side cafes and kiosks, there, from countries around the world...World Cuisine...🙂...maybe not, but food was certainly better than I'd expected...Oh well...we'll see... When I settled in Chicago 25+ years ago, you might guess that FS2000 was about getting released...🙂... So, I recall routinely setting up virtual flights out of KORD in the mundane (SIM) aircraft of the day and considering myself sufficiently knowledgeable (pilotage included) about aviation. The old adage, "A little learning is a dangerous thing" perfectly applied to me...🙂...but my intentions were honest. The first thing that had struck me about KORD is the Airport ID (ORD), which stands for "Old Orchard". Indeed, O'Hare sits on an old apple orchard, and was called "Orchard Field Airport", been also the site of a former Douglas factory of WW-II military aircraft. In 1949, it took its current (O'Hare) name, by which we all know it now, but the original ID (ORD) was retained. United and O'Hare have been intertwined though history. Currently, United is headquartered in the local Willis Tower in downtown Chicago (formerly called "Sears Tower"; always liked this former name before it got renamed after the London-based insurance broker...🙂...). Today, I was looking in this Forum at vbazillio's post "Milwaukee General...Sandwich", and that's what I recall at O'Hare as a frequent traveler. Chicago is one busy airport for sure (I just read in Wiki, "As of 2023, O'Hare is considered the world's most connected airport."). Having often travelled domestically and internationally from this Hub, I would sometimes strain to look back through my cabin window (best when you're taxiing perpendicular to the runway) to catch sight of the "ducklings following the mamas"...🙂...or vice versa. How about a smaller CRJ "sandwiched" between a 777 and a 350 or even a 380...? Anyway, this post mimics my upcoming (United) flight (ORD-MCO). I see that United would give me a 737 MAX 9 for the departing leg, and believe it or not, a 757-300 for the return leg. I didn't even know United still operates the (old gem) 757s. Their (current) fleet actually shows up with 61 total 757s (40 -200s and 21 -300s). So, more than the 737 MAX, I am looking forward to experiencing the "stretched" pencil-liner (757-300), the "longest single-aisle twinjet ever built". I've flown in Delta's 757s in the past, but never with United. BTW, we really need a 757 in our SIM (instead of umpteen more 737s and 320s... with due respect for these stalwarts...🙂...) ...truly miss the 757s/767s from the past SIMS (CS: Are you listening...?). FlightAware shows the (ORD-MCO) route for yesterday's (completed) flight UAL2042 as follows: (CMSKY CARYN CYBIL PXV HITMN ACORI DEEDA GRNCH5). Now, I neither have a 737 MAX 9 nor a 757-300 in my SIM, so, I've set up a flight with a United A320 instead, (roughly) following the above (RW) route. So, here we go. Please find, below, 2 distinct liveries of United (both interesting and nostalgic): First 4 pictures of the good-looking United "Friend Ship" (note, two words) heritage (1972-1974) livery A320 lifting off from ORD, and then the rest of the pictures of the famous "Battleship Gray" (1993-1998) livery (people said, it had a "dark" and "sinister" look...🙂...but I like this one a lot), also on an A320, touching down into MCO's Runway 17R, in the dusk light... Hope you enjoy...! Thanks for viewing...!
  3. Hi there- Im just asking on how can I edit the AFCAD in FSX? I know how to do it in FS9 but not sure of it in FSX. The traffic tools by Lee Swordy is only for 2004 and not for FSX. So, anybody know what program is used to edit them? Any help would be appreciated. Thank You
  4. Who knows. This is how it looks on my PC: FSLTL aircraft, KJFK, OLOD 200, all Ultra at 4k. FPS hardly over 35 with Frame Generation. IN SU14 everything's fine, FPS over 45. Identical settings.
  5. How do you leave the BETA cycles without having to reinstall everything? Wait for the official SU15 in this case and THEN leave? Thanks.
  6. https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/sim-update-15-delayed/640816
  7. Exactly. They'll show a trailer that appeals to everyone, and then get into the deep technical details at FSExpo. I wouldn't be surprised if they had a demo at FSExpo
  8. Oh my! That would be wonderful, if it's truly fixed. I remain cautiously optimistic What is this mention of a recent livestream about this issue? @outermarker was their a developer livestream that visually showed Asobo this problem at airports? When was this livestream?
  9. the problem was the program doesn't support intersection takeoffs yet. It's expecting you to be at the very end of the runway.
  10. No, they do specifically mention the DX12 tile issues here (fixed at last - hooray! ). They seem to think they have fixed the DX11 tile popping earlier in the beta run - as we suspected it was an issue with two lots of data clashing from the server (paraphrasing their answer there). They seem to think the DX11 one is already fixed anyway, I can't confirm yet as I am testing DX12 now. Of course, they thought they had fixed it once before!
  11. WeLoveVFR, I think its already been reported.
  12. Comments on the official forums are reporting it fixed at airports where they've noticed it before.
  13. STRANGE NEW UPDATE I have isolated the problem - after a fresh install MSFS_AutoFPS works perfectly and shows the appropriate data on the screen. IF MSFS ends normally the MSFS_AutoFPS app (running as a foreground process) also ends normally and will start normally the next time I want to use it. IF the sim ends abnormally for ANY reason (task manager: end task, CTD of any type, SysTray Icon:close window) the MSFS_AutoFPS app (running in the foreground) ends but then instantly restarts or is "moved" to the background by some function in Windows. The same effect occurs if I stop MSFS_AutoFPS in any fashion when it is running as a foreground process. It instantly becomes a background process and the result is as follows. After being moved to the background - MSFS_AutoFPS will never start again as a foreground process. The only way I can find to resolve the problem, after an abnormal sim termination, is to remove and reinstall MSFS_AutoFPS. ???
  14. Here's another flight with BATC. This time in the Longitude from MSP to ORD. The software performed MUCH better this time. I expected this - with a structed set of "rules" (aka stars/sids etc) BATC is probably going to work a lot better vs my random GA IFR flight. I'm guessing my FlightBeam MSP scenery threw off the program though - it issued me taxi instructions that made no sense on my journey to runway 17. Anyway, my routing is KMSP RST1 RST ZZIPR FYTTE7 KORD at FL410. I filed in simbrief for arriving 9C but BATC assigned 9L - which was fine. One thing that I've noticed also - BATC doesn't really understand if you start on a ramp/FBO. It always wants me to call for push and start. In the USA it's very common to go from clearance delivery (having received your IFR clearance) and then immediately go to ground frequency, ready for taxi, while operating from an FBO ramp. Ramps are almost always non movement areas - meaning you can do whatever you want with your aircraft without talking to ATC. When I fly if I'm at a towered airport, I'll start taxiing towards to hold short line (of the taxiway not the runway), and call ground as I approach in hopes I can be issued taxi instructions. BATC requires me to contact ground to push and or start every flight. Annoying but not deal breaking or anything. Once I got to runway 17 at MSP I was pleasantly surprised by the takeoff clearance "N221JS, minneapolis tower, RY17, cleared for takeoff, fly runway heading." And that went fine and then my first pic here is after I've contacted MSP departure, they issue a climb to FL190 (not realistic as MSP departures go to 17k - I'm sure local logic isn't applied yet - hopefully someday!) 2 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Heading SE leaving MSP behind - C700 climbs at around 4000 fpm (just like the turbine duke lol) - and they issue the climb to FL410 (so nice of mpls center to give me a climb all the way to my cruise altitude - perks of working there I suppose) 3 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr So here they tell me to expect the FYTTE7 runway 9L transition. I guess this is needed because I flight planed 9C. 5 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Then I change over to Chicago center and I get the descend via - pretty realistic here actually sounding great! 6 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr It got a little odd here though. I was told to leave the fix SOOLU heading 210, plan for the VISUAL approach 9L, then apch control gave me another turn to 205 hehe... maybe I should have left SOOLU on a 205 chicago lol... 7 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Eventually, the apch controller vectored me in a box pattern (to the south, to the west, then south, then told me to intercept 9L localizer. Also not uncommon during a visual approach at a busy airport. But with the local weather I wonder why BATC didn't just assign me the ILS 09L?? The live weather wasn't great but I was able to essentially "fly the ILS" and comply with the controller's descent instructions to 1,400... until breaking out and calling the field in sight 8 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Who put that there??? 9 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Again, taxi here at ORD was a bit jacked up (haha), probably due to some issue with 3rd party scenery - I'm using FSDT in this case. It told me to exit at the correct place. but then the taxi routing was via M hold short of 04L (fine), and then hold short and to cross the parallels (fine) but then it said taxi to gate via M, G, A. Taxiway G does NOT connect to A. There's a TT, G2 and B. Probably a scenery issue. But again, I hope BATC can handle addon airports - many of the people who might purchase this would probably be flying with payware scenery. Oh one final note about parking at ORD.... BATC did not give me the option of going to the cargo ramp or FBO.... again.... no love for us GA flyers hehe. So quite the stark contrast from my GA local IFR flight to this BORRRRING jet flight haha. ordroute by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr
  15. But they shouldn't....Have two builds... One build for PC and one for Xbox. PCs are getting penalized by Xbox...Of course, easier said than done but I really wish they would try to do this in the future.
  16. People on the official forums are reporting not seeing the tile bug where they've seen it before.
  17. Because more and more sophisticated, high poly aircraft are becoming available on Xbox through the market place. Performance on the Xbox S is becoming more and more marginal. They’re working hard to make the sim work across all its platforms. In a way MSFS 2020 is becoming a victim of it’s own success. Lots of people will tell you the sim doesn’t sell like a triple A game such as GTA and FIFA soccer and that’s true but they’re either one-off transactions or after initial purchase it’s micro transactions. Transactions on the market place are relatively large; $10 to $50 a pop and human nature being what it is, we like our new shiny things. MSFS is a commercial success. The market place keeps giving as far as Microsoft are concerned and those customers in Xbox land are a very important part of the equation. They’ve got to be kept happy along with the rest of us.
  18. @Chuck Dreier, are you really referring to P3D v3? As Bob has said there is no EA in that 32-bit sim.
  19. It was .16 and .17 only with FSLTL (the only ai traffic I use), I edited my post, it happens to regain loss of performance after a while, strange. Other than, I'm very happy with dx12 texture issue fixed.
  20. Excellent. Yes, that's what I had in mind in a couple of options mentioned.
  21. Leaker claims Nvidia plans to launch RTX 5080 before RTX 5090 — which would make perfect sense for a dual-die monster GPU | Tom's Hardware (tomshardware.com) Expect to find out more next month at Computex 2024.
  22. Is your issue .17 or FSLTL? I ask because I currently have as good as I’ve seen in SU15, perhaps the best in .17. -B
  23. Oh my word, they actually fixing the DX12 terrain bug? That's amazing. Shame the DX12 bloom flash bug is still present.
  24. Once FSLTL is loaded performance drops immensely with .16 and with .17., then after a minute or so lost fps comes back again, this is a new one for me.
